Sold: Simple delivery, fees for item over 61cm max .

ebay have me in a headlock. : (

I sold a very big item.  I can't access the postage money. I am locked out of those funds by ebay

ebay say to take it to the post office as they will still take it even though it is over 61cm and not to worry .

i said i am concerned about the additional cost

The agent will not acknowledge this potential cost, and I am not asked for the dimensions and weight from the agent.

ebay agent instead says to the affect, that I do not have to pay for any cost at the post office as the maximum dimensions allowed under simple delivery are now 120cm in length. if the parcel is  refused I can ( carry the heavy box home again) get back to ebay with the post office address and then ebay will send a new label with updated dimensions and weight.

And so, still no mention that I will be charged an undisclosed amount for being over 61cm.   And to just print an inadequate label and just send it!!

I had to remind the agent,   that although I will not be charged >at the Post office<  I will be charge later on through my ebay account!!

And I quoted ebay website help pages, that  say I will be charged if over the max limits. undisclosed amounts!

I am not told this is true.  but that if the parcel is rejected then I can walk home with the massive parcel and then ebay will give me a new label.

But the post office will not reject it, as it is under 120cm. I will instead be fined later on, in a few days.

I am told Simple Delivery is now the standard for eligible listings and that opting out is not allowed

But how is my 75cm item eligible? I had no option in the listing to say it was 75cm. I had to agree to the largest size and weight, then I knew I would need to pay more later on, I was o.k with this, as long as I knew I could control my options before i sent the item.

I ask for a postage refund.  ebay say that the buyer would get the refund maybe 40 days later.

I did not expect my postage funds to be taken away from my control and then only be refunded to the buyer.

I need the postage funds, not the buyer.

I ask for opt out.  ebay say I am not allowed.

I was told to contact the buyer and to send them a paypal invoice for another label.

i am sure the buyer will not  be happy with this. I could also say goodbye to 100% feedback. even though I am doing my very best for the buyer.

I also reminded the agent that I am not allow to share details in the messages!! How can i do this? The agent is telling me to contact the buyer outside messages.

I am told to use a mobile text service,  but that means I am going outside ebay, I want it all on record to show ebay I am not also going to try and deal outside. and that the buyer agrees to these stupid  terms that means in the next 40 days he will need to send me postal money through paypal.

agent says they auto logged a complaint for me , I was not asked and no reference number given.

How the hell do i explain all this to the buyer??!

thanks for reading.

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

Cancel/refund transaction with buyer's agreement via the dropdown menu for the item on your orders list, and then relist using the opt-out solution so you can choose your own postage - here:

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

Thank you but I worry, as the price is high.

it is unfair to the buyer to pay again.

he/she may not have funds to buy and wait for a refund.

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

The alternative is to buy and pay for the postage yourself.    If you do that change the tracking on ebay.   The cost of the unused label will be refunded to the buyer, if they paid for it.

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

OMG

I cannot get the buyers address.

"The full destination address will appear on your prepaid label."

If I take this item and send it via simple delivery,

how can I calculate the additional cost?  is there a calculator?

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

You can generate the SD label to get the buyer's address and still cancel it afterwards if you paid for it.   If the buyer paid for it it will be refunded to them automatically.

If you use SD you'd be using whatever label ebay supply.   You can't pay for any extra.

Re: Simple delivery, cannot send item over 61cm max .

They did not give me the option of 70cm length when I listed.

Now I either annoy the buyer with a refund and relist or I am to be fined an undisclosed amount

An amount i am not able to calculate.

I canot even add a tracking number,  if decide to use another courier.

And if I do use another courier, the postage funds go to the buyer.

I may not be paid for weeks as there is no tracking input box anymore.

Simple? and free to list?  = no
