Ebay is now forcing me into SD with no custom delivery option
The largest postage offered under SD is 61cm
There seems to be no way to list anything over 61cm and get the correct postage, even if you declare the dimensions in the listing height, width etc
anyone figured out what to do or does ebay just want us to take large items elsewhere?

Set the price to £800 and then refresh and you should then have more options.
I am trying to list something that is 80cm long and now have the option of a large item and parcel force as the courier. Or I can choose other courier. It says the item is too large for simple delivery, so hopefully that means I can organise the postage myself like the old system as I need them to collect it from me.

the largest is 120cm.
private seller under sd, you will need to check /tick both rm and evri as couriers, select parcel size and then weight. At sale point and print label in the package icon, center, hover and the size of 120cm will display as enclosed picky.
remember, sd your goods are covered. go outside the sd and the fight for any loss is yours and good luck contacting that chosen courier.

If you’re happy to use evri and have nothing over 15kg or 120 cm then alls well
the whole point is many are not , either because they don’t have a drop off point ,or because they don’t trust them not to smash or lose it, or because eBay won’t cover some items or because their parcel is actually bigger and heavier
ergo SD must be allowed in that instance to be overridden by eBay and at the moment it’s impossible without workarounds
SD is for run of the mill stuff ie small and medium parcels and in this case it runs well (apart from the lack of ability to add packaging costs)
it is not for light cheap small or heavy and bigger items

Yes, I'm in a similar position regarding needing to use up postage stamps. I have hundreds, probably 5 years' worth (5 decades with SD on most items).
One of the solutions is to sell them on, though on Ebay that's now harder as for no particular reason they're prohibited under SD (altho' perfectly fine with Royal Mail) and Ebay has removed your seller protection. So you have to make sure you use custom postage anyway.
The problem with using a £9.99 item price and loading the postage is that it may invite poor feedback, even with your explanation. I haven't tried letter postage for larger items but I understand there is no exemption from SD in many categories.
Thus the easiest solution is to enter dimensions that make your package oversized. Most buyers will know that a book of stamps is less than a metre long.

i've had issues with evri, rm, parcel force and yodel.
given the choice I avoid rm as, from experience, i was not able to provide proof of purchase. Relative was informed rm do not factor in the profit, she was buying at boot sales for a under a fiver expecting to get the sale price of 40 back! would you, as a business, compensate the 40?
of sd there are only two dedicated couriers, evri and rm. Having opted out of rm i found the postal rate increased so both, rm and evri, are now ticked in my account. that posting is chosen by ebay or buyer, i go with the flow. SD prices are cheaper than if I went through my personal evri account.
what does it matter if goods are lost or broken if you get the selling price because sd, from experience, refunds both buyer and seller in full?
medium parcel under sd goes up to 20kg
you speak of packaging, put that cost on the selling price of goods or do what i do, source boxes bubble wrap, polysterene locally, free. If one needs so much packaging then the question of if they are a business or private seller. I know four neighbours who shop at charity shop, boot sales and market places for items soley to flog on here, under private seller. they are buying to sell. I am clearing my late Mum's estate and now my collections and indeed tools as i have no option but to downsize.
sd works for me, i no longer have to waste my time trying to contact couriers or provide evidence.
I double box items and follow the guidelines.
sd offers protection, would you go on holiday without the protection of insurance?
I'm of the opinion many on here object to the posting prices set by sd. I'm of the opinion its those who want to load the posting to cover any expenses.

"Neighbours" who buy to sell on here are going to be in trouble as ebay now forward your details to HMRC, even if you are a private seller once your sales exceed £1800

with you on dont get the hate. WHY, it really is so simple and quick. Posting is cheaper, labels pre filled, goods covered and no time wasted fighting with courier as to where the goods are, if you can talk to them.

I went direct to my usual delivery option and just added the tracking details later on.

They are all as bad, I have seen RM worker prop the door open in the post office and launch bags of parcels out of it from the counter , then drag them to the van and launch them once again inside. I comment to him about it and he said oh they will be fine.

Amusingly this means the category for Cycling Components - Handlebars is now pointless for private sales
All bike handlebars are wider than 61cm - and there's no option at all to use custom postage now
I'm sure that if I enabled Evri labels it might be fine as they'll take anything - but then they rarely deliver anything in one piece so I'd really rather now

It’s impossible that eBay won’t allow sales of large items by private sellers but that’s what they’re doing at the moment
the ball is in their court to fix their problem
meanwhile as posted above , try the solution workaround

We all know about some of the benefits of SD
the actual problem here is that SD cannot be used for larger and heavier parcels so there is no point you promoting it all the time on a thread about larger
parcels
SD is not a benefit for eBay sellers in any shape or form whatsoever in this instance
go send larger and heavier parcels eBay instruct you to use custom delivery but they’ve made it impossible to do so at the moment hence this workaround thread which is the only choice for sellers of larger and heavier parcels 🙄

wef 06.0825 my workaround has changed - it is a bit of an untested as yet rush job - someone give it a try to full listing please: https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/How-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm-Part-two/m-...
