Simple Delivery

I don't sell a lot, just a few things that I don't want if I buy a set of things from QVC.  What is bothering me is this simple delivery.  I have always just taken my parcels downtown to the Post Office, which is a 10 minute walk away.

We have no Evri or Yodel or any carrier drop off points in our town or anywhere near, nearest thing would be the Leeds Depot (don't know if you can drop things off there, mute point anyway as I don't drive) which is 9 miles away.  What would happen when it becomes compulsory to use simple delivery, if ebay decides I should sent something by Evri?  Thanks for anyone's help.

looking at all the posts . 75% of people have not bothered to comprehend the changes. Apart from some "technicalities"  it's clear what they are doing.

Re: Simple Delivery

At the moment you dont get the full choices for parcelforce 48hr delivery  , doesnt provide all the size and weight options or collection or extra cover so  I  have to order direct from the parcelforce  site , so useless  to me and probably going to make things even more frustrating once they force you to order  delivery via this new system,

Re: Simple Delivery

This is bad news for me as I always use parcelforce 48hr collect and full value insurance , those options arn't available on  ebay unless they intend to add them   when they fully implement the changes .

Re: Simple Delivery

You will get Royal Mail Tracked 48 if the buyer selects express. The fulll value will be covered by the new Buyer Protection Fee.

What you wont have as far as everyone can make out is collection.

Re: Simple Delivery

Unless I'm mis reading it,  or probably missed some update,  it's clothing categories which have a long list of excluded zones,  all other categories are ' eligible'

What UK postcodes are excluded for Simple Delivery?

For clothing categories

No express delivery option will be available to your buyers, where your item is based in certain parts of any of the following postcodes: AB, BN, BT, CA, DD, DG, E1, EC, EH, FK, G8, GY, HS, IM, IP, IV, JE, KA, KW, LL, ML, NE, NG, PA, PH, PL, RH, SA, SY, TD, TQ, TR, YO, ZE.

Delivery from the following out-of-areas postcodes will be between 5-7 business days following dispatch: AB35-AB38, AB53-AB56, FK17-FK22, IM1-IM9, IV10-IV19, IV2, IV20-IV29, IV3, IV30-IV39, IV4, IV40-IV49, IV5, IV50-IV56, IV6-IV9, KA27, KA28, KW1, KW10-KW17, KW2-KW9, PA17, PA18, PA20-PA38, PA41-PA80, PH10, PH11, PH13-PH49, PH3, PH5, PH50, PH6, PH7, PO30-PO41, TR21-TR25. Simple Delivery for clothing categories isn't available outside the UK and isn't available to PO Box or BFPO addresses.

For all other eligible categories

There are no postcode exclusions for all other eligible categories. Simple Delivery is available to PO Box and BFPO addresses.

If you read the "Simple Delivery" guide. Ebay will offer services they deam to be in reach of the seller, so if you haev no evri dropoff with in a certain un defined distance or no RM in the same undefined distance they will be excluded from the offers to buyers.

Except they're currently not excluding services that aren't available.

At the moment, on the Isle of Wight where there is no Evri collection service, eBay are offering this as an option to buyers.

There's a couple of threads from sellers based on the Isle of Wight who ticked the Simple Delivery box and  have had this happen.

Re: Simple Delivery

We do not have anywhere to print in store that I could get to. I don’t drive and would have great difficulty traveling on public transport carrying parcels. Plus it would take half a day as the buses are only every 90 minutes.
My postie collects and brings the parcels for second class standard.

Re: Simple Delivery

I see this as restricting sellers to use ebay 'approved' delivery services. And considering Evri has one of the worst reputations that isn't great option to choose from.

Sometimes i might want to use Yodel, or Fedex as the local drop of point for both of those is closest to my house and often if you book via Parcel2go Yodel are the cheapest option for <1KG parcel with full tracking compared to all the other couriers.

If you need an example of how terrible Evri can be, last week Evri left a parcel behind by garden wall and didn't even post a card through the letter box to let me know it was there so it was in the rain for hours and water was literally pouring out of it when i picked it up. Thankfully on that occasion is wasn't something that was damaged by the water. But the Evri driver had no idea what was in the box when they just left it there.

Re: Simple Delivery

ebay is behaving like trump

Same here! I enjoy Royal Mail postie collection. No hassle. No petrol wasted. I have no idea how ebay can rip a seller off by charging £6.85 for a packet of 20 seeds. The buyer can buy a plant for that.  Are these ebay team members childless, no need to budget and they seem to be rude as well, calling private sellers side hustlers. Side hustlers or not, how can you justify chargiing £3. 35 for a letter delivery??? Do they know how absurd it looks? I will never use ERVI or EVRI as I was traumatised by my experience with them. ebay gets kick back and force it on us. Thank heavens that we can still choose Royal Mail. We need clarification as from 15 April. Ebay has been reckless with the rules they impose on us and buyers. I was so embarrassed to see what they charge for a letter delivery.  They should come here to communicate with us. They are behaving like trump.

Re: Simple Delivery

Trump is one way to put it. There are multiple scenarios where simple delivery simply won't work.

Ebay are doing this pure and simply to put more money into there back pocket without any thought to the thousands of items which will no longer be financially viable to sell on here.

Re: Simple Delivery

Some things to highlight:

Should the buyer request a return, you may be responsible for refunding the buyer any outbound delivery costs for the label provided to you (including for express delivery), in addition to the item cost.

Items are protected against loss or damage from the moment they are scanned into the carrier's delivery .

Also it references being mandatory from the 15th but applying to existing listings from the 7th? Surely if this is the case then it is effectively mandatory from the 7th.

Re: Simple Delivery

You know the pain of having to go through every single one of your listings. No more bulk editing. I have to go the Simple Delivery and click and click for every single listing. Why is wrong with the ebay employees who call their users side hustlers?

If you were properly registered on a business account then you would not have to deal with any of these new changes you are complaining about.

jophoenix63_0-1743580763203.pngPerhaps they are monitoring our responses, says she optimistically. I can walk to delivery office and Yodael but have to drive for Evri, and had poor experiences with Evri delivery, items lost. There is no current means of selecting large letter or letter for small items that I can find. When selling yesterday I got QR code for Evri, which has no print facility for labels currently. So much for starting on 15th April!
