Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

It may be because valuables - watches are on the prohibited by SD list.

As a private seller selling surplus GB postage stamps am I right in thinking that selling stamps on e-bay are exempt from the simple delivery service. All my orders are presently sent through the post office and mainly consist of normal letter size using my stock (hundreds) of postage stamps acquired from the post office.
Thank you Jim

Yes, that is correct, stamps are exempt from SD. Not sure the Penny Black would be ?? 🙄
Under £10 and under 100g = Custom Postage.

Stamps which are still valid for postage are prohibited, rather then exempt.
e.g. your 396829715237

Thanks for the link.
What new madness is this? If current stamps (e.g. 1st class, 2nd class, large letter) are 'prohibited' from SD then why have my listings been stealthily brought into this?
They are certainly not prohibited by Royal Mail, the carrier I use.
So is a buyer now expected to arrange collection each time? Ebay's restrictive T&Cs are getting even more impossible.
First Ebay was determined to phase them out, now it is stopping users from selling them on? ☹️

See my comment on how to list/post gold from May.
Since then, other members have reported you can update the SD tracking number with your own, as long as i.e. the SD label has been generated.
I would suggest listing only a few items on that basis at the beginning and possibility at any one time (e.g. when awaiting other payments) in case ebay put in further restrictions etc.

Thanks for that. I have only the 2 stamps lots but one of them is at Ebay's 'special' rate for large letters worth over £100. That's nearly 30% more than the current £2.70 Royal Mail Tracked 48 rate. All for a significantly reduced service, meaning no cover at all. As if SD was some kind of 'improvement'?
I'll update to seller pays postage but definitely NOT at Ebay's Reduced Standards rate.
It does feel almost like blackmail. You MUST use our compulsory postage service with absolutely no means of opting out AND your item are not even covered when you do. This conveniently lazy arrangement needs to be properly tested in court. Preferably with someone else being the guinea pig.
