I just sold an item, with me paying for postage, and the seller chose Royal Mail as the delivery service - great. However the only RM service available for me to buy was “Royal Mail Tracked 48 | drop off” (ie QR code) and it said booking a collection was not available. I had to select Evri to get a collection at more expense.
I’ve had the same problem with Vinted: when the platform selects the Royal Mail 48 option and supplies the details, it uses the QR code/dropoff method. This can’t be combined with collection, because you’re only supplied with a QR code, not a full label, and the postie can’t print out a label on his/her round - that can only be done at certain designated Post Offices. In my case, the only available dropoff points are miles away so it’s useless.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening and ensuring a collection is possible rather than the extremely inconvenient QR+dropoff method?

I also live remotely and have used this service which is fast and efficient for years, I also after 20 years will be saying Goodbye!!!

Yes I read this too, thank you. However I have also read on other forums that in reality it doesn’t work as it doesn’t provide a tracking number.
I would really like to hear from someone who has successfully organised a RM collection from home using a QR code whether it was successful and is it easy to arrange? Thank you anyway. Hope

I did a collect from home with an Ebay label. I have a personal click and collect RM account and arranged the collection on that using "collect on label already purchased" it worked fine they collected along with the others i had bought direct.
But at present you need a printer it's not yet connected to postman brings a label

I know it’s absolutely ludicrous at the moment so I’m trying to list something and it wants me to do their postage not print a label and drop the item off and I wouldn’t use anything other than Royal mail because the rest are absolute rubbish service. I lost a load of money last year using anyone that Royal mail I don’t know what route eBay is going down but now I can’t even sell eggs under the live animal seclusion and an egg is not a alive animal even in a court of law I’m gonna stop buying also on here

I opted out and changed my settings and now all that comes up is Royal mail not able to print my own postage label and it wants to send it cheap not tracked and I have to now drop the item off. I don’t know Where eBay is headed with this that is rubbish I’ll start buying elsewhere and sell elsewhere

The Royal Mail phone app specifically allows you to scan the QR code to arrange a collection.

I am unable to trust Simple Delivery until they get the glitches sorted out. Off topic although me as a private seller seems to get a discount, I do not see that passed onto the buyer.
Slightly back on topic. Using old ("advanced") delivery, I have an option to use Royal Mail collection but it is listed at the same prices as drop-off. Therefore, I am forced to use drop-off then arrange my own collection, which adds to the admin when sending and keeping track of costs.

I had the same problem with Vinted. I wanted to post by Royal Mail so I could have it collected but it sent me a QR code (the only option) and I had to drive to my nearest PO with my phone so they could print me a label. I tried everything but couldn't arrange a collection. So I wouldn't risk it with ebay and have nothing listed until this is sorted out.

I am having the same problem I found that the older website is letting you use the collection service I have to manually enter details which is time consuming pop in search engine good luck
