At approx 5pm this afternoon, the Port of Calais was stormed / invaded by between 70 to 80 migrants. They ran riot throughout the Docks, overwhelming all border force and Port Staff. Some tried to forcibly board ferries that were in the Port at the time, the Captains ordered the Ferry's Hoses to be used to repel the migrants ( this was done successfully ). They also stormed scores of Lorries, hiding in many of them. No french Police were present, except for the handful present on Duty at the Docks; reinforcements arrived too late to do anything. Three lorries were found to contain migrants and were searched ( confirming this fact ). When this is done, the other Lorries have to be waived through, otherwise Ferry sailing are delayed...........therefore, at least 65 Lorries were loaded on the Ferry(s) without being searched ( how many migrants are on those, is anybodies guess ). Contrary to reports, there are between 5000 to 7000 migrants in Calais, waiting with the sole intention of getting into this Country. When they are caught, stowed away on Lorries, they are simply removed by the French Police; taken down the Road and released again. The French are content ( so it would seem ) to just let them stay there, growing in number day by day. This is just to let you know the truth of the matter and it is getting worse each and every day. This is the Europe ( the Friends ) that we are told we are better off being a part of, one for all and all for one; helping each other.........Partners ( I think that's the terminology used ).

astro.........no, of course I didn't mean to imply that there are NO immigrants in the Valleys of Wales etc. My point was that proportionately; you have less in those sort of places than you do in major Cities, although they may stand out more for obvious reasons. In the Cities, they don't tend to integrate; but more to polarise to existing communities of immigrants, where ( as you stated ) having large families ( amongst other traits ) is the norm for them. Unfortunately, what goes on in the Cities; is brushed off by those arty, farty, liberal types, who glibly put it down to our Cities now being "Cosmopolitan".............the "Buzz" word of the new era.

Lambsy....look around you. Maybe you don't see any signs of crisis where you live. The bigger cities are in crisis, with too many people living in them. And when they are overflowing the excess population will be moved to more rural and poorer areas. I am looking at possible problems in the future. All these people have to be housed, schooled, taken care of healthwise....to say nothing of jobs for them. We are storing up problems for our future generations. Larger families are the norm for some of these people, and they will all have to be taken care of. And my opinions are not based on what I see on TV, or read in newspapers, they are based on what I see with my own eyes. Please do not assume that people who have concerns about immigration and it's consequences are all right wing reactionaries who are just 'spitting out their dummies'. Some of us are actually well educated people who are able to work things out for ourselves, and form our own opinions based on what we actually see and experience.
Do you know what a crisis is?!
You sound like Enoch Powell! "We are storing up problems for our future generations", "Larger families are the norm for these people". Could have come straight from his mouth!
Please don't assume I'm some left-wing hand-wringer, far from it! However issues have to be dealt with rather than moaned about and hyped up. The fact is that issues of immigration have negligible impact on the daily lives of most people and yet some would have us believe we're going to have rivers of blood in the inner cities!
Cut out the hype and deal with the real issues!

No hype Lambsy. There is a crisis at the moment..in Calais. So you think I sound like Enoch Powell? Well...that isn't much of an insult, is it? Mr Powell was a politician who actually thought about Britain's future. His choice of words in his famous speech was very controversial, and I don't defend them. But the fact is that he could foresee problems with multi-culturalism. He could see that it would not work, and indeed it is not working. You actually sound like a person who has his head in the clouds, unwilling, or unable to see what is going on in this country. As for rivers of blood....was there not a very brutal and inhuman, bloody murder last year when a serving soldier was killed? Maybe that was the type of occurrence that Mr Powell could foresee? Because immigration has no impact on your life, don't assume that that is the case for others.
I don't assume immigration doesn't impact others but I know it doesn't impact many! Yes there was a crisis in Calais, now that actually was a crisis, if only short-lived. I don't agree that multi-culturalism doesn't work, it just doesn't work with all people all of the time, pretty much like nothing does!
If there is so much going on in this country why don't you tell me about it? We have the very sad case of Lee Rigby recently and Stephen Lawrence 20 years ago. Please can you fill me in with all the attrocities that have taken place over the years due to failed multi-culturalism?

Someone should be filled in that's for sure Mr Lambsy
At #23 You say to her: do you know what a crisis is?!'' And you also say to her: ''cut out the hype and deal with the real issue.'' I think the only issue she has is YOU being so damn rude. And your rants are not improving matters either.
I suggest that YOU might consider NOT being so damn rude & bossy. And you also say to her if there is so much going on in this country why don't she tell YOU about it ? What another rediculous question. She has given her opinion.
Oh yes I know what's coming so yeah, yeah, yeah.....in advance

I don't see the relevance of the statistic to the point in question, though clearly excluding Scotland & Wales is incorrect.
Greenland has a population of about two sheep and a goat called bob.Monaco is probably 7 times more densely populated
Barbados, Maldives, several times more dense, even more so including tourists, I don't see people packing up and leaving for Greenland.
Greece significantly less dense, but I doubt many would argue they are in a better position than the UK, Germany etc
But it actually wasn't the question being posed which was about the rather odd idea that all AS wanted to come here
Clearly the latest stats don't support that. But I fear it will have no impact on some, who will continue to believe what they wish
because of their 'views'
Hardly surprising the last CM blocked these threads in general
AS are a fairly negligible statistics taken overall. Unfortunately for some, influx is always taken as a bad thing per se, which isn't correct.

If some would rather believe their own bigotry, come what may; that isn't 'informed' or 'educational' it's just wilful ignorance

You could begin with the estimated 1400 young girls, abused by gangs of Pakistani men in Rotherham? Have you not heard about that up there in your Ivory Tower? The 7/7 bombings? I'm sure both of those examples had an impact on some people's lives.
So gangs of young men from an ethinic origin other than White British can be blamed on failed multiculturalism can it? If it had been white men and Asian girls would you have claimed this?
And the 7/7 bombings? All down to failed multiculturalism, are you sure? Nothing to do with invading countries in the Middle East and bringing trouble to our doorstep?
So your attempt has brought up 2 instances over a 9 year period; anything else?!
