Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I’m not disagreeing with you, I absolutely agree that it’s fair to compensate for a damaged item. However, in this case, the buyer wasn’t being honest. The item was already broken, and he tried to get an extra discount by deliberately moving the broken part out of place to make it look worse. My point is that sellers have no way of warning others about dishonest buyers. The fact that he was claiming to be trustworthy because of his positive feedback is pretty pointless when the system doesn’t even allow negative feedback for buyers. Sorry for getting into this, it’s another topic altogether.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

this is the latest insane new procedure ebay is bringing in,.

so basically if I sell 100 items to 100 different buyers and it costs me £4.25 shipping on each I am now expected to front £425 to ship these items whilst ebay hold the money.

what happens if you are selling items because you haven't got any money.

ebay just keeps getting worse.

yes but you will still have to go to the post office and ship the item with your own money before that money clears which is after delivery or will ebay be sending the shipping money straight away and then the money for the sale of the item after delivery, I doubt that.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I don't think they will unless you use simpleton delivery, in which case I think they email you a label or QR code, but I won't be having that either.

I didn't think of that!  🙈

Unless they intend to follow the other selling site & the buyer selects and pays for shipping.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

With Simple Delivery you won’t pay anything for postage. The buyer will buy it from ebay at checkout (there will be a choice of standard (evri) and express (Royal Mail), and you will be sent the label to use. You won’t have anything to do with the postage other than having to run around to whatever drop off point the label requires.

I’m not having that. I have stopped buying and ended my listings as I’m not putting up with that. My account will be closed as soon as 30 days from my last sale (last week) is up.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

jond1492 said "ebay Sellers should be allowed to do the same: demand that the cost of postage is paid immediately to us, so we can send out goods quickly, even if the rest of the payment is withheld until delivery status is confirmed, as proof of good faith on the buyer's part!"

As a buyer I'd be more than happy for sellers to have the postage up front (or an allowance for postage where it's free postage, if eBay continue to allow free postage). eBay, this can and should happen. It's unarguably practical for the seller. It's only fair: eBay don't care if it's fair or if it looks fair, but that's because they under-estimate appearances; I think a lot of outrage over various eBay policies is that they look greedy and/or unfair.

Such a change re postage is something eBay could easily do it, just a matter of doing the computer programming.

However, I don't think it'd show "good faith" by the buyer, though I'm all for something if it helps a seller feel happier or more confident. "Good faith" is irrelevant here, I think, as once a buyer pays then eBay takes over the control of funds, allocating them as and when eBay alone sees fit. For good buyers (most buyers, and I'd like to include myself), we're under eBay's control too.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

eBay knows it could accept buyer feedback that clearly shows the item's been delivered.

Admittedly few buyers leave feedback, but where they do it's only fair for their sellers to be paid. Obviously it's be a matter of which occurred first: seller feedback or tracking showing delivered.

Thing is, when someone holds someone else's money in their fist, they often start to think of it as theirs, and you have to prise the fingers apart to retrieve what's yours. That's how eBay has made me think of them lately.

eBay's excuse for ignoring "received" etc on seller feedback is, I read on the discussion boards (sorry I forget who posted it), that feedback could be left in error - how can saying "received" be in error?

eBay conveniently applies the "proof by tracking only" policy to ALL customers = more money for eBay to keep control over and earn interest on; such so-called equality is transparently a ploy, as they have other policies that treating customers differently e.g. paid promotions and of course private v. business seller.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

The feedback left in error means to the actual order not the comment.

I have feedback left from people thanking me for the bike I sent, we don't and have never sold a bike. This has happened multiple times on all different items over the years and months.

We have negative feedback left by people a couple claiming the plants we sent had were dead on delivery, we have never sold plants amongst other things, eBay would not remove it and the buyers just ignored us.

Also there is some very vindictive buyers out there, if they know a seller won't be paid unless feedback has been left they won't even entertain leaving feedback for a seller just out of spite.

The tracking is for a buyer so they know that their item has been shipped and the expected delivery day which helps them make arrangements to accept delivery and also gives them confidence the item has been sent and not just marked as dispatched, I find it annoying when I buy from any seller and there is no tracking.

Tracking is industry standard these days in ecommerce, all buyers expect it now and this isn't going away.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I always send my items tracked for my benefit and not the buyers.

Last weekend i purchased an item £130.00..........marked as despatched Monday with NO tracking 😞

When i receive it it will be interesting to see if it is actually tracked and how its packed as its real gold.

I am praying its not been sent in a normal envelope as it will be obvious what the item is 😞  large cameo

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Yes I know. This is how eBay are coining it in. They're dragging in new
sellers by saying it's free to sell but it's very much not. eBay are
holding proceeds from the sale in their bank account making interest.
They've struck up deals with couriers & take a massive cut from them,
forcing sellers to use their expensive services and there'll be less
deliveries marked as delivered as the longer they hold funds the more
interest they make. They're forcing private sellers to become business
sellers & getting selling fees on a greater scale. They're getting the new
buyers fees. I'm not listing or buying from eBay anymore & will be closing
my account. The treatment of sellers has always been poor but this is next
level. Sellers out of pocket spending their time chasing their money.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I just had a notification come up on my account saying basically the way we are getting paid is changing from February.

It no longer says 4th Feb.......just February.  So could it now be from the 1st???

@1956glyn the actual Payments Terms of Use page, which is where you'll find the important legal mumbo jumbo governing the new policy about payments being held until after delivery, still says the 4th.

I don't think it's likely they will, but should eBay try to start enforcing that part of the policy before February 4, I'd recommend reporting it to whatever relevant trading standards and other regulatory bodies would be appropriate.

I bet they're not ready their end and that shows their incompetence doesn't
it? As per usual they haven't even started this new process and their
fiddling and changing things. It doesn't instill confidence does it !!
It's all going wrong before it's started. I laughing because I can just see
eBay sitting scratching their heads say " mmm!,! Nah, that's not gonna work
let's try this or maybe we'll could try that mmmm,!! I know let's go back &
see what other ideas are on the back of the toilet door 😞

While they are holding your money they will be taking all of the interest! The longer they keep it the more money they make!
