Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.
And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.
This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

I don't know if it has occurred to anyone yet.... but sending 2nd Class untracked one just hands over the bundle at the Post Office or puts them in the pillar box....
If you have to send them tracked (Letter or Large Letter) does this mean that the Post Office has to scan them all? This is going to cause massive queues at sub Post Offices / village Post Offices - I don't think you can put them straight in the pillar box?
The postman doesn't have a scanner, so if they are collected from you at home - are they scanned separately at the sorting depot or not scanned at all???

They can also be used to buy postage labels, and for any refunds.
Not sure.

"Your funds will appear as Pending in the Payments tab in My eBay or Seller Hub. You'll be able to use your pending funds to purchase postage labels and issue refunds to the buyer."
Doesn't mention buying stuff from listings.

The posties have a tablet/phone thingie they take round with them. If you have to sign, it's on that. They use it for photos and barcodes too.
Think it's only the van ones though.

I didn't realise that (never used collection)....
is this going to have an impact of delivery rounds timing if there is a sudden influx of mail to be scanned?
That is also interesting because it is a better utilisation of a seller's time to off-load all the scanning to the postie rather than wait at the Post Office counter while they are doing it - so there may be a lot more collections / scanning if this is the way it goes for small (thin) items.

Perhaps this 'minor problem' could be added to the list of developments/concessions available from the end of February?
Purely in the interests of 'oiling the wheels' of ongoing trade? 😉

No, pending funds are just that, pending, 9awaiting delivery) and even after the delivery has taken place, it takes two or more days to appear in your ebay balance. That is the only time you can use funds from selling on ebay, once they appear in your balance. i should know, I sold two items since 4th of Feb and the money is only available once delivery plus two days has passed. The second, bought on Wednesday, hurriedly posted on Thursday, delivered today, won't be in my ebay balance until next Tuesday at the earliest, and that was something delivered to ebay's GSP, so why do i still have to wait the extra two days when ebay aren't going to complain or lodge a return on it?

Found this in eBay's help pages:
Yes, on eBay UK, you can generally use your pending funds (funds that are currently being processed but not yet fully available) to purchase items, including when a buyer protection fee is applied;
There's that word ' generally' again !

I put tracked in the post box all the time never had an issue.

I'm certain you'll feel all your suggestions in life are helpful. I know people like that, and to the best of my recollection my response has generally been to use words along the lines of they know where they can stick them 🙂
As for ignoring your point about fees, you need to read responses, and one of my earlier replies dealt with this point. Again, rather entitled of you to think these posts start and end on this thread with your comments, but, again, that would be you, wouldn't it. So, for those who can't trouble themselves to read back, pay attention, watch my lips move. As I said, no one thinks this is a charity and that there shouldn't be a cost to selling here. Everyone accepted fees, it was the cost of doing business. No one asked for the changes ebay enforced, it is just them implementing changes to make more money, because lets be honest, if fees were the way to make most cash, they'd still be making those instead. That ebay made a fee charge on postage was disingenuous, but again, that's just them profiteering. As I stated, one alternative is to give sellers the choice, either pay fees and receive payments instantly, as used to happen when Paypal was the way to pay, or opt for a system like now, where people choose to wait for payment and avoid the fees.
Oh, and finally, once again you are wrong, being honest I don't think as things as now is better. On another account with more feedback than yourself I have been on ebay for close to twenty five years, and I've seen how ebay has evolved. It was a place where a seller i know had a problem with their car and had to flog a lot of items for less than usual in a hurry. That wouldn't be an option now as it was then. People I know had a lot of items to sell from an estate they were managing. Back then they kept apace with money they made because they sold it, received payment, could trace it directly to the bank. Now, they'd be waiting to see what was delivered, waiting to see when the payments went through and having to keep withdrawing the cash, all of which makes for a lot of mess from people who had busy lives, a young family and a lot of other stuff to do from having lost a family member. Was any of that ebay's problem, of course not. Should ebay care, well they clearly never have, but when it came to being a place people could straightforwardly sell items, not running a business, that's how it was then. Not any more. But, again, tell yourself what you want to hear, but do annunciate, with your nose where it is what's coming out of your mouth is a tad muffled, but very ebay-centric 🙂

From a retired postman (not me, the internet):
14-02-2025 9:14 PM
Ok, thanks. That's good to know.
Will have to get back into a 'buying' kind of mood but it's a handy option when there are funds waiting there.

Genuine private sellers won't be posting so many parcels that it has an effect on post office queues.
If it is extended to business sellers too, there may be a slight delay. I go to the post office with maybe 15 packages three or four times a week, always tracked, and get them individually scanned (I download my labels from Royal Mail), and I often see the same three or four folk with similar numbers. It doesn't really cause any unbearable delays.
I can envisage delays building up if buyers need the post office to print their labels too (plus obvious problems arising later from people putting the wrong labels on parcels, which is why I do my own labels in the comfort of my own home, without a queue building up behind me.)

I print all my Letter/Large Letter and parcel I can fit in the post box slot labels at home and just put them in the post box, I can't remember the last time I had a INR
14-02-2025 10:08 PM
Mine is only a small post office and is often quite busy, I use drop and go so I don't have to stand in the queue.
14-02-2025 11:41 PM
so what happens if they get the money they are so desperate for and then someone puts in an INAD? Where does the seller get the money from to refund? I cannot remember a time when i posted more than 3 items at once and even that happens rarely, private sellers do not usually have that many sales going on anyway!
14-02-2025 11:52 PM
14-02-2025 11:58 PM
That is not accurate, if they are not showing in funds they can not be used
15-02-2025 12:47 AM
I'm confused about the new payment processing.
I've sent items untracked and either state "Funds Pending - in eBay balance (date 14 days after purchase)" or "Funds Pending - Awaiting Delivery".
For the ones that just say "Awaiting Delivery" I don't understand. Why aren't they showing a date? There is no delivery confirmation because they are untracked items.
15-02-2025 1:59 AM
Well, if the money is released it is the same as it is now as it was before the changes should an INAD be made, so what's your point? If it is that people sell something, spend the cash and then have a problem making a refund/ having a refund enforced, that was precisely the issue before and after the changes. As for selling multiple items, what happens to you is irrelevant, I'm talking about people who list a lot of items at once to auction. If you don't see that happen, I suggest you look, it's out there, so no need for the exclamation marks. I would say, there do seem some people very eager to back ebay up no matter what. I'm saying the system as it is now penalises private sellers, which it does, and that's it. Saying anything else is just noise.
