Went to list something just now and the post service options have completely changed since yesterday. I usually list with free post (I then select yodel as that's my nearest/best priced drop off centre), but there's no option to offer free post. I'm forced to list with *whatever* ebay has chosen, which might be a service miles away from me making post a nightmare. Why why why mess about with this when it was working fine.... (I have my own ideas of why it was changed, you can guess my thoughts...)

Number 3 of the clicks to use custom postage and not simple delivery, but you have to do it every time you list.

This has infuriated me too! It used to be easy to list on my phone app, but now it’s not giving you the option to choose custom postage, which means having to get onto my laptop to painstakingly change the postage to custom postage on every single item I’m listing. They really don’t want us private sellers anymore do they! 🤦♀️

The buyers still want us, i'm moving to where i can treat them right

You need to giggle the postage options to get the automatic new eBay overpriced postage to disappear:-(
I now have to flip click between 'collect & postage' and then back to 'postage only' in order for the usual add postage service options becomes available - I hope that helps:-)

If there's an alternative please tell! eBay is becoming ever more problematic - and greedy - as a platform, so it'd be great to be able to pass on my bargains without the hassle and cost of doing business here!

I think they meant jiggle. Certainly made me giggle though.

Come on ebay you always have to change things but older people like me don't like it. I couldn't find how to change the shipping back to how it was as I get my postage on parcel2go & RM. NOTE I just found out how to change it back but its still annoying.

I'm just had two items sell yesterday, that I originally set up using the custom option for postage. Imagine my surprise when I went to buy a postage label for them and the selecting my best option was not available! Instead I got a QR code for the postage label as decided by ebay! I'm infuriated as my postage cost doesn't just account for the courier cost but there is a cost involved for me to buy postage bags and labels and petrol to drop the parcels off. So now I have to add those costs to the items price. Dpoje with agent and she said the only way to opt out was to set up business policies for postage! I'm fed up with ebay. Might as well use Vinted for my items. I'm finding my items are selling so slowly now on ebay. I think the younger generation are all using other platforms. Good bye ebay from me !

No, they don’t seem to want private sellers anymore, what with the postage and this buyer protection which is a rip off. I’ve sold an item for £1.20 and eBay have charged buyer 77p on top for this buyer protection.
When my current items have sold that will be it for me.

Well it certainly *looks* that way....😢
But I'm not sure that was the driving intention, just an un-thought through side effect:
Ebay can see other sites (like V inted) functioning in a similar way with these 'new rules'.
And ebay can see them functioning *succesfully* to the point of being serious competition!
So ebay have decided that they need to compte with them and try to gain the same young, hip and funky customer base, by functioning in a similar way.
So shopping on ebay becomes 'just like V inted' 😀!
And selling in ebay( "free to sell') becomes 'just like V inted' 👍!
But ebay forgot , in their desire to be young, hip and funky, that a very large propotions of their private sellers are *not*!
A lot of private sellers have been here for many years, and fallen into comfortable selling methods and routines that we do not want to change.......
And this isn't simply because ...'Get with it grandma, 👵all you old fogies hate change. The world's not going to wait around for you! etc etc ....
Yeh, I'm not keen on change, but if it's change for the better I'm not going to knock it 😊
These do not, however appear to be changes for the better.
They're changes for the worse for lots of us.
The only improvement they make is to ebay's bottom line.

Anything under £10 and under 100 grams can use custom postage

Also I'm still using custom postage on app, just click simple delivery and it gives option for custom post , on browser click collect only then back to post only and option appears at bottom for primary postage and you can choose your own from there
