Hi, I've recently returned to eBay after a break. I have listed quite a number of items and have found that ebay has increased the selling prices I placed on the items. I have never come across this before and am just about to remove all my items; but, thought I'd check it isn't an error on my part. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thank You

It's ebay's new buyer protection fee added onto item price:

Hi, Thank you for advice, can I take it - it applies to all private sellers?

Yes, private sellers but it's being rolled out gradually, starting with Electronics.

Not so gradually, every one of my varied items from books to a dress have been increased!
Thanks again for your help.

That's interesting. So they've started extending it already!

I suspect many more sellers won't be aware of this change, and will also be caught unawares of this new buyers fees.
I wonder if they'll be so forceful with radio and tv ads for the new buyers fees as they were with "its now free to sell on ebay!!" ads.
I think not.

eBay aren't telling porkies. It is free to sell on eBay for private buyers. No listing, transaction and reg op fees, so the seller receives the price on the listing. Ask for ten quid, you get ten quid.
The ads should say 'It's now more costly to buy from private sellers on eBay'.

I have it on books and TV memorabilia but not on clothes or ornaments yet.
I do not think it is on your dress or ornaments. They are still priced at nice round numbers.

Everything I sell has increased, china clothing jewellery etc think it's disgusting to do this so quietly

Same here, but we've got an answer below. It's eBay's protection fee. Makes for messy pricing though. My £29 is now £30 and a few pence.

Buyer protection fee is a rip off. So up yours for eBay a platform full of fakes and expensive sellers. Loads of far better platforms abatable that do not completely rip off the seller of purchaser. Spent thousands a year and now down to a couple of hundred and thinking putting spending to zero on this platform. Seems all good sellers have gone, but I know where many have now gone to.

yes its e bays latest rip off
the site is absolutely dead there,s very few buyers about as most jumped ship when BPF started
i think their plan is to have just business sellers and rid themselves of private sellers.
if you can find somewhere else to sell like vinted i,d try there
i,ve only come back to get rid of the last of my stuff and once my lots have finished im giving up the ghost like many others

..all so unnecessary and counter-productive. Not happy here either.

..they need the extra income to pay for those incessant and misleading ads..
