Simple delivery is awful

I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

The postage has automatically reduced on the listing, and it now says 2 weeks delivery despite it being 1-3 days, that will help it sell for sure..Seriously what have they done?!?!?

Sorry if I missed an earlier message - which item are you referring to?

Totally agree, too complicated even to understand, I find it much easier taking a parcel to post office & paying the correct amount for size, weight & what type of delivery you require, so much easier, I have been buying & selling on Ebay for over 15 yrs now but feel like packing it in!!!

Was just about to come on here to say AAAH, Simple Delivery is an absolute pain! I just had to relist loads, I then changed them to all to my postage rates, which is actually sometimes cheaper, or free, and then it suddenly defaulted to one I can't use because I don't have the courier near me, I've now got to travel to another town to get it sorted. Ridiculous.

It is rubbish

its soooooo unprofessional

aren’t they embarrased

??
seems they take no pride in their work

how a huge company can launch a botched system seemingly with such a blase attitude is beyond me

why do they not employ professionals

because they can’t be , unless I’m missing something

Agreed! Absolutely awful.

I’m now going to have to cover the cost of unnecessary expensive tracking postage plus that 💩 buyer protection scam that’s not needed for very low value items. They’ve absolutely ruined this platform. If something has gone missing in the post before I’ve been more the happy with just refunding or sending another because it’s not much of a loss.

I’ve stopped listing now, see if this *bleep* is reversed at some point in the future.

I agree with majority here. Now look at it from a Buyers perspective. The same delivery gut is a Ninja.

If you dont keep eye out for him or keep checking outside your door - the parcels are dumped outside door.

No KNOCK .. he photos items then scarpers off ALL THE TIME.

Now imagine sitting in a wheel chair tripple amputee no legs. Reaching down to floor bad enough but when all dumped below house doorstep  at front door its a nighmare.

So while you all right . about system just for once now you know ,   have empathy for some of your buyers

who also cover a lot of costs.

Thank you

EBay "updated??!!" (forced simple delivery) onto an already active listing of mine to change from Parcelforce to EVRI.  The item measures 75cm long, so Royal Mail won't touch it, so I'm now forced to send it with EVRI, which isn't going to happen, wouldn't trust EVRI to open a packet of crisps!    Spoke to customer service who pretty much said Private Sellers have zero choice going forwards, you like it or you don't use eBay.     BYE!

I've had to change all my re-lists to 'free delivery'. i'm selling my old record collection off and ebay insists that RM charge £3.38!!!  it's actually £4.05 without any packaging costs added

Not sure I understand fully but if you are using Simple Delivery it's irrelevant what RM normally charge. Ebay and RM have agreed a volume contract. £3.38 is what you or the buyer is paying to ebay, not to RM. You just use the label provided by ebay.

I think many people don't get that.

I always check the eBay 'recommended' option for postage. If the item is smaller/lighter I change it, if it's larger heaver, I don't! My buyers have had some good postage prices recently - even the one eBay combined this morning was slightly under actual cost.

The dimensions that it uses are wrong. I had a 3 meter long skirting board for collection only. Simple delivery was automatically added to my listing without my consent or knowledge and chose Evri. No courier takes a 3 meter long item. So the whole thing fell apart and I delivered it myself which was 90 minutes away in the car because I didn't want to let the buyer down. She was very grateful. I have not been paid for the cost of travel. I am out of pocket

"because I didn't want to let the buyer down. She was very grateful. I have not been paid for the cost of travel. I am out of pocket"

Indeed. I would've just cancelled it explaining "Simple delivery was automatically added to my listing without my consent or knowledge"

Send them Tracked 48 by Royal Mail and it’s only £3.45 through eBay and Royal Mail will collect from your house too !! It’s a great service.

£4.05 is the over the counter price for Royal Mail Tracked 48 Small Parcel Upto 2Kg (£3.45 if bought online).  EBay’s Simple Delivery uses exactly the same service, if you opt out of Evri, but for only £3.38.  All you need to do is either print the label that eBay will supply or take the QR code, that you will also receive from eBay, to the Post Office so that they can print the label for you.

Exactly so!! I now no longer buy on ebay which was something I've been doing for well over 10 years I am not about to be 'stitched up' with extra costs etc., and now I am no longer posting items for sale on this site once the few items I have listed are gone ..I'm gone!

Simple delivery pros

- you don’t have to bother buying a label and all it entails , saves a bit of time

- some rates are cheaper others a lot cheaper

- if lost or damaged eBay do the legwork for compensation (non compensation  items is another matter)

- any others?

Simple delivery cons

- hugely overpriced postage due to ebays needing everything to be tracked in particular large letter low weight items

- system is not functional as it is advertised e.g. most  exemptions from simple delivery are not facilitated when listing so you are charged 2.70 to send a 1g stamp! For what? NOTHING logical

- simple administrative corrections are just kicked into the long grass eg no weights for 2-5 kgs or 2-10kg parcels instead you are forced to chose 15kg

- too many to list so leave it there

It's SIMPLY pathetic. I am not being told how I can post my items (I always use RM 48hr Tracked with Collection), I can't now select collection at time of generating label but after generation have to go to RM Website and use tracking number to request a collection. What a waste of my time; SO I'M LETTING MY CURRENT LISTINGS COMPLETE THEN I'M OUT. BYE SIMPLE EBAY XX.
