NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I do not think the labelling helps. The labels that are generated indicate that the item is an eBay purchase and the label generated via SD. Any unscrupulous postie may interpret this as a flag that should the item go ‘missing’, both parties involved in the transaction will be reimbursed so no harm done. I would have included a photo, but it’s needs to be a jpg format and not a jpeg format that my photo is saved as, ( I am well aware that it is the same….. but different!!!)

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm glad you posted that.

It really does make me wonder if SD labels on things means they are not treated the same as items with proper RM labels.

I agree that maybe the service when delivering things with RM labels on is better because they'll know that those items are from people using RM direct.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You have raised some interesting points As it appears that eBay is not concerned  or listening about the over 8200 complaints about simple delivery on this thread   That brings to mind that everyone should now also direct their frustrations to Royal Mail  and  In example eBay changed all of my ads to simple delivery and with that they changed the postage costs  these costs varied from anywhere from £2.81 to £6.51 and fluctuated for the SAME size box and weight in all of my ads With that in mind off of my Direct Royal Mail account a 5kg parcel 48 hr tracked delivery cost me £6.80 plus .30 pence  total being £7.10  which included collection from my door  I wonder what Royal mail would have to say about that ? I am sure Royal mail checks the weight of parcels and what is going to happen to a parcel that has been shipped with the wrong   Simple delivery cost I would probably estimate That Royal Mail would not be impressed with a simple delivery  label of £2.81 for a 5 kg parcel  on it   In fact I do not think Royal Mail will be happy about the fact that their employees will be delivering underpaid parcels That's something to Think about !

In the meantime I have changed all of my Ads to Collection in person only that got rid of simple delivery and also the wrong postage costs and it even eliminated my dispatch times which eBay changed  without informing me. I will not go back to delivery's until Simple delivery is removed from this selling platform and also will not buy anything on eBay until this simple delivery is removed I will just buy elsewhere

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Just thought I'd pop In and see what's happening and being said, and it's nice to see everyone is still enjoying Simple Delivery....

I'm guessing eBay are now feeling the effects of Buyer Protection Fee's, and done the reduction ect, I get the feeling they are being hit hard by people not Buying or Selling anymore, so maybe they will rethink about Simple Delivery

The other thing I have noticed/seen on YouTube is people talking about the eBay AI, and how it's flagging accounts of people that haven't done anything wrong, and Suspending the Accounts, there is a code people keep referencing, and it seems to be a problem to get your account out of the Suspension

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Change all your listings to collection only. Then add a note to the listing
to say if collection is not possible to contact you to arrange an
alternative, if you get my drift!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

That's exactly what I said two months ago Put this in the item description.
COLLECTION ONLY Your item will be collected on your behalf and forwarded
on to you.
Just add the postage cost to the item.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hi all, I am aware of the SD issues and think that it is totally wrong. What I seem to have missed in these messages is what happens when you try to list an item with Free Postage. I tried just now but when I read my add eBay was showing postage of over £5. Why can I not list it as Free Postage?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It's probably because you have to click either 'Buyer pays' or 'Seller pays'.  'Seller pays' means Free Postage, so the £5, or whatever, will be the price you will be charged for the Simple Delivery label, depending on the service/whether it is RM or Evri.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've stopped selling, too. Ebay are greedy and have made selling low-value items too expensive. I now use Facebook Marketplace when possible and am hoping somebody sees a space in the market for what Ebay started off as - a place to sell mainly secondhand goods at low prices.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I love the idea of something so simple being the most ridicules thing eBay have ever done and only a very senior director would come up with this idea that is so so so far out of touch of what a seller and a buyer  wants and well done eBay as we are leaving by the 1000s but they wont care

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've just recently received a negative feedback due to this absurd condition, and still find it at a loss how SD can charge 2.72 for an item that I can post, including 20p for a card backed envelope, for 2.30 at my local Post Office. Are eBay looking at these messages and taking everything into consideration, as it is the sellers that have made there platform, and they have consistently put buyers first.

I hate Special Delivery. I need more control over the way I send things.

One thing that annoys me is that the seller's address now appears automatically on the printed label for Royal Mail. It's not essential to give a return address when posting things in the normal way and I have never done it in all my years of selling. In fact I wonder if ebay are breaking some kind of law by giving our private addresses to buyers without our permission and against our wishes. That's not the only thing I hate about SD but it was the last straw.

I'm going to end all my listings for now. I'll come back in a couple of months to see if ebay has changed its policy and if not, I'll find another place to sell.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Buyers are actually also losing out due to the fact that often postage
charges applied by EBAY can be higher than sellers offer. It is another
revenue stream for EBay.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Exactly !  I've stopped selling on Ebay too for the same reasons. Ebay's greed is off the scale, and the selling process has become a ridiculously complicated chore , especially the ludicrous/overpriced and completely incorrectly named Simple Delivery ripoff/farce.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I  am afraid from my experience AI at ebay are monitoring messages. I sent one apologising to the customer because I'd offered RM Special Delivery not realising I HAD to use SD. Next thing I got the 'the buyer has reached out...' message. I have received nothing from the buyer in spite of imploring him to contact me. I expect all my messages have been blocked. One aspect of this that does not cited o much is that eBay must be lying about the buyer contacting them. Also the evidence is strong regarding message blocking - but they don't even tell you they are doing it.

My particular *bleep* ache is because of the parcel size I chose (not thinking I would actually be using SD) although the camera will just fit the case won't with it.  I've decide to send that separately with a note included in camera and case shipment explaining what's gone on. In summary I am having to smuggle a message to MY customer to explain what I am doing so that I can honour my offer.

I wonder what eBay have changed in their terms and conditions to permit them to get between buyer and seller. There is a lot of law regarding that relationship and a company can't legally get in the middle. i'll try and find out.

Trade Descriptions Act? Restrictive Trade Practices Act, must be some human
rights violations as well. Perhaps a letter to Keir Starmer. Human Rights
was how he got his knighthood.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It was easy to find this as it is section 2 of their own User Agreement -

About eBay

eBay is a marketplace that allows users to offer, sell and buy just about anything in a variety of pricing formats and locations.

eBay is not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers. The contract for the sale is directly between buyer and seller. eBay is not a party to the transaction and is not a traditional auctioneer. Unless through limited programmes such as eBay Authenticity Guarantee, eBay does not have possession of anything listed or sold through eBay.

While we may provide pricing, postage, listing and other guidance in our Services, such guidance is solely informational and you may decide to follow it or not. Except for certain checks, including those designed to verify that listings do not include illegal content (as described in the Illegal and Harmful Content section), eBay does not review users' listings or content. While we may help facilitate the resolution of disputes through various programmes, eBay has no control over, and, unless expressly provided, does not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of, items advertised; the truth or accuracy of users' content, listings or Feedback; the ability of sellers to sell items; the ability of buyers to pay for items; or that a buyer or seller will actually complete a transaction or return an item.

If I had the time and the energy (wasted enough already of both regarding a simple sale) i'd go through all the different ways SD breaches eBay's own User Agreement

Not that I'm a lawyer but Restrictive Practice is certainly what SD is at least in layman terms
