Hi,
I've been using eBay for 24 years now and I have never had a 'Funds pending – awaiting delivery' show on any sale.
For some reason this has shown on three items I have sold over the past couple of days, when everything else I have sold over the past couple of months has been fine and payment has arrived as usual.
These are physical items, not digital, and I've been selling for 24 years, so why all of a sudden is this a thing?
thanks
Sam

New rules for private sellers.
BPF, delayed payments and the piece de resistance, Simple Delivery.
Plenty of threads about it all here and the official eBay announcements are on their pages.

Major changes from this week.
You will have been sent an email and this will be at the top of your selling page:
As of 4 Feb, funds will typically be available in your eBay balance 2 days after delivery.

Thanks for the reply.
Did this start today then?

It was supposed to start on Feb 4th but things aren't going to plan if there was indeed a plan.
If there wasn't it's going very well.
I like the new offer section most.

OK, many things on eBay have changed.
1: "no fees" on private sales. = great
2: You have to request eBay to send funds as it is no longer automatic. = not a big issue
3: You have to wait for two days after the item is delivered to get the funds. = again no real issue
Result for me:
OK, I have to wait a few days, however no longer having to pay fees is the best result. Yes, eBay is making money (through interest) on those funds, but what could I make on a sale of just £20 in just 4 days,,,, nothing really. Wheras, losing up to 10% on the sale due to fees was a big loss.
The new system is a win for me, if others disagree, I respect that. It is just my humble opinion.

I agree with you and will be interested to see how many of the foot-stomping 'I am leaving Ebay' sellers will actually change their minds and quietly stay. So, first time for me with 'funds on hold' system.
Three sales this weekend and all have paid.
Really clear message in order details: 'Without tracking details, your funds will be available in your eBay balance on 24 Feb.'
In payments, although my Ebay balance is zero, I can see my total funds.
All items being sent today, with tracking as it happens so I am anticipating having my money by the end of the week.
Not an issue. It is a new system. I will have to wait for payment, but that is ok.

I am not over the moon with the change of payment but can live with it. However when Simple Delivery comes in that will be my line in the sand and despite what some people say i will be leaving the site and i am sure quite a lot of others will too!

From what I just read, you can opt out of Simple Delivery.
Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing.

According to the CEO it becomes mandatory *for private sellers* at some point in Q1

'Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing'
For the time being.
But at some point in the not-too-distant future (sometime this spring) it'll be compulsory.
The CEO of ebay has said so and I believe him. (mainly because he'll probably get the elbow if he shows himself to be somebody who can't 'keep his business promises' !)

Well that sucks.

You fail to mention how off-putting a buyer fee is though and how that'll result in less sales for private sellers unless private sellers absorb the fee into thier pricing. It's not "free to sell" if you're actually subsidising part or the full cost of the buyer fee.
The "new" buyer protection is just monetising what was once free, the only difference being 24/7 customer service which could probably be funded from the interest they make on holding funds.
Like you I don't mind the changes in regards to how we get our money but the buyer fee is going to result in more friction with potential buyers, personally I'd rather have a seller fee.

Be aware that the 'free seller fees' for the seller is not really true, I hope people understand that...
Why? Because the buyer will only be interested in the FINAL price they want to pay. So sellers will be adjusting their Item Price downwards to incorporate the added extra Buyer Fee to meet said buyers' final price expectation.
While this will depend on what you're selling, most people are selling regular stuff (not rare items where people pay over the odds anyway) where final price is key to getting a successful sale or not.
But yes, 4%+75p buyer fee is better to have to incorporate into ones pricing, rather than the ~13% seller fee from before (though not as good as zero fees at all we've had over the last 4 months, obviously, lol!).

This is sadly new eBay policies, I have stopped selling and buying as I don’t agree with it. May return in the future if anything changes but not likely

Note the fee error issue outstanding too:

Is just about profit and not the seller anymore.

'The "new" buyer protection is just monetising what was once free, the only difference being 24/7 customer service which could probably be funded from the interest they make on holding funds.'
Hmmm... the new 24/7 customer service has already been admitted to being AI machinery out of 'office hours'.

Has it??
Wow, there's no shame at eBay HQ
