DROP IN SALES SINCE NEW BUYER PROTECTION 4TH FEB 2025

Has anyone else noticed lack of sales since the buyer protection update 4th february 2025. I used to sell quite a lot and virtually sold nothing since 4th Feb. Can anyone else relate to this and what can we do?

I agree. They are very greedy. I sell for charity. A supporter brought 2 items and I was unable to cancel the postage of one. Both could go in the same parcel. I contacted eBay and was told the postage despite the label not opened could not be refunded. That must happen so much, all in their pocket.

You were wrongly informed by Customer Services,  it's not the first time unfortunately,  information given by CS , is incorrect.

If 2 separate items are purchased then placed together and one postage label used,  the unused label will be refunded to the buyer who paid for this postage ( I'm presuming this was a Simple delivery item?) but can take up to,  or over 30 days, but the unused label will be refunded.

I have practically stopped relisting on eBay and buying too. Used to be
great to get rid of stuff but waste of time.

Will they wake up to reality?

Down 50% on same period last year. Still selling but not ideal and surely at this rate eBay has to do something.

Not only that but payouts being held for days is ridiculous and saves no
purpose. Item delivered states payout pending 3 days later still no payout
I'm definitely looking for alternative

I have thought for some time that ebay is killing itself with over-complication. 

They seem to have a ton of people sat in an office, thinking new and wonderful things, but have completely lost sight of convenience for the buyer and the seller.

I say for the seller, because sellers are ebay customers, whether ebay denies it or not!!

ebay is now ridiculously over-complicated. It was far better back in ye-old-times, when things were much simpler.

The "no seller fees" is ridiculous and the way they have changed the website itself is a total joke.  It was far better before.

But common sense was never something that ebay employees possessed in abundance.

I don't sell so I don't buy so no mail and income to anyone who is

Ebay seem willing to let the UK clown show experiment run to it's conclusion with only minor tweaks to slightly limit the damage they are doing to their business and reputation.

Eventually when enough important business metrics go wrong the current management will be paid off and some fresh clowns will be hired with new daft ideas to drive users away.

It's good that ebay fail as it helps other platforms get market share. Ebay need to feel competitive pressure to stop them abusing everyone.

Couldn't agree more !!

It's about time there was some real competition in on-line selling and not just competition amongst sellers scrabbling for crumbs and pennies.

There should be more than a handful of corporate giants controlling the market places and slowly morphing into copies of each other.

We have been banging on to ebay about this since 4th Feb. 

Our sales dropped by 60% overnight since the buyer protection fee was introduced. The only way we are selling anything at all now is by constantly refreshing listings using the 'sell similar' facility.

The UK has been used as a guinea pig for this latest disastrous decision from notoriously greedy ebay and is the nail in the coffin for us. 

After  over 20 years selling on ebay, we are running the shop down now with a view to closing by the end of the year as it is no longer a viable selling platform.

Well well...I come on here yesterday complaining that i've only sold 2 items in 6 weeks...low and behold within 12 hours I get a sale & the give us your National Insurance number message...the A I bots are really earning their keep at the moment.

This place is really beginning to stink.

Since you are not going to provide your NI number perhaps you should remove your listings in case you get more sales but no payouts?

After phasing things down I am only left with 1 Listing which will be
removed shortly, then on my 88th Birthday on the 19th May it will be no
more listings for me. I have had enough after 21 years! Not just with the
business of supplying NI Numbers but the Buyers Protection Fee which
crippled my sales

They really seem to be making a giant effort to alienate all their customers...it'll end very badly for them and their staff.
