AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have been able to get the buyer's address by going to view order drop down menu "print invoices/packing note" the full address is there.

It will be fine. I’ve sold 28 things since all this started many posted by SD and many originally listed then sold under custom, when it ended to chose to use SD.
when it ends and sold you WILL GET THE OPTION to use SD. YOUR CHOICE.

By the way with SD you DO NOT
1) need a printer. It’s printed in store/print shop
2) need a smart phone. Sure you get a QR code BUT you also get a 6-digit bypass code emailed.
So yes you need some technology but not much.

you should not have to though!

Yes. You can chose to buy SD postage if you wish (with one push of button) but it comes out of your cleared balance. You get item money plus postage once delivered. [Only if launched as custom or without SD originally.]
if launched with SD you never see postage money of course.

And you could stand on your head and drink a glass of water. Just because something is possible doesn't make it right. If the old way worked well for the user, why force them to change to an awkward method? Why not offer optional SD for a long period, those who like it can benefit, those for whom it doesn't work can use the tried and tested way.

My nearest library is in the town center, my nearest post office is round the corner.
AND PERSONALLY I'D rather help keep the post office open as an asset to the local community rather than sit back and help ebay close it down for the benefit of its shareholders.
Or watch my buyers being over-charged for using RM because I'm not stupid enough to send glass using evri.
There are definitely more important things in life than ebay.

I was just offering an option to the poster who sounded worried
But anyway simple delivery isn’t overcharging for using RM it’s 3.38 for small parcel which is cheaper than royal mails 3.45
But yes in general SD and it’s execution has proven to be utter pants in too many areas for people to appreciate the ok ones

Not for the first time in the last few days, I wish there was the facility to give more than one uptick. It seems so inadequate when you strongly agree with a post. Like you, I'm struggling to understand how on earth anybody would think it's acceptable to have make a special journey to a library to log in to print a *bleep* address label when it could previously be handwritten on the envelope.

You can still use a hand written address but will have to wait 14 days for payment as its not tracked unless the value is under £10 in which case the payment could be made after feedback is left.
According to the ebay payment help page

Forgot to mention you have to offer free post on your listing to get the postage cost back

Sorry if my reply came across as being critical of you. It wasn't meant to be.
But how absurd is it that in order to sell on ebay anyone should have to even think of visiting a library to print a label. Just to help ebay make even more money by making something that was so SIMPLE without their interference and turning it into something so complicated.

“But how absurd is it that in order to sell on ebay anyone should have to even think of visiting a library to print a label. “
you DONT
with SD (and “normal” Evri for that matter and some “normal” RM options) YOU DO NOT NEED A PRINTER
you print in store using either the QR code or if you haven’t got a smart phone, use a 6-digit bypass code which is emailed.
if you are “low tech” just write that down…
no need to go into library.
SD isn’t perfect (large letter options and over 2kg options are poor for example) but it’s better than people are making out for “small parcel” items.

There maybe a 6 digit code when using Evri but there is no 6 digit code in the email when using Royal Mail.

Yup that won't work if you are not near an Evri dropoff or don't want to inflict Evri delivery on your buyers.
"If you don't have a smartphone, you'll also receive a 6 digit PIN code with EVRi labels. The option to use a PIN code is only available with EVRi labels so make sure to update your carrier preferences to select EVRi as your preferred carrier."

Evri just delivered something to my house and I can see from the photo that they, as always, made no attempt to find a safe place (would have taken them maybe 10 seconds, 5 seconds if they have done it before) they just dumped on the doorstep in full sight again sigh. It's low value so I can't be bothered to make a special round trip home hopefully it won't get nicked this afternoon.

most certainly agree with you taking percentage of postage costs is taking the biscuit
10-06-2025 12:15 PM
there is also the little detail of most libraries have very restricted opening hours.
10-06-2025 12:17 PM
and it was still a lot simpler doing it all myself!

Has ebay removed BP? Can’t see it on a purchase from the PS.
