Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

The only problem with Simple delivery is the seller then has to go to which
ever courier the buyer selects. For example, there is just a post office in
the sellers village (seller would normally post there) but the nearest Evri
or Yodel is 10 miles away. (Uk) Again it’s not fair on sellers.
Seems things are a changin' all the time re Simple Delivery and Buyer Protection rulings.
Here's the lates on SD.
Last month, we also added the ability to control what carriers you send your items with. Simple Delivery currently uses two carriers: Royal Mail and EVRi. By default, you’ll be automatically opted in to use both carriers. However, if you have a specific preference because the drop-off location is too far from where you live, you can easily adjust your settings in your postage preferences.

Unfortunately, it appears ebay put up the price of the postage if you only use *one* of the options and don't give the buyer the option of both... ☹️
Up until now, I've been very keen on seeing *both* sides of the changes; good and bad. And trying to see ebay simply and understandably as a business making businesslike decisions to make the most profit.....
I'm now starting to think I've been too optimistic, and ebay do actually want to be rid of private sellers but are too cowardly to say so outright.

I will have to use tracked and signed for postage from now on! Do we have to let eBay know when the items are shown as delivered?

Just make sure the tracking number is uploaded - this is automatic if you buy direct from eBay, otherwise you will have to enter it manually,

Yes, eBay state that delivery costs may increase when excluding carriers but in fact their published prices clearly show that the cost will increase if you exclude a carrier, generally a small increase when excluding Royal Mail and a much larger one when excluding Evri, so a total contradiction!
For items sold between £0-100
Item weight & size | Both carriers selected | EVRi only | Royal Mail only |
750g large letter | £2.70 | £2.94 | £2.73 |
0-1kg parcel | £2.94 | £2.97 | £3.74 |
1-2kg parcel | £3.71 | £4.06 | £4.27 |
2-10kg parcel | £5.36 | £5.89 | £6.65 |
10-15kg parcel | £7.19 | £7.26 | £10.55 |
15-20kg parcel | £10.55 | £10.66 |
For items sold above £100
Item weight & size | Both carriers selected | EVRi only | Royal Mail only |
750g large letter | £3.42 | £3.72 | £3.46 |
0-1kg parcel | £3.42 | £3.45 | £3.94 |
1-2kg parcel | £4.26 | £4.66 | £4.47 |
2-10kg parcel | £5.88 | £6.46 | £7.27 |
10-15kg parcel | £8.41 | £8.50 | £12.34 |
15-20kg parcel | £12.34 | £12.47 |

So their recent update was actually really sneaky.
Allow the seller to choose courier, hike the postage prices due to that and they still left a backdoor for themselves so they can use the unselected one anyway.
Damn, have to admit. There's a few brain cells behind that one.

Thanks for that, saved it for future reference.
I always use rm tracked 48 and that costs £2.70 direct from rm for large letter up to 750g, which is the same with sd prices as long as both postage options are available to the buyer.
Up to 2kg direct from rm tracked 48 is £3.39 but £3.71 for sd and £4.27 if only rm is available to the buyer so ebay are making extra there.
Not sure about the prices for item values £0-£100 and £100 plus, didn't think rm split it like that, just get £150 for tracked 48 items direct.

No there’s NO BRAIN CELLS behind it at all like trumps America insane

No there are with that one. The option they left for sellers to choose is a trap.
A very sneaky one.
Seller says no Evri, postage skyrockets earning eBay more.
Those two are directly linked.
But eBay left themselves a backdoor on that seller choice so they can change it whenever they want.
So you remove Evri, get top tariff post and they can still use Evri anyway.
That's seriously devious.
I think my collected posts show I'm not pro eBay, but that is smart, in the cunning, conniving form.

Yes the new 17th March rules cover almost everything, very smart expensive lawyer that we are paying for

I am sticking to tracked and signed with Royal Mail from now on. I’m not going to sell cheaper items any more as the postage will cost too much. I will prob give up altogether as I tend to sell clothing for £5-25 ish and I’m not waits for 2 weeks for payment .

This is basically eBay holding a gun to your heads! It's obscene that if we offer both choices as Sellers, then we get reduced postage costs. Offer only one, and our costs increase. Don't offer both, and a Buyer can still select their preferred postal courier, and the Seller has to send it by that service, no matter how inconvenient or how much hassle/extra costs we incur to do that.
Screw eBay, this much hassle just isn't worth it now!

The buyer only gets to choose between Standard and Express delivery, they can't choose which carrier.
