Recent purchase, incorrect postcode used.

I bought some boots from a private seller around a week ago. This Wednesday I asked for an update as to when they planned on sending them. They apologised and said Thursday.

No dispatch updates so I contacted them again this morning.

They apologised, said they sent them today and included a screenshot.

Alas, the screenshot showed the postcode used was incorrect.

As an example, it should have been XY25, but they sent it to XY5.

As soon as I saw it I sent them messages including a screenshot of the Order Delivery address, showing the difference.

Is there anything else I should do?

There's nothing else you can do but I think it will be OK.   The first two letters are the area and that's the main thing.   I would expect your local sorting office will spot the mistake unless you're unlucky and there's a road with the same name with similar postcode.

Unfortunately there is another road with similar name and same postcode.

Last time something was misdelivered there the residents actually hand delivered here afterwards.

Hopefully if something goes wrong they may do it again.

But the seller could be in bother though, right?

The tracking code post code doesn't match eBay delivery address post code. So in theory it won't update?

So they may be looking at 14 days for payment?

Hi, yes, they'll have to wait 14 days.    Fingers crossed you get your item, one way or another.

@andha-21

A few questions so that you may then look at options open to you.

Do you know which postal courier was used or if on simple delivery?

Was the screenshot of the actual parcel or the postal receipt?

Tracked or untracked service?

Parcels can be " caught" at the incorrect  destination " hubs" and are usually redirected, so it can take longer to arrive,  this happened to me late last year, and my order arrived ( parcel a bit battered, but contents all okay thankfully as it was a present for a family member ) finally after nearly 3 weeks, it was tracked and with a printed label so I checked on the RM website daily, to follow its journey 😉

Also check the EDD... if it is way over and your boots don't arrive in the next few days, perhaps opening a INR case could be a way forward?

If it tracks and is delived it will be paid out, even if it's to the wrong address. You will then have to contact ebay CS.

I have had items going to the correct postcode incorectly delivered by "Y...." and it takes some convincving of eBay that delivered does not necessarily mean correctly delivered.

Good luck.

It was Royal Mail tracked 24, a photo of the receipt.

& it's already over the EDD. They are saying 5th March.

I'm not trying to cause trouble for the seller, just wondered how their mess up could impact them.

If I receive the boots in the condition advertised I'll be happy. Virtually impossible to find them with good tread anymore as they stopped making them around 4 years ago.

Still the best hiking boots I know of for carrying heavy weights though.

Have you checked on the RM website " track and trace?" that should provide you with the " journey" of your parcel... If it does and you can seee where it is at you can contact RM directly. If it does not ( it should ) I would give the seller a few more days and if they don't turn up open a case, understand you want to be fair and probably the seller does to, but something went amiss and you either should have your boots in hand or your monies returned.

Yes, eBay was good for that, finding things you need to replace and at good prices... getting few and far between now.

Yes, that currently says they are expecting it. The seller advised them that they dispatched today.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope it gets here. If not I'll have to open an INR.

& yes, some things are getting harder to find now. Why I try and pounce when I do find something I like for a price I can afford.

Ahh so the seller has delayed posting, so once it hits the " system" you will be able to monitor - it will probably take a further couple of days...but hopefully you will soon be walking in those hiking boots 😉

I have discussed the  "dispatch" with eBay a number of times because when the ebay labels are used it is marked as "dispatched" when they actually are not and it can take further time depending whether sellers have their post collected or drops off etc...Thus EDD's are incorrect and yet nothing is done?

When I sold I only ever marked as dispatched the very same day the items were posted, ( direct with the Post office, and not using eBay labels)  that way it gave true EDD.
