Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

If you don't a problem with payment holds, that's your choice.
Why d'you think others should share your view?
13-03-2025 10:47 PM
Oh, really? In my view, circumstances alter cases.
Will you Post here the explanation you might give to any inexperienced newbie, solely from Menu choices on ordinary Pages and without any Links, how even to get into the Contact process?
Their response is often quick but what makes you think 'usually they HAVE helped…' doesn't depend on the particular problem, and then the attitude or experience, imagination, mood or training of the Agents you spoke to?
13-03-2025 10:50 PM
Will you Post some useful details?
For me, 'reference to finding my buyers payment was not available to me…' is as clear as mud.
13-03-2025 10:52 PM
Incredible, Will you say how any of that helps?
13-03-2025 10:55 PM
Yes but when things go wrong, you're entitled to compensation.
Of course that depends on what service level you paid for and of course, it might not be worth your while to take the courier to the Small Claims Court… and it might well be.

Collectible How might international sales make a difference between business and private sellers?
13-03-2025 11:04 PM
I think Jenny is wholly right, and the real problem here is that eBay is so hide bound, no senior people there understand her point…

I happen not to see how that might contradict itself, unless through limited programmes such as eBay Authenticity Guarantee which might be irrelevant. I suggest that clause was not drafted by an experienced lawyer, but what's my suggestion worth?
Part of my reservation is the wording 'the actual transaction…' which in my humble opinion might better have been expressed as 'any transaction…' Who here doubts, many lawyers could drive a coach and horses through the difference between 'the actual…' and 37 other kinds of transaction?
Whether or not eBay is in fact involved in transactions between buyers and sellers, how is it not equally clear that any and all transactions between buyers and sellers are based solely on both those parties agreeing to eBay's terms and conditions? Doesn't that apply to all auctions, including the traditional?
I ask which contract lawyer will not first see the relevant claim here as being that eBay is 'not a traditional auctioneer…' and further, ask what that might mean?
What is a traditional auctioneer?
If not a traditional auctioneer, what does eBay profess to be?
What different assumptions, conditions or outcomes are entailed?

While I don't understand what that has to do with private sellers in particular, it is my recent experience that Royal Mail can cost twice huge more than EVRi… at least sometimes, perhaps twice as much.
Beyond that, what have you been telling people?

Where is it written that Special Delivery starts at about £9?
13-03-2025 11:53 PM
If you got as far as an auto-reply robot, you were on the right track.
Follow exactly the same steps to get back to that robot, then tell it: 'Please get a human agent to call me…'
In the cases, the robot will ask for transaction numbers but surely, you expected a human agent to do the same?
Whether the response you get from a human agent will really be more useful than the robot's is a very different question but you might well get a call back in less than five minutes…

Oh dear....of course 'circumstances alter cases' but how in the world you expect me to speak about any other experience of this, than my own, is quite beyond me.
What makes me think they have usually helped, is because, once again, that is my personal experience and any other is nothing to do with me given I have no knowledge in that regard. I have actually found them to be on the whole, helpful...again, feel free to differ in your opinion about that, but that is mine. !
If I can work out how to contact a human being at ebay I suspect anyone can. I have found that when speaking with a bot, you save time and get where you need to be by immediately cutting across the questions and insisting that 'I need to speak with an agent', multiple times if necessary.
One other quick point...I notice in one of your multitudinous messages from last night here, you mention the difference in price twixt RM and Evri and sound quite miffed about that. My advice, dont be, if you are selling always choose Royal Mail because Evri, while they are cheap as chips, are imho unreliable, lose stuff and are usually late, plus unless they've change their policy lately also charge for collection. I think they are a false economy. I want anything I sell to reach my customer quickly, undamaged and when purchasing, wont buy now from anyone who chooses Evri or Yodel, the latter to my mind being almost worse.
Please note, anything I say here is based upon my own experience and personal opinion and as such should be received in that way.

I don't think others should share my view but I also don't think I have to share the view of the relatively few posters on here who are not happy with payment holds.

i do not recall seeing anywhere in their comments that they thought 'others should share your view'. Like myself we are just giving our side of what has been our experienced but because it does not suit the negative types then apparently our views are not allowed.

If an item has been knocking around the house for donkey's years (100s or 1000s of items in some cases), what is the issue with having to wait a couple of weeks for the money?
It's not like you need the funds to buy replacement stock.

It's your money though, so why should ebay hold on to it, make interest on it until it is deemed time to let you have it....things were just fine before !
