So if I sell a vinyl record to someone for £4 it will cost the buyer £4.85? What is this nonsense? It won't be worth selling small items after Feb 4th. EBay are going to lose 1000s of sellers and buyers.

But a lot of sellers don't, all they can see is they have lost the outbound shipping on a change of mind return and most don't want ever to see those old shoes ever again if the buyer doesn't like them which then pushes a buyer to use a false reason for return when they see no returns are accepted.
In the long run the returns wouldn't be anymore than normal maybe even less if they have a 14 day returns window like yourself, I would imagine your change of mind returns are minimal.
Offering returns will also improve conversions, it gives the buyer a bit of a safety net if they have actually bought something in error as most buyers are pretty genuine and won't wish to lie just to get a free return.
I have noticed more and more buyers are using the correct reason these days and are paying for the return themselves on a change of mind.

Its working folks. The voice of the small person is shouting loud enough. On the very eve of the changes eBay have just announced new Buyer Protection will be "phased in" starting with electronics. Ha! They've cocked up big time with this and they know it. Withdraw temporarily all your items sellers.
e-Bay share price has dropped today by the way.

That's pretty rough on all those sellers who deleted their listings anticipating this though

Not really, many have already stopped buying and removed or reduced their selling activities due to the " held funds" and the Simple Delivery which will be impossible to use for 1000's for many different reasons/ circumstances.
It is not just about the BPF.

I agree. The best piece of advice I got as a new seller was ‘No returns does not mean no refunds’.
I always made it clear in my listings that I accepted returns and found it gave buyers far more confidence in buying and the two returns I’ve ever had were amicable and sent at the buyers expense. What’s not to like compared with false SNADS, deliberately damaged goods, eBay being asked to step in and everyone being unhappy because the ad said ‘no returns’?
03-02-2025 11:45 PM
Nah, I’m done. I’m not interested in hanging on until the last minute.

I will be joining you.

In the meantime not ideal, but I'll be using Discogs.
All the very best of luck mate.
I too now have had to pretend eBay no longer exists and start my sales on another auction site where I'm happy.

No don't delete just finish listing. They will remain in your seller overview box until you decide to relish them.

CON DAY HAS ARRIVED
The fight continues!

No returns doesn't apply to second hand vinyl in my book. I've never done it in 8 years on eBay. A detailed description and photos is what you do, as I'm sure most of you know, and be honest! The few refunds I've done, about 5 or 6 in the whole time I've been selling, have been caused by non delivery of items, mostly Royal Mail 2nd Class. Nothing actually wrong with a return policy apart from it costs you more. Keeping a good and fair reputation to your buyers is far more important, and they come back time and again in my experience. But they won't if my low prices items of £5 (priced to sell) goes up to £6 for them. EBay need to remind themselves were are in a serious financial crisis in this country due to totally incompetent Government, but that's not a debate for here.

"That's pretty rough on all those sellers who deleted their listings anticipating this though"
And on any sellers that kept them up but warned their buyers too. I sold a half dozen items over the weekend, having amended listings ahead of the imminent Buyer Fees.
I've now removed the warnings but another item sold overnight on an offer. Because it was being offered I was unable to update the description and remove the warning. I have to ask the buyer whether they still want to go ahead.
How many 'mis-selling' cases am I liable to get lumbered with? Just because Ebay doesn't know what it's doing from one stupid minute to the next.
Or, even if they do, they certainly don't bother telling anyone.

You still have the warning on live listings.
04-02-2025 7:11 AM
Ok, thanks. I thought I'd caught them all. Probably another item still on offer?
04-02-2025 7:14 AM
Well If you haven't read it eBay are now going to "phase this in" starting with electronics. So I wouldn't worry about your remaining items yet. Basically they are in the proverbial and are floundering like fish out of water. Expect more "changes" soon.
04-02-2025 7:16 AM
Where exactly? I have not got any warnings on two remaining auction items finishing today. All of my buy it now have been removed until, well let's see where the floundering fish goes next with this nonsense.

Two items sold on new site early this morning and £167.59 is now in my PayPal account balance ! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you eBay for driving me away with your new silly delivery and payment delay changes... if I had stayed on eBay my stuff would still be rotting away on eBay with next to no views and bots just watching it and doing NOW'T !
Now I have a real chance of making some quick money once again... so thanks again eBay for doing me a favour and getting out of this 1 sale in a blue moon limbo !.... now where's my bubble wrap and scissors ?... so I can get packing and posting this morning 🙂

Great stuff, rightmove. Stick it up eBay!
