AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

If the draconian measures put in place do not allow sellers and buyers to come to a common sense conclusion then that just highlights one of so many issues and problems that enforced SD has caused.

Yet another issue and problem caused by enforcing a system on so many users even though there are so many flaws with it.

Truly gratifying that so many are finding this particular thread so very useful.
Strange those that don’t find it so, are still posting replies.
Long may it reign.

You are right. Ours are standard letter size but because of weight is sent as large letter. That is why we said part of the answer without going into too much detail as we are not sure if they would accept a larger envelope. It was more to make the point that any genuine query would have a response. Our items are sent large letter cost as long as they are no thicker than 25mm and under 100g. Hope that helps.

Very well said and well put.

Hi akemp1.
Yes £2.70 for a large letter weighing 100g is ridiculous and for many not cost effective.
There probably will a concession eventually but no time soon.

So once SD has become mandatory for a user/category large letter is going to cost £2.70 which is a whopping 74% increase on £1.55 which together with the high 75p fixed element within the buyer tax is going to make small light low value items uneconomic to buy/sell here so people will signup and start buying and selling elsewhere (not just on the small items) where they can get better value.
The problem seems to be that ebay don't understand that tracking is unnecessary on RM large letter as if you get an online label then delivery confirmation is usually provided if the postie remembers to scan the item.
Ebay's next concession/fix to introduce SD should be to exclude any letter or large letter under the £20 standard RM compensation from SD, or at least get SD to provide an appropriate large letter label.

Thank you. When that happens we will end our listings. At the moment we are covered up to £20 with proof of posting with Royal mail.

Custom postage is no longer there and it's now not possible to post yourself as eBay does not provide buyer's address until you have purchased their postage!
I have items listed that are letter size, under 100g and under £10, and postage is extra at 87p for which I will obtain a free proof of posting. Custom postage for that seems to work at present, well it did for the 1 item I sold, so I will keep an eye on it.

seller address on labels, i always do add my address as many a parcel never get picked up by the buyer or buyer never home or has moved and are returned using my address ? the postie still uses them ! (no doubt there is a tec answer as why its not needed ) but you need an address to send in the first place.

But with SD then ebay are taking responsibility for delivery (and should be dealing with any queries about if if it goes wrong) so the address should be an ebay/partner facility - the seller should no longer be involved in failed deliveries because they are getting cut out.
Sure ebay might argue that processing failed deliveries costs them money but then it costs the seller money to package the item and ebay are saying to just eat the cost so I don't see why the same shouldn't apply to them.
Maybe ebay could just negotiate with their carriers that they process undelivered items on their behalf but it certainty should not be going back to the seller anymore. Let alone the seller having the liability to pay for a resend.

Another vote for this thread. I pop back a couple of times a week for a catch up read and have probably read most of it. There are other specific SD threads which also have their place too.
My bugbear is that I don't know when my listings will all turn to SD. I have a few listings of each, mainly so I can monitor when I'm "on-boarded". I didn't expect it to take so long.
I can't understand the current timetable because no one who posts on these forums from ebay seems to know. If ebay fielded someone who can answer even a few of the key questions at the Wednesday Community chat, that would be great. That isn't an unreasonable surely?
From an adamant fixed roll-out schedule to these weeks of uncertainty seems unprofessional.
Currently little is selling , but I still have to double-check whether or not a sale is SD or still customised. I'd rather one method and I'd rather go back to few postage and I buy my own Tracked 48 or 24 label. But if I have to have SD what is holding up the water-boarding?
If it's postponed for another few months just tell us. Honesty - it's the best policy.

I've avoided this pointless & annoying & expensive feature so far but it seems it is forcing me to use it for a new listing for £350 headphones. A few years ago eBay delivery was a total scam because everything was ruled out of compensation. Does anyone know how this works now? 1) How do I send it via special delivery and 2) is it still a scam or will it use Royal Mail's compensation?
Also, I've noticed I can't exclude Evri from one listing, it's all or nothing, which is absolutely fantastic thanks eBay that's just what every customer wanted.

[cough, splutter] Judy, it's my own fault. I must remember not to drink my tea while reading the forums.

As a private buyer I had 2 items arrive today - one from ebay and one from the clothing place.
As a private seller I am packing 2 items tonight - one for ebay and one for the clothing place.
A few months after the SD announcement and signing up a the clothing place it's normal for me to be using both platforms now. Why would I ever go back to using just ebay again? Ebay need to fix their proposition fast to stop more people going this way.

@bojangled wrote:@grapecr-30I watch a few YT ebayers , the only business seller I’ve seen that has tackled it was Married2Reselling, I believe a few of their listings got changed to SD.
My regular watch used to be Nic & Andrea Hills, would have loved their opinion on the latest developments on promoted listing changes - but they are taking a well earned break.
ETA and Andrew Buckle who really isn’t happy with SD!
Jo
Thanks for those pointers. I've started having a look on Youtube. As you say, Andrew Buckle isn't happy with SD. And he's started trying out V. A typical example of the issue I mentioned earlier, people are so riled up that they're leaving their comfort zone and trying out pastures new. It's soon going to be the case that ebay will not only have to roll back this monumental bleepshow but do even more to recover sellers. The genie is out of the bottle.
It's somewhat like another in today's news. As in: Oops, so you didn't like us cancelling the winter fuel allowance? OK, we'll kind of roll it back. But not completely, and it's going to cost 1.25 billion to gear up HMRC to handle the "not completely" bit. But hey, we couldn't roll it back completely, because that would mean we'd lose face.

I've got my first bid in nearly a month, looks ok for custom postage still, finishes tomorrow, but I am really nervous eBay are going to change it when it finishes, no printer, no smartphone. I will probably need all your help with what to do!! So this thread really needs to be here tomorrow!!

If you have a library near you you can log into eBay there and print label
