Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.
And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.
This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

Now it's managed delivery... I wonder how long it will be when eBay copy "Amazon Prime" and we start seeing delivery vans with "eBay Managed Delivery" written on the side !
That's it !!! - eBay take note:-
IF YOU ARE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT MAKING MANAGED DELIVERY/SIMPLE DELIVERY WORK WELL FOR EVERYONE ON EBAY WITHOUT UPSETTING PEOPLE THEN WHY DON'T YOU HIRE OR BUY SOME MEDIUM AND LARGE VANS AND EMPLOY YOUR OWN TRUSTED SCREENED DRIVERS TO COLLECT ALL THE SOLD STUFF DIRECTLY FROM THE HOMES OR WORKPLACES OF SELLERS WHO SELL ON EBAY AND BOOK A PREPAID DELIVERY WITH EBAY MANAGED DELIVERY... EBAY THEN COLLECT THE ITEM FROM THE SELLER, GIVE THEM A RECEIPT FOR IT WITH A CODE FOR THEM TO ENTER INTO EBAY TO PROVE THEY HAVE NOW GIVEN THE ITEM TO ONE OF EBAY'S TRUSTED MANAGED DELIVERY TEAM, THEN EBAY CAN SIMPLY DELIVER IT PROMPTLY OVERNIGHT STRAIGHT TO THE BUYER AND THE BUYER CAN GIVE EBAY A SPECIAL CODE THEY ARE GIVEN DURING THEIR ORDER CONFIRMATION WHICH WILL CONFIRM AND PROVE DELIVERY HAS BEEN MADE SUCCESSFULLY.
If eBay would adopt an "Amazon Prime" style delivery - 100's like me wouldn't need to cease selling on eBay, as the problem would be 100% solved. If Amazon can do it right then why can't eBay do it right too ?

Obviously they know our postcodes. No problem. Do they also know which of us have mobility issues?
They are basically trying to force all domestic private sellers to act as if they are business sellers, It seems that they have been working on this for quite a while now... ever since they introduced their new seller hub with all sorts of bar graphs and double Dutch stuff like "impressions" and other complicated stuff where you would need a degree in business studies and accounting to figure out what they all mean !
For the average domestic seller, all this stuff that eBay are pushing on to them is way beyond what they can understand or be expected to know...
Now it's managed payments and forced returns on private items, thus, making every private seller act like they are a professional business seller with a shop !

It's now like the domestic private sellers on eBay are all masked under one big umbrella with a business-like model which they now have to live up to...
Normally, when I want something, ebay used to be the first place I looked. Yesterday I wanted 3 items. Did I come to ebay? No, I went to Amazon and got what I wanted, it'll be delivered within a reasonable time and delivery will be free since the total exceeded £35.
Of course I have no idea if my behaviour is representative, but if it is, then these changes, p*ing off private sellers (who are usually also buyers) will certainly impact businesses. Doesn't matter to ebay, they'll just hike business sellers fees yet further.
Maybe business sellers need to stop chuckling, watching private sellers' discomfort, and think about what will eventually happen to them?

Enjoyed that one, thanks.
"eBay Managed Delivery" would have to be in fairly small print. Or use lorries - they're bigger and longer 🙂

@johnwash1 'Maybe business sellers need to stop chuckling, watching private sellers' discomfort, and think about what will eventually happen to them?'
I cannot speak for all business sellers although I do know that many of us also have genuine private accounts so we will also be impacted by the new fee when selling our personal items.
I will repeat myself once again on the boards. Business sellers do not have an issue with private sellers ( we also have private accounts). It is the sellers who are abusing the system, and the buyers, who are trading on private accounts which riles us.

100% Spot on John.

And it's those that are abusing private accounts to line their own pockets are the ones that are ruining it for ALL the genuine sellers whether they have a private or a business account.

Im a business seller, and strongly resent ebays actions, which have been purely designed to the companies own interests, with scant regard to the various members on the platform.
The knife that cuts make no difference twixt Private and Business activities, we bleed together as one.

Really think Ebay have underestimated the impact this will have on business accounts too, I've been with Ebay over 20 years, a private seller, I only sell clearout items from my house on and off, I usually use the money I make to then purchase any items I need from Ebay, quite often from businesses, if im not selling (which I won't be) then I also won't be buying, These new rules I believe will result in a greatly reduced footfall, that will impact all sellers, thankfully some business sellers see this too.

For me it is just choice and preference, those postcodes are only the current ones and whether they will continue as exceptions is debateable. However i do note that YO (mine) is in the exception for 'express delivery' so does that mean that it will only be standard (whatever THAT means in regard to courier). Not that i care because my objection is to having E Bay dictate how i send! I go to my local PO and that is it!

I was looking for an item yesterday and went to Amazon first just to check what kind of prices they had, then i went to E Bay! When i eventually managed to get the search to actually find what i wanted and not what they deemed i wanted the couple of options were either Evri OR they were obviously using SD which for the item would have been EVRI again. Not going there so will go to Amazon (who by the way i find do not have a particularly good search engine either.

I think EVRi is the ultimate SALE KILLER !
They are SLOW and UNRELIABLE most of the time, Especially when your regular EVRi delivery driver is away on holiday and you get a fill in driver who couldn't give a bu66er !

if everyone pulled their listings for one week they would have to sit up and take notice. They need sellers to exist no sellers no market.
Simple as that.

Sadly,They've still got their beloved Chinese cheat-sellers to keep them afloat 😞
But no private sellers on eBay = LESS BUYERS on eBay, as some of these private sellers are also buyers too.

the only time we have ever had a delivery from EVRI (and i am not joking here) is when the regular driver IS on holiday! He will not come up our farm track (everyone else does) or a lot of other out of the way places as reported by some of our neighbours! What really gets me is that he lies about it and says no one in, cannot find it etc. Not that we every buy from anyone that sends by EVRI but it is surprising just how many say RM and then send EVRI, their loss because we get refunded and they probably lose their item in the system.

We had a short spell where our original EVRi (MyHermes back then ) delivery driver Dawn left, she was really great and friendly and delivered many items to us for 14 years... then we had another lady who used to keep us waiting all day and then mark the tracking as "Address unobtainable" - what ?? ! - we are on a busy main road ! - no roadworks - all clear ! - She clearly couldn't be bothered to drive to our's to honour the delivery... sometimes a bad review for my local EVRi depot on Google would do the trick, especially with the parcel tracking number so her boss can see what she's been upto !
Then we had a couple of fellas who would just leave parcels on the door step and not even ring the door bell - The only thing the told me I had a delivery was an email from eBay saying "Your item has arrived" and when I opened the front door to see where it is, it was right in the middle of the doorstep where anyone could have taken it if I didn't have CCTV.
Their service is unreliable/shoddy and they seem to have a problem with any item that's large or over 3 kg...

I am wondering about the change from 3rd to 4th and how this will affect a sale made tomorrow. Usually it would clear by the 4th. But will ebay start holding money from sales that happened on the 3rd until item is delivered?

The end is neigh. Having had a good long think.
Personally what irks me the most about the upcoming changes.
Stems from the fact that up until 2024. I was still establishing myself as a private seller.
I started buying off eBay around 2020 and by late 2020 coming into 2021. I decided to sell things since I had some unwanted items knocking around.
It was very difficult at the start and a lot of hurdles to overcome. I fell into the deep end for sure despite having done my research, in practice it was a lot different. But I overcame my initial problems and began to iron out the kinks thanks to feedback of all kinds.
What worked I kept doing and what did not work was scrapped.
So that by I’d say 2023. I had established myself fairly well. I was a lot more confident and had a good understanding of what I was doing and why. I sell my preloved items and give them a new home while making a little money. Perfect that was who I decided to be and I had my routine in place. I had a method that was successful, yet in between all this there has been changes left right and centre that caused many a headache. But despite that I had been doing alright and by late 2024 felt comfortable to start going global. But then eBay had to drop a bomb shell that threatens to uproot everything I’ve worked so hard for over the past few years. Yeah there have been many a change before now, yet I was always able to accommodate it into my selling routine.
I don’t know where I stand now. Do I go on or do I leave?
I don’t want to go because of how hard I’ve worked at fine tuning and establishing myself as a private seller.
I am hoping that it’ll all blow over and be fine. But I just have such a bad feeling.
There is a storm brewing and we all best be prepared for when it strikes.
I've weathered the other eBay storms and survived but I’m starting to doubt I’ll survive the next eBay tempest.
Tonight I’m setting up time away and getting my stuff in order to ready myself as best as possible.
I will still be around and selling things for as long as I can, but the roof has caved in and the bubble has burst and with it has gone the fun and enthusiastic drive in regards to being a private seller.
C’est n’est qu’un au revoir 👋

I wonder how many sellers will leave eBay because this, watch this space.

Some. But not nearly as many as threaten to.
