Weights and Measures

When I go to create a listing an item I now get a choice between Simple Delivery or Custom postage. If I select Simple Delivery I am asked to select a weight / size band from a choice of six. If I select Custom postage though, there is no where to enter weight and dimensions. There always used to be before Simple Delivery came in but it has disappeared now. (I'm using Seller Hub on a computer browser.)

Not really a problem, except I'm signed up for GSP.  How does GSP know how much to charge for shipping? Do they charge the same for a postcard as they do for a 30kg parcel?

It does say "You choose your postal courier, service and price with advanced settings". Where are these advanced settings?

...........

I've just checked some of my existing GSP enabled listings and no price is being quoted for overseas countries, it tells buyers to contact me for a price.

Can we not use GSP if we don't use Simple Delivery?

Another can of worms ...

With GSP you just post to a uk address, the rest is taken care of for you. If you chose small parcel, send it small parcel to the address (usually Lichfield) given and they will charge the buyer postage for a small parcel from lichfield to France. It works well.

You do it on your listing, they are getting ready for compulsory SD

I've just checked the listings on my selling account - I had no option to add the weight and dimensions, as others have mentioned - I offer Global Shipping so looked at one of my records on ebay US and it shows shipping costs. I have no idea how it's being worked out but it looks about right ($18) based on weight and size of the item.

Been a fun week so far - Started shifting my Vinyl Record collection at the start of the year and within the last week have had to provide my NI number, got my final reminder that I'm selling bladed items today (vinyl records only) and now don't seem to have the option of telling ebay how much my packages weigh 😉

I'd much rather continue using the custom shipping option as I'd prefer the money goes in to my local Post Office tills rather than direct to Royal Mail, so I'll carry on doing it that way until my hand is forced 🙂

That is a picture of when you have Simple Delivery selected. If you select custom delivery you do not get anywhere to indicate ANY form of weight or size.

Ah, you have postal policies ... I must look at that.

Yes, I agree, Global Shipping  works well when it is working!!  but it is not.  It does NOT  show calculated cost to other countries at the moment.

@moldosgifts

Yes, that is how it USED to be, that option is no longer there, as you can see in the third screenshot on my  earlier post, which I have added again to this post.

I take it you either a business seller (so no SD choice) or a private seller who hasn't yet had the SD choice on the listing form?

This is what private sellers, selecting Custom (not SD) see now - no weight/size option. That is it, all there is, why would people say it's not there if it is?

... and if you click '+add primary service' you just get a list of service options to choose from, e.g. RM 2nd, RM 48, other courier. Again, nowhere to put in the size and weight.

@ruby*ryan That looks like they are prepping for Simple Delivery

Removing the choices from the seller.

Then how come i have it today on either a listing or an revision of a listing because it is still there.

It has never been there on a postage option the size and weight of the actual item is on the listing beyond that is is just is just a general view of what the item is in term of size and weigh so fall within the letter large letter and parcel categories.

Exactly, what i have been explaining all along. The size and weight are entered within the actual single listing.

At point of creation, then you select which service your going to use.

Possibly:

1.  It is rippling through and you haven't got the change yet?

2.  You are a business accounts and have different options to private sellers?

That was my initial instinct when this thread started and everything they are showing still points the same way.

I'm just not familiar with seller hub so these layouts are new to me. Never used it. I always selected post options manually within the listings. That was on the app.

I have never even as a private seller (yes my wife has a private account) been able to enter my weight and size on the postage page, it has always been done on the listing itself, then on the postage page as in the price you just enter the price for the services you want to offer just make sure that price covers the size and weight you gave,

This is the new format all geared toward when it is no longer optional to use SD,

OK, I'm giving up now. Those of that know it is no longer there, when it was before, know!

Is this how it should look?

I couldn't see this before when I looked.

@zoomingmouse

That is how it used to look, but since they rolled out the postage section with the option of SD or Custom for private sellers, there is no option to put in the size when you click custom (as in my previous screenshots).

Business sellers will see it like yours. Private sellers who don't have the SD option in the postage section yet will see it like yours.

I'm a private seller, & did a dummy listing from scratch last night/early this morning <as screenshot above> on this account, which is my buyer account just to see if it would work.

The only difference was I didn't use the Seller Hub, which I thought may be why I got the measurements option, but checking again just now, it's all changed again & I only seem to get the Simple Delivery option now ☹️

I expect it's changed on my seller account now too.
