A 'Petition'

In one particular thread about 'Simple Delivery' which I've been active in over the past few days, the suggestion has been made that someone - ie., me, an eBay member of 25 years - should start a petition.

With seemingly thousands of posts in numerous threads from members extremely displeased with both SD and the closely-associated BPF - which effectively replaced the 'Sellers Fee' that we all used to pay - perhaps it may be an idea to consolidate the strength of feeling in one place?

So, here it is - the closest we can likely get to an actual petition on this board - and please, keep it simple.

If you object to the mandatory implementation of 'Simple Delivery' and would like it either scrapped altogether, or made optional so those who wish to can use it - please simply post:

Scrap SD

or

Make SD Optional

And as the 'Buyer Protection Fee' is having negative impacts on us as sellers (and buyers, which many of us are too), and would like eBay to revert to the old 'Seller Fees' system (none of us can reasonably expect this platform to be run for free) then please simply post:

BPF - Revert to Seller Fees

Unless you only wish to register an opinion on one or the other, I don't see any reason why both SD and BPF cannot be included in single posts.

Maybe, if enough of us make our voices heard in one place, so the powers-that-be can see clearly, they might - just might - listen. Over to you.

Re: A 'Petition'

got to be made optional for me to start selling again because I'm not using it.

After many years of building a great relationship with my local post office I refuse to turn up with prepaid stuff.

I know what I'm doing leave me alone!!

Re: A 'Petition'

With this new automated feedback system does anyone know if buyers can add feedback in addition to automated feedback being left?  I often get good and valued feedback from buyers and it would be a shame if automated feedback essentially prevents them from leaving more focused feedback.

Re: A 'Petition'

I understand that buyers can overwrite the auto feedback with their own.

Make SD optional

BPF - quit the euphemism, it's just a gift wrapped selling fee

If some people prefer SD, they should have that option - I'm all about freedom of choice.

As for Buyer Protection Fees, personally, I'm against the idea as I think that it is like car insurance, everybody is paying for the reckless drivers. I always go to great lengths to be honest in my listings and I have never had a problem with a buyer because if anything has gone wrong, I have refunded without question. I manage my own risk - just as when I buy a household appliance, I don't take out cover and all my appliances have lasted over ten years - one still going after fifteen years, if any had been defective in that time, the amount I saved in extended warranties would have paid for a new one but instead, I trousered quite a few hundred quid. That might not sound relevant but it is my philosophy for most things involving financial risk.

But when I got the e-mail from eBay proudly announcing the end of private sellers' fees, it was effectively just renaming them and hoping that sellers were too stupid to notice.
