Yesterday's update from Eve Williams, General Manager, eBay UK says
"Items which can still use untracked service: There are a few categories of items where we’ll still permit untracked services if that’s your preference. This includes letter-sized items that meet both of the following criteria: they weigh up to 100 grams and are priced at a maximum of £10, excluding buyer fees."
Despite requests from myself and other ebay sellers the 'Letter size" is still not shown.
Is this going to be restricted to standard letters or will it include 'Large' letter size?

Ideally anything under 250g AND a letter (or large letter) AND with a value up to £10 (maybe even £20) *should* be exempt.
NO buyers have ever expected tracking and "protection" for a £4 CD/DVD/postcard.
A clear option to choose this when listing (and for bulk changes) would be ideal.
Unfortunately, unless it's confirmed by Ebay, everything else seems to be speculation or wishful thinking.

If this is going to be genuinely for letter size only for under 100g items, then I have to pull 100s of CDs/DVDs.
They are under 100g, but LL.
I'll just charity shop them instead.

Okay, post something where eBay have said that and not people playing guessing games.
Sorry, but it is definitely letters only.
Up to 0.5cm thickness.

For items eligible for eBay's Simple Delivery, a "letter-sized" item, in the context of being able to opt out of Simple Delivery, means items weighing 100 grams or less and priced at £10 or less, excluding buyer fees.
That includes large letters.

Thank you Vy. The reason they will be excluded will be that Royal Mail do not offer a tracked 24/48 hour service on these two letter sizes.

Where does it say that 'letter sized' items includes large letter size items?

It doesn't need to, people need to engage brain. The clue's in the word 'letter sized'. I can't see any seller managing to create anything grand out of a 100g item.

When you create a listing, Ebay does not differentiate between letters and large letters.
I have listed and relisted several items today and for most Simple Delivery is the only option.
However, relisting a small brooch costing under £5, I was still able to use my own postage option and cost.

Then why is the current Simple Delivery prices still showing £2.70 for items up to 2.5 cm when listing?
It is still showing £2.70 even for letters up to 0.5 under 100g when listing an item.
Where are these exclusions while listing? They are not available!
Shouldn't eBay be sorting this rather than this confusion!
I still think it will be letter size only not LL.

Sorry, but maybe ive misunderstood something - When you create an item for auction starting at £2.00, then you can avoid Simple Postage ? As it could well end up below the threshold.
Obviously a potential Buyer / Bidder should be able to assess the potential postage option before bidding which the Seller shows in the listing that they are responsible for?

I think I'll be on "time away" until I can see this exemption working in practice for both letters and large letters.
Otherwise, every CD I sell that's £2.99 with free postage will get a £2.70 deduction for "Simple Delivery", unless i hike prices. I'd be as well using them as Frisbees.

@edwardian-dreams apologies yes you can via click and drop, not over a po counter ( you have to fudge system to do it eg put weigh at 101gms)

I do understand your point.
I don't know how this would work practically.
Items under £10 and under 100g are exempt from Simple Delivery.
So, if I list a brooch for £4, the postage cost will show as £2.05 - Large Letter with a stamp on.
I don't know what would happen if I got a couple of keen of bidders and the price (without BPF) went over £10.
The Simple Delivery Price would obviously be over £2.05. For me, it is a 'wait and see' situation. I have opted only to use Royal Mail so the buyer would get a RM service whatever else happened.

Id imagine hiking prices will price you out of selling CD's kinda things ?
Maybe have a look for alternative locations, whilst you are on 'time away' - no point in being a charity to feed ebay.
