When I go to create a listing an item I now get a choice between Simple Delivery or Custom postage. If I select Simple Delivery I am asked to select a weight / size band from a choice of six. If I select Custom postage though, there is no where to enter weight and dimensions. There always used to be before Simple Delivery came in but it has disappeared now. (I'm using Seller Hub on a computer browser.)
Not really a problem, except I'm signed up for GSP. How does GSP know how much to charge for shipping? Do they charge the same for a postcard as they do for a 30kg parcel?
It does say "You choose your postal courier, service and price with advanced settings". Where are these advanced settings?
...........
I've just checked some of my existing GSP enabled listings and no price is being quoted for overseas countries, it tells buyers to contact me for a price.
Can we not use GSP if we don't use Simple Delivery?
Another can of worms ...

I don't know if this may be related to what you are experiencing, but some sellers have had their GSP turned off so may be worth a quick look to see if you've also had it switched off & if so switching it back on to see if you get the weights & measures back:

Thanks
I haven't had a chance to investigate fully, and I may have hit it whilst it is rippling through, but looking at some of my listings using edit, some have GSP selected and some have it deselected and greyed out; nothing obvious different between the listings.
I think I will wait and see over the weekend, to see if it becomes clear if this is all a mistake or deliberate, but I may have to stop selling overseas.

Odd.
All my listings have GSP enabled. None of them, as far as I can see, quote a price for shipping for any country. They all instruct the potential buyer to contact me for a quote. Yet I just received an order from France out of the blue, no prior contact, using GSP.
It's almost as if I can't see the prices but buyers who are actually overseas can.

Are you selling on private or business account, for this sale?
I'm wondering if this could be a Simple Delivery thing. Maybe they are rolling it out in GSP first as a test bed.

A private account. When I list I am offered Simple Delivery as an option which I do not take up.

But isn't that the point of Simple Delivery. The buyer chooses.
For them to order they must be able to see a price (which you haven't given?) and choose it. Unless things have gone pear shaped.

I am not using Simple Delivery. A UK buyer sees my price for shipping and takes it or leaves it, as it has always been. A buyer in France will also see a price, which will have had the GSP shipping price added to it by Ebay. I always used to be able to see that price when I looked at my listings prior to the item being sold. Now I can't. But it looks as if it can still be seen by overseas customers, is still being added by Ebay.

That's why I'm saying what I said.
Looks like eBay chooses the pricing options. Buyer chooses from those.
That's exactly how Simple Delivery was described initially.
Whether you choose yes or no is irrelevant to a system where the buyer/eBay supposedly gets to choose. Especially when it's made mandatory.
I'm not saying 100% it is that, just that it could be.

I don't think you are getting what the OP is saying.
This is a screenshot when making a listing of the postage options - SD or Custom:
This is what you see if you select SD and use the dropdown to select a size (you just pick size, eBay decide service and cost):
And this is what you get if you select the Custom option and pick your own service and price (as you would normally do it):
There used to be an option to add weight and size, but this is no longer there.

That is because there is a maximum weight in each size so no need to variance when using SD
So in the list
1 is a letter 2 is a large letter 3 and 4 are technically the same if you have RM as your preferred carrier small parcel. % is medium parcel and so on

I'm bemused too.
Could Ebay be using your UK postal selection <e.g. RM small parcel> as the size & weight maximum to cost the GSP price?
Are you able to log out of your account & then view one of your items as if you're in France to see what the French see re: postage & charges?

But the Op wasn't using SD, they were using Custom.
Did you check the screenshot for 'Custom Postage' (the last one). THAT is the one the OP selected and there is nowhere to add weight or measurement, when there was before.

They need to read the page themselves and pick a primary service this brings up another page.
I agree it a complete mess with the change they have made.

That is available on the actual listing you add the weight and size there, it has disappear from the postage page and you need to use the sizes they show that is why i explained it the way i did.
Different sizes explained as to what they equate too.

The option has disappeared for me too.
I always used to quickly fill it in as I assumed that in the case of a customer return, eBay used those details to allocate the correct return postage label depending of size and weight of parcel.
With these details not being filled in, how will a return case know whether to allocate a 200g package as a Large Letter or a Small Parcel? Or even a Medium Parcel? (My return cases are set up to automatically accept - depending on value).

So, as a primary service I pick say Royal Mail tracked 48hr. There is nowhere to input size and weight, which might be anything from a 100gm letter to a 20kg parcel.

Hi eastern-lights
It doesn't matter whether you use Simple Delivery or Custom postage. There has been this problem with Global Shipping since Feb 4th. Sellers opting in to Global Shipping cannot see calculated quote to other countries at the moment. Ebay are aware of the problem, but sellers just keep getting the same answer such as " We are aware of the problem which has been passed to our technical team. We will contact on here when fixed "
I messaged a previous buyer in USA and asked them to check my listings. They said it did not show costs. It only stated " Check item description or contact seller for postage options "
Sellers and Ebay are losing out big time. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Yup. That is why I'm puzzled (happy, but definitely puzzled) that I got an order from France to be shipped through GSP.

Yes, From other sellers responses, it looks like it is a bit hit and miss at the moment.
