eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Good afternoon everyone

As many of you are aware eBay introduced automatic positive feedback for business sellers, providing certain criteria's.  The item had been received on time, no issues raised, and the buyer has not left feedback already.

eBay were so excited to announce this improvement to business sellers, (an eBay representative spoke to me at a local meetup).  It was working for a while, and now it appears that this improvement that eBay were so delighted to announce has stopped working "not working as intended"

We had a flurry of sales (now dead) and we should have had the eBay auto feedback implemented,  but this has not happened.

I have raised this with the eBay community chat team on Wednesday 17th September , but as yet heard nothing back.

Has anyone else noticed the eBay auto feedback not being applied?

Best wishes

marco@ebay

Hi

I do not understand the feedback rating, we had 100% positive and then received one negative,  we are now on 99.9% positive.

Best wishes

Feedback is calculated as:
(positive feedback / (positive feedback + negative feedback)) * 100

In your case this is:

(1729 / (1729 + 1)) * 100 = 99.9

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Oh well, It doesn't seem like there's any sort of pattern. It just isn't/wasn't working for certain accounts randomly between August and now.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Thanks 4_bathrooms

This is why it is so important for eBay to fix this issue.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

I'm getting auto feedback, had one yesterday.  I haven't checked against the tracked items I've despatched, but it looks OK.

I did do a count of the first three pages of feedback.  Only 19% is buyer generated, all the rest is auto.  Buyers just can't be bothered, and the seller feedback is rubbish because it has to be positive.

It does seem to have been fixed for the time being, had 19ish land today.

now I cant end listings or amend quantities, as they "ran into a problem"

Beer and watch something on the river instead of working, sounds like a solid plan.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Hi All,

During our weekly chat last week, we addressed the issue and promptly reported it to the appropriate team. We shared user-provided examples, which were reviewed, and the team has confirmed that the process is functioning correctly. In some instances, positive feedback was indeed left, while in others, the absence of feedback was due to delayed item delivery.

It's important to understand the criteria for this process: positive feedback is automatically added to your profile 7 days after tracking confirms successful delivery, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The tracking indicates the item was delivered on time.
  • The buyer has not yet left feedback.
  • The buyer hasn't reported any issues or initiated a return for their order.

When buyers leave feedback, a green light appears next to the item in the seller's orders view.  However, this indicator does not appear when feedback is automatically left.  If you rely on this visual cue to check for feedback, then you might mistakenly believe that automatic feedback was not provided, even though it was. We have brought this to the attention of our development team for consideration as a future enhancement.

With a high volume of orders and multiple quantity orders, tracking feedback can be challenging. However, after thoroughly rechecking the background system, we can confirm it is operating as intended.

Thank you,

Kat

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Sorry Kat@ebay but that plainly isn't correct.

I provided and can provide again hundreds and hundreds of examples of where ebay has not uploaded the tracking number, or if it has uploaded the tracking number from Royal Mail it blatantly ignores such. Items delivered with tracking within the time frame allowed by eBay aren't getting automatic feedback nor are they even being marked as delivered and in most cases not actually marked as dispatched despite us marking it as such.

Would you like hundreds of screenshots posted to disprove your commenta or would say... six do you?

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

I’ve just checked my items without feedback from buyers or automated feedback and the issue seems to be that eBay have not updated the tracking. For each item I clicked on the tracking number and eBay showed the items as despatched but not delivery. If however you check these items on the Royal Mail website each one is shown as delivered. So it would seem that the issue is with eBay not updating the tracking

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

We have similar issues. We use rm24/48. Sometimes the tracking uploads, mostly it doesn't. With thousands sold every month manually uploading tracking isn't an option as it's supposed to be automatically uploaded anyway through click and drop.

So sometimes tracking is uploaded, mainly it isn't. Whenever tracking is uploaded either manually or automatically in the rare times, it is ignored by eBay. Literally ignored. This makes buyers think that their items haven't been tracked and they try a fast one where they open INR cases.  Now in an INR case when tracking is provided automatically or manually,  the ability to change the tracking is locked out if tracking shows as delivered and there is a comment saying 'item delivered" generated by eBay.  Now in our case even when tracking is provided the tracking number is ignored. Going to Royal mail with the tracking - it shows as delivered. So what the hell is going on? We contact ebay customer support by phone every day to manually close cases on buyers who have opened fake INR cases hoping to get a freebie. Every day for several weeks now.  Time consuming for us, even more so for eBay CS.  So in the very rare event, tracking is uploaded automatically and in the rare event eBay do recognise the tracking, no automatic feedback is generated.

Weirdly enough we have a secondary account, with the same RM account, which uses the same postal options and automatic feedback happens several times a day on that account.

So it's not RM, it's eBay and there is no way it isn't. We have provided images to the eBay staff in the community chat, so it's not as if it's not been shown to be an issue and they know it. We speak to eBay CS daily about these fake INR so eBay know it's an issue. So be told it isn't an issue and is working as planned is galling in the extreme.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

So "IF" the system is working as planned by eBay. What's the issue?
So looking at items ordered on our system, we can see items ordered on the 1st September, dispatched on the 1st September via RM48 - some have tracking numbers automatically uploaded but  a week later on the 8th.  Items sent on say the 5th, but have their tracking uploaded on the 13th but delivered on the 8th. Yet eBay have not marked these items as delivered, nor even as dispatched.  So even items which are delivered on time, do not qualify for automatic positive feedback because eBay only uploaded the tracking number a week after the item had been posted.  I have attached a screenshot showing this.

So *technically*   the system is working re: automated feedback, but the feedback is being uploaded automatically a week late, so therefor  the system ignores it. So eBay may be correct re: automated feedback, but their system is broken in another way therefor bypassing the automatic positive feedback. Typical that we have to figure out in which way eBay is broken to tell them. I have been telling them this for months, but guess what... IT say that there isnt a problem.

Our secondary account, selling different items, using the same RM account, has feedback uploaded on the day it was posted thus getting positive automatic feedback.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Dear Kat,

With respect, I do not believe it is fair to make a blanket statement about the auto feedback process without reaching out to sellers individually who has raised issues, and investigating the specific issues they are experiencing.

At the moment, eBay is making it very difficult to view whether auto feedback has actually been left on transactions, and this is part of the confusion.

When auto feedback was first introduced back in April, it was much easier to see. Clicking on “See all feedback” gave a clear view of both buyer feedback and eBay’s auto feedback, all in one place.

However, this no longer seems to be the case. Even when I use the filter for “Auto feedback,” not all entries are shown and this is why we think eBay have not applied the auto feedback.

Furthermore, I believe there is a syncing problem between eBay tracking and couriers like Royal Mail.  eBay states that feedback will be left seven days after the item has been delivered.  You will see that many sellers has raised the issue that eBay are not uploading the tracking in real time

I now have to manually check each sold item, identify the buyer, and try to determine whether feedback was left — which is extremely time-consuming.

It is made even more difficult by the fact that auto feedback displays the item listing number, not the buyers order number.   If we have sold many of the same product, we have to sift through a long list just to confirm if auto feedback was left — and in some cases, it hasn't been.

By contrast, buyer feedback is easy to view and track. Auto feedback should offer the same level of visibility and clarity.

This highlights a wider issue: the current implementation of auto feedback isn’t transparent or seller-friendly.

Rather than focusing on cosmetic updates (like moving the item number from the right-hand side of the listing page, where it used to be bold and easy to find, to a now less visible location),  I would urge eBay to consider improvements that genuinely support business sellers, firstly being making auto feedback easier to track, filter, and match with individual orders.

Anyone wondering where the new listing item number has moved to, please see the screenshot.

Best wishes

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Some more data checking. We post all items RM24/48 therefor tracking is automatic.
So most things dispatched before the 15th have tracking but nothing after that. However items posted on the 15th have had their tracking uploaded on the 27th, despite tracking showing items were delivered on the 17th. eBay do not recognise the items as actually being delivered with items showing as awaiting dispatch.  RM Tracking shows items being delivered on the 17th for items posted on the 15th.

I'm going to do an experiment. I will pick 5 items at random posted last week in and around the 22nd/23rd/24th which we can confirm via RM tracking having been delivered and I will manually upload the tracking today, the 28th.  Lets see if automatic positive feedback appears for those items that the tracking has been manually updated for showing delivery and within 7 working days.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Hello Lincolnshiremarine,

I am having this problem as well and I have double checked that all is marked as delivered and that is up to today 28 September 2025.

Who else should we be telling as it does impact not just business sellers but private sellers as well.

Regards,

Lady Tinks of Tinks Emporium
