Seller reneges

I won an auction, paid the price then received a refund together with a message that “I” had cancelled the purchase when I had certainly not. The seller sent a message saying the postage was in fact more than it had been listed as and this was the reason he had reneged on the deal. He also claimed eBay had advised him to do so. I’m guessing that is a BS story. The seller has subsequently resisted the item but with increased postage costs. Can anyone tell me what recourse I may have as eBay appear to be singularly disinterested?  Is there anything to stop sellers pretending a purchaser has cancelled when they haven’t?  Any advice much appreciated, thanks

Seller reneges

This is bad selling,  but no one can make a seller post out a winning  / paid for item.

The seller selected Buyer requests to Cancel,  as this avoids receiving a  damaging defect on their account.

If you wish , you can contact eBay Customer Services explain you did not authorise the cancellation and were disappointed not to receive your paid for auction item.  They will probably place that defect on the seller's account.  eBay do not like unhappy buyers,  oh and yes,  that was a tall story your seller told !  😶

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

You can also leave feedback to reflect your experience, but mention no cancellation / refund this is not allowed something along the lines....   ' Very disappointed seller did not fulfill this transaction ' ,  would do.

Yes, there is something to be done, and absolutely MUST be done.

Use the link attached herewith to report the seller for a policy violation, in that he gave a false reason for the cancellation, for which his account will receive a deficit, instead of yours.
