Hi,
There is definitely a big problem, for sellers not being able to complete purchases.
And buyers who are trying to desperately work out why sellers tell them they will send, but they are unable to buy.
I spent an hour last night trying to change my postal address, from United Kingdom, to Guernsey, to Channel Islands, sometimes with postcode, sometimes without.
Even eBay suggested an address for me, which was just plain wrong.
I can see sellers have post costs displayed, I change the address, post then disappears.
Sellers will display that they will send to United Kingdom, I've changed my address to United Kingdom, ebay tells me that the seller will not send to me, I should change my address.
Really really Pi%%ed off with eBay, big time.
I have looked again and again for answers here, too many "could be this.. possibly" answers.
6 purchases lost, 6 sellers less than happy, 6 lots of money for eBay gone, do they care anymore !.

It's because Evri (one of ebay's chosen couriers for Simple Delivery) treats the Channel Islands as non-UK. Royal Mail treats them as UK and charge the same price. Sellers are able to opt out of using Evri in their postage preferences which should help.

Thank you for your reply,
I can't help thinking it's what buyers / place the sellers click to accept bids / offers / purchase from.
This is the sort of thing I might buy.

So i've tried to buy it just now,
I get this ..
- Update your delivery address and try again.
- Or find similar items from another seller.
I live on bl**dy Guernsey, I can't change that !.
I cannot get someone to accept it in the UK and send it on, the cost is prohibitive.
Almost every time, the seller will send no problem, but it won't work out !!.

You can message the seller and ask them to opt out of Evri in their postage preferences.

On that listing Channel Islands (and jersey🤷🏼♀️) is on the sellers postage exclusion list
maybe something to do with that

I'll give it a try, and look at the lists also, thanks.
To be fair, that seller plainly states that they will not ship out of the United Kingdom, military stuff etc.

any other examples from a different seller?

Unfortunately yes !,
Today I had to cancel this one, really helpful seller, understood completely.

Last night, with much frustration, got through the change of address situation, sellers post cost was displayed, made an offer.
The seller accepted it, I went to pay, the post had disappeared, and ....
- Update your delivery address and try again.
- Or find similar items from another seller.
Wha Th Fu ! ! !.

The item says they only post to the UK.
Even though you are in Guernsey, you might for some reason want it posted somewhere else i.e. the UK.
With my UK based ebay account and default UK address I have bought things on ebay.com.au (and ebay.co.uk) from sellers who only post to Australia - and had them sent to a relative in Australia.
And if ebay actually (wrongly) includes Guernsey in the UK, then I would guess it blocks you as the postage is Simple Delivery and Royal Mail Tracked does not/may not scan at your address - as per RM t&cs.

Guernsey does not exist as a stand alone place.
In as far as, if you have an address as Channel Islands, Guernsey, you will find that there are hardly any sellers who will have items that show up in any search.
It's so difficult, and time consuming, knowing that it will likely end in you not being able to buy what you want.

Off topic but EBay have jersey as a totally different country ie classed as non eu country
Royal Mail may deliver to the Channel Islands as if was part of the uk but somethings not right in the postage system
seems no one knows what so if you don’t know the problem you can’t fix it
anyone posted to
guernsey or jersey with no problems ? Recently
I think brexit might be involved in it too
could always email eve.williams@ebay.co.uk and ask her what the score is

I don't really understand, both your examples the seller says they only post to the UK, and your address isn't in the UK.
Has it changed (i.e. less items available) e.g. since last year? If so, I expect it is SD related, either for the reason I gave, the Evri reason or something else.

OK, I set up a listing - you can see it clicking on view listings next to my name. It uses Simple Delivery.
I then looked at it from another account, using a Guernsey delivery address. On the item page it shows the Simple Delivery UK cost - to my Guernsey address.
BUT when I add it to the basket and go there - it shows the delivery cost I've selected for Europe. Unfortunately your sellers don't post to Europe. You could try and persuade them to.

As a private seller based in Jersey I have a similar problem. eBay insists that I am selling from a location different to my address and blocks my potential sale advising me to create a Warehouse application. Absolute nonsense ! I've tried removing Jersey from the address but as soon as I enter the postcode I am unable to complete my listing.
I am totally fed up and have started selling on eBid without any listing problems at all.

I've no real idea - but if you want help on here - your best chance is to post screenshots of the error message and anything else you think relevant; on a new thread - with a good description in the title, not to be too critical of ebay and hope that one of the reps take a look. Also best not to post the new thread at the weekend.
My best guess is that Jersey accounts are tweaked UK accounts and that Simple Delivery can't handle it. Can you list something over £751 as a test, for example? Or it may be that Jersey is classed as UK for some things and Europe for another - see my message 13 - I got a UK postage rate on one page and Europe for another [for Guernsey delivery address].

N'ah, it's all gone wrong.
I literally give up.
3.. yes 3 more, potential purchases cancelled, I do not get it at all.
Most of your suggestions have been tried, they have all had issues.
Some suggestions work sometimes, in conjunction with me tweaking my address.
But no one suggestion or change, works for all.. all of the time.
Something new this evening, I had an offer sent to me, the item £13.00 + £3.75 post, I clicked to check out, post went through the roof to £35.00.
I cannot be bothered to try to sort it out, it's every bl$$dy time I want to buy or bid.
I need a new buying platform.
Cheers all.

Ebays problem to sort
Channel Islands is uk postage end of
did this problem occur before simple delivery ? Or after
I’ve posted a few things to jersey and guernsey in last year or so no problem
26-07-2025 11:49 PM
Yes, and no !.
It is, but in this context, my / sellers / eBay understandings can be / are different, if all the details don't align.. it just don't work.

"Most of your suggestions have been tried, they have all had issues."
I've only made one suggestion which is the seller needs to specify a postage rate which covers Guernsey i.e. a Europe rate (or a Worldwide rate). It is complicated because the postage cost to Guernsey is likely to be less than to France etc. I think there's ways to handle that, but you've already made your decision.
[Also see message 5].
Your new thing is, if I understand it correctly, explained (or at least documented) in my message 13.
