Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.
And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.
This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

No-one knows how long the funds from a cancelled sale will take to be released, at least no-one who has posted on here.
The poster you referred to was speculating, not speaking from experience. They have only just refunded.
You have taken it as fact and are now spreading misinformation in your eagerness to bad mouth ebay.

It took 2 days for me.

Thank you for that.

How? How are you paying Ebay staff wages?
Is it from the fees that you no longer have to pay?
(Do I hear "from the interest they make on holding our money"?)
How much of your money is on hold? £20? £50? £100? What? Let's imagine they are holding £100 of your money. Let's imagine you are selling regularly such that as they pay you one lot of £100 they hold on to another £100 so at any time they have £100 of yours. Let's imagine that happens for for a whole year. They have £100 of yours for a year. How much interest do you imagine they make on that? £100 for a year at, what, 5%? That's a fiver. For the year. How many staff do you think they can employ for a fiver a year?

Since these new rules have come in, I have sold 34 items on this account. Eighteen of them are showing as completed, so I could access the funds right now.
Three of the sixteen which are still showing as pending, have not yet been sent, and another eleven were only posted (second class, untracked) on Friday or Saturday.
That only leaves two in pending, which were posted before 11th February. Both had the delivery code entered as a tracking number, but neither is showing as delivered in either eBay or Royal Mail's tracking. I know, from buyers message / feedback, that one of them has been delivered, and I'm fairly confident the other one will have been too (small enough to go through a letterbox).
THAT is my biggest gripe with all of this. Royal Mail's tracking systems are not reliable enough for eBay to use them as a condition of payment. I already knew from experience, before this change, that RM misses scanning about 10% of my items (even if they are tracked), so this can not have come as a surprise to eBay.
Apart from that, I can accept the payment hold as the price to be paid for selling my items on eBay. To me, it is preferable to paying c.13% in fees.
The majority of posters in this overlong thread are now just opening their mouths and letting their stomachs rumble. To mix my metaphors, it's all knee-jerk reactions, with little or no consideration of the real world. If all those who have threatened to leave actually do so, it should help those of us who stick around and face a less crowded marketplace.

Yes this is true but think you have how many sellers on ebay each getting
money held you say 5 pound so if they have 1 million sellers they make 5
million so they have 5 million sellers they make 25 million there is a lot
of sellers on ebay and it's not about the big number but all those little
numbers add up
Now work out how much Ebay would have made if those private sellers were paying 10% fees. Or even 10% less 70% discount. Bit more than a fiver a year each!

And if eBay didn't make money as a business, what would happen?
Would any of us be here?

Given what's been posted about multiple things over the recent weeks, I'm positive someone would somehow manage to find a way to complain about something - whether it would be true or not or even remotely accurate.

Please stop trying to be intelligent and logical! What gets me are the ones who have supposedly left and yet still spend all day on here moaning. When SD comes in and i leave that will be it, will not be wasting my time on here moaning.

I have a list of things to complain about..you want it? Nowt to do with Ebay though lol
From roofers letting me down and not removing the tree growing in a big chimney pot (silly scaffolders have not put it high enough) to me having to renew my Passport (expensive) for proof of identity purposes where nowt else will be accepted 🙂

What nasty comments? Once again you say 'nobody has been paid in 2 days' and i have said that is not a true statement because i have. If you had said you and some others had not been then that would be something else. I can only speak from my own experience. I have never ever said i know everything, i have often come on these boards to ask for advice or info. As for threatening you, that has NEVER happened, a complete untruth. If you actually took the time to read any of my comments you will see that i only ever speak from my own experience. This will be the last comment in response to you but i felt that i needed to make it because of your comment re 'threatening you'

I think most of what you are describing about the ones that say they've left and still post is "blind hope". If eBay change their mind and reverse they will all be happy again.
For me personally, I didn't like the look of the updates so I stopped all my listings before they started. I'm not playing guinea pig for anyone.
& I've been watching and learning stuff here.
I'm glad I stopped selling when I did as my area definitely took a hit in the last few weeks. Any businesses that had sufficient funding could have cleaned up as things were selling far below normal market value.
SD was always my breaking point too but their recent policy rollback does "potentially" address some of my concerns.
But at the same time if a recent thread is anything to go by it looks like the auto system is already making mistakes. Or maybe they are just provisos that eBay hasn't told people about yet.

Sorry, Don't believe this.
I think that poster was 100% right.
This is the sort of rotten thing eBay would do ! - MAKE YOU POORER as a private seller and then MAKE YOU WAIT 14 DAYS FOR YOUR MONEY TO BE RETURNED after they have finished with it.
In the meantime a buyer who changed their mind and backed out of a sale GETS REFUNDED BACK THEIR MONEY IN FULL STRAIGHT FROM THE SELLER'S OWN PERSONAL MONEY, WHETHER THEIR EBAY BALANCE OR THEIR BANK ! - EBAY DOESN'T CARE !
EBAY SHOULD MAKE THE BUYER WAIT UNTIL THEIR ORIGINAL PAYMENT HAS CLEARED AND THEN REFUND THEM STRAIGHT BACK FROM THIS MONEY ONLY. NEVER THE SELLER'S OWN PERSONAL MONEY WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EBAY WHATSOEVER.

I saw that post and looked back through your conversation and saw they were totally wrong about the threatening part. Thought about posting along those lines too but decided it would be better for someone with authority to handle it.

Did you even bother to read the reply that contained personal experience of a refund taking two days to be paid?
You probably did but you would rather go off on one based on what you wanted to be the case.
Shouty caps and red font do not add any weight or credibility to your posts by the way. Most likely the opposite.

Nothing further to say.
This place is now terrible.
