Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

On desktop, when I click "report item" (half way down on the right of the listing), it says

"This feature is no longer supported. To submit a report, go back to the item, tap the three dot icon, select "Help & Report" and then "Submit report." Or, tap the question mark icon and select "Submit report.""

Slight problem.  There are no 3 dots on the listing (although there are on each of the billions of (un)related spam items covering the page).  There is also no sign of a question mark anywhere.  So how the ?!£$ do I report an item?!  Since it refers to "tapping" (horrid word) I assume this message is intended for phones.  Where is the system to report on a desktop?

On desktop the three vertical dots are located just above the Report this item text link, if you click on that 3 dot icon you get an option to Help & Report, just click on that:

Unfortunately that opens a report for the item the dots 'belonged' to - i.e. one of the sponsored listings above the description, not the actual item you want to report.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

But I still have to guess where the sensible price one will be. And they will overlap. Some sellers will have a battery at £2.50, and some sellers will have a battery holder at £2.80 and a battery at £4.

Alternatively, you can simply skip over any variation listing with a price range. You may miss the lowest price, but you will not have to open every listing to see what the actual price is, that way.

The lowest price I currently see for one battery is £2.65, using this search:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=pp3+battery+-holder+-leads+-snap+-connector+-clip+-case&_saca...

And it's a hell of a hassle to do all that anyway, instead of just typing "PP3". Which I could do if sellers didn't cheat.

Unfortunately it is still much easier to change the way you search than it is to convince all sellers not to cheat.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

I am not too sure that there is any point in reporting anything or any seller anyway - the last time I tried (which was some months ago), all I got for my trouble were email replies thanking me for reporting whatever and that they had reviewed the report and found that there was no violation of ebay policies, and nothing is ever done about removing the offending listings.

This was even when the seller was offering very obvious fakes, or was clearly abusing a brand name in the listing title despite it not being anything connected with the brand name used.

Lots of other people have found the same thing, and there were a number of threads/posts along the same lines.  People have even tried contacting CS, but get the same kind of lame replies.   Most of us have given up - life is too short to waste.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

It seems eBay are making it more difficult for people to report sellers who are obviously trade selling as private, I was interested in a car from 'private' seller but when his other listings were checked he was selling 4 other motors... why do eBay allow this?

Reference the last posting about "This feature is no longer supported. To submit a report, go back to the item, tap the three dot icon, select "Help & Report" and then "Submit report." Or, tap the question mark icon and select "Submit report."

I can not find the three dot icon.

Why do ebay change a system that clearly WORKS to a non functioning replacement??

I have just found a reply to this from another ebayer.

There are NO three dot icons (get your act together ebay) however if you look at the item listed and scroll down and look on the right hand side of the screen you will see a ?

Tap on this and off you go.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

I tried to report via the ? Sign (no 3 dots), the options are limited but I reported a motor trader who was selling as private, his history showed cars sold and he had 4 cars listed for sale.
Response from eBay they didn't find he had violated any of their policies.... so he is still allowed to sell as private, what a joke.

Hi
reference my last email to you.
Just look at the amount of cars this chap has listed.
At first glance, all looks O.K.
But check on his dealers web site and there are no cars listed for sale????

Think my record for delayed action was when I chatted to an eBay rep on the phone.

He said the person in question was obviously money laundering (long story)

30,000+ transactions later (same person multiple accounts) they decided to take

action and kick them off eBay.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

The other week, I contacted ebay about a trader selling MANY CARS. Most of which I have seen listed many times before by other sellers.

Nothing to see here came ebays response!! And the adverst remained live.

I see not that they have all disappeared??? So I contacted ebay again.

Below is their reply.

Exactly..   I can see someone committing fraud on a sale of something which i know is as a matter of fact fraudulent and ebay has now prevented us from simply being able to report them.   Why?

There are several different methods to report various policy violations to eBay listed in this thread. Use one or more of those methods.

Keep in mind that not every possible type of fraud involves a listing policy violation that can be identified and acted on in advance by eBay. Some types of fraud, like triangulation fraud, may  only become apparent long after the transaction has been completed.

If you have actual proof that fraud has been committed and eBay cannot help, contact law enforcement directly.

Re: Report item deprecated, 3 dots or question mark non existant on desktop.

Its to protect ebay - they dont want to ban items so they make it impossible to report them. Sell what you want they dont care as long as they can prove they had prodecures in place to report such items.
