Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

eBay doesn't care will hold on your money no matter what.

eBay has decided to hold my funds and extend the resolution timeline by add an additional 10 days to allow more time for delivery, completely disregarding the buyer's understandable dissatisfaction over not receiving the item in time for a birthday gift.

Despite raising several points with customer service, their responses have been dismissive and unhelpful. They even had the nerve to suggest that I’ve been “patient,” which is far from the truth. I’ve already provided the tracking details showing that the item is in transit, yet eBay continues to hold my funds until the item is delivered.

I've expressed my extreme disappointment to eBay, and once my funds are released, I plan to close my account. This entire ordeal has made it clear that eBay does not adequately support sellers like me, even when we’ve done everything right. This situation is not my fault, yet I’m the one being penalized by having my funds held.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

It’s been an incredibly quiet selling period for the past few weeks which is odd as listings haven’t even been getting views.

I think like most here will wait and see what happens, eBay holding my money is an annoyance but I am more interested in the integration of tracking with eBay

I have sold several items to the Isle of Man the item has been received by the buyer but it still states it’s only been posted - 7 weeks after he received.

it’s a shame there isn’t a rival to the eBay platform.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I had two items sent by RM Track 48 recently.  They were confirmed as delivered on the RM website within two to three days but eBay did not show delivery as confirmed until well over a week after that.  CS said there was nothing they could do but I can see them holding on to my money for the full 14 days under the new regime if they can get away with it.  I don't make a lot of money out of eBay so I have been quite happy to withdraw funds weekly.  From now on, I will be withdrawing funds as soon as it shows as available even if it's just a couple of quid.

They'll soon realise they are losing their sellers & the new ones will soon
disappear too. less sellers means less buyers so eBay will be on their
knees & back to the drawing board. Good luck with your future selling and
I'm sure you'll find a fairer transparent platform to sell from. ♥️♥️

It's also incredibly frustrating to deal with agents who are clearly instructed to say, "We value your loyalty after 14 years with eBay", yet they disregard your issue, blame the system as if overwriting it is impossible, and treat you like you're new to the platform while patronising you. What a load of nonsense!

Don't you question how it is strange that you have sold several items to the Isle of Man?

Be interesting to know if it was to the same person?...

Different person each time,

it is very strange but trying to contact RM for details was equivalent to chewing barbed wire.

They simply said they don’t know it’s a tracking issue.

It has made me reconsider selling to IOM but I’m yet to be burnt so maybe tempting fate but it’s clearly an issue.

Another thought on this issue.  I've just sold something to a buyer with zero feedback.  That's ok, we all started off with zero feedback.  Nonetheless, under the new regime, this buyer is more highly trusted by eBay than a member of twenty years with 100% positive feedback.  Is that fair?

It's not fair, and I find it outrageous that sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers. Once, I had a buyer who claimed an item was damaged during transit and wanted to return it. He insisted I should trust him because he had 100% positive feedback. What a joke!

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

It's an eBay policy violation to leave a negative feedback for a buyer,  hence a buyer can only have 100% good feedback.

The leaving of negative feedback was banned many years ago,  because some sellers were abusing the feedback system.  For example,  some were holding back items until a buyer left good feedback for them.

IF an item gets damaged in transit then the seller has to refund the buyer and then try and claim compensation from the carrier.    Things do occasionally get damaged in transit no matter how well one packs them.

How would you feel if you were a buyer who received a damaged item?

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I agree (although that's a different topic). The change was made as sellers would leave negatives for buyers who left negatives (tit for tat) which deterred buyers from leaving negatives. There needs to be a better way to report rogue buyers although I would ask, How do you know the item wasn't damaged during transit? If it was he/she was perfectly entitled to open a return.

I sold a pair of vases, one got damaged in the post.  The buyer provided photos .  I offered a partial refund which was accepted, she left positive feedback, I got compensation from RM.  No drama.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I’m now bringing my listings to and end, on feb the 1st anything still listed will be ended. I will no longer sell if I can’t receive MY money and eBay gains interest from holding it. I also won’t be buying as not paying 75p per item. 17yrs with eBay and this is the worst decision yet. Bye bye eBay as of 2nd Feb.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Absolutely. No matter how well you pack items, occasionally a parcel gets damaged. It's part of selling and posting. Good that you got compensation from RM; I bought a painting and paid for them to deliver (delivery cost over £30) and the glass was shattered and the frame broken.  RM refused compensation, so I had to accept the loss and pay to reframe. It was an original painting of my 96-year old Dad's ship King George V and his reaction on receiving the gift was worth a hundred times more than the financial loss caused by damage, but do make sure when you pay for compensation that you are actually covered!

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

As a private seller myself.  This doesn't bother me at all.  As I am just selling unwanted items that would have  gone to the charity shop anyway.   I always send tracked which covers the cost of the item I am selling.

What does bother me is this

ebay is adding buyer fees for private sellers in the UK starting February 4, 2025. The fee is called the Buyer Protection Fee and is included in the price of the item.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I always send tracked too (it avoids the scammers who claim 'item not arrived'), but do check the compensation small print; Royal Mail doesn't cover some items (even by special delivery) and if you use Evri, it covers almost no items!

Yes wise to do that!

I find most cover up to £25 though and it's very very rare that I sell anything over that anyway.

RM refused on first ask but I followed up with an email (there was an address for "appeals" or some such).  Always worth a go.
