Hi,
I've been using eBay for 24 years now and I have never had a 'Funds pending – awaiting delivery' show on any sale.
For some reason this has shown on three items I have sold over the past couple of days, when everything else I have sold over the past couple of months has been fine and payment has arrived as usual.
These are physical items, not digital, and I've been selling for 24 years, so why all of a sudden is this a thing?
thanks
Sam

I have a payment pending on a sold item that was delivered to my buyer
today. I did not use a tracking service - just got a proof of posting from
Royal Mail. My item showed as delivered today on my sold page and my
payment shows it will be available in 2 days from today on my payments
page. So for me i will not pay the extra payment for a tracked service as
my normal proof of posting is working.
Did you include that code thing that eBay put right in the middle of your buyer's address ?
Apparently that weird code we've been seeing for a while merged into our buyer's addresses is eBay's special tracking code ! - I always used to delete that bit out of the buyer's address from fear that it would confuse the postman and he'll deliver it to the wrong door ! lol

I send all my item 2nd class through post office with bar code receipt but never had a delivered notification even ebay does not advise delivered.
That has always been for my benefit as royal mail to claim if someone say not received.

It's because of greed.
Sending items tracked gives protection but by holding onto every sellers funds for 5 - 14 days means they gain interest.

I use RM 2nd class for all my parcels. I always buy over the counter at a post office and add the 16 digit Reference No. to ebay as a "Tracking No.".
About 8 / 10 get the RM delivery confirmation which then shows on my ebay Selling Page as "Delivered". But sometimes RM Track & Trace will show it as delivered and it takes until the next day before ebay catches up.
The big problem will be that although ebay accepts the RM delivery confirmation, it doesn't include 2nd Class as a Tracked service. We've yet to see if 2nd Class will even be offered to buyers as an option once SD is fully operational. My guess would be as it's not "express / guaranteed 24 or 48 hours delivery" and not fully Tracked, it won't be.
Although the vast majority of my buyers are happy with 2nd Class, as I am with RM for my deliveries don't forget that the CEO sees SD as a revenue stream from which ebay is going to profit. Neither sellers nor buyers come into ebay's equation -- there's more profit for ebay by restricting delivery options to higher priced services rather than any sort of Economy service. No matter what buyers or sellers prefer or how good the service is, it's the cash that will sway ebay.

I agree with you.
If ebay makes SD compulsory then I won't bother selling on ebay anymore.
Royal Mail collection works and is simple.
I book, they collect, and bring the label.
I am not buying a printer just to sell on ebay who are really starting to send out control freak vibes.

As I said in my post when I get a Proof of Posting reciept from the Post
Office on my 2nd class postage I do get a Delivered notification so I will
not be paying extra for a Tracked service
Most of your items are under a £10 in value level, so will be exempt from the necessity to add a tracked service, see eBay's latest announcement here:
We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedback. This will be live by the end of February.
Yep, I know, most buyers do not leave feedback, and I would never usually recommend this, but sending the buyer a polite message, asking if they would kindly leave some feedback, explaining with eBay's new rules, payouts from sales are not released until a buyer leaves feedback.
Think most buyers then would leave some ?

Not sure how correct it is, but I've seen people posting in threads saying that you can only ask for feedback once. Beyond that is classed as harassment.
Never asked anyone for feedback so have never crossed that bridge myself. Just thought it was worth mentioning in case they were right.

One slight problem with that.
Not all buyers leave feedback unless ebay intend to make buyers leaving feedback compulsory.
Even more control freak vibes.

I posted two items today to the Global Shipping Programme centre. Could be interesting as tracking for any items to there rarely shows delivery on the Royal Mail website...

I've sold an item recently and apparently the funds will be released to me on 25th February - presumably because I used 2nd class postage rather than a tracked option. Is this like Vinted where if the buyer signals that they've received the item, the funds get released at that point, rather than having to wait two weeks?
10-02-2025 9:02 PM
two days after the item has been physically delivered.
10-02-2025 9:04 PM
And the item show's as delivered on ebay.
10-02-2025 9:05 PM
I would be fuming.
I use RM tracked and apparently I have to wait until a buyer receives the item and I then have to wait 2 days more to access my funds.
Plus not all buyers leave feedback.

What a joke.
In the meantime your money's tied up in eBay's big FAT bank account earning them interest for 4/5 days before they will graciously let you have it.
This place gets worse by the hour ! 😞

I totally agree.
Genuine private sellers obviously contribute enough for the greed of eBay.

I meant to say don't contribute enough for ebay.
