Just want sellers to be careful. I sold an item (under £10) using simple delivery. The buyer used RM tracked. RM attempted to deliver, but no one was home. The buyer should have then collected the parcel from the Post Office, but failed to do so, and the RM returned it to me. Meanwhile, the buyer contacted me to inform me that the parcel had been returned and requested that I resend it, claiming that it had been lost in RM's system. eBay responded as simple delivery had been used. The next day I received the parcel. Because it was then recorded as delivered in eBay's system, they took no further action. I messaged the buyer to tell them that to resend, they would have to pay the postage, or I could simply refund them and relist the item and they could buy again if they still wanted to. The buyer's response was a request for my bank details to send me the postage money directly. I simply refunded their money. It might have been innocent, but it didn't sound right to me. I have not heard anything else from the buyer, which also seems to me to confirm that they were just trying to get my bank details all along. Please be careful, when you are a nice person wanting to help a buyer to get their item it is easy to be taken in. Fortunately I wasn't taken in.

It could well have been innocent. Think about the days of cheques, you gave people your bank details all the time.

If you asked them to pay for the postage to resend it and they agreed, that would be the only way for them to pay you, or through Paypal.
Once a sale has been made, you are allowed to give your details to the buyer for them to pay you. It is the same process ( at the moment) if you refund a buyer for an item note received and then they receive it a few days later and offer to pay you.
If you are uncomfortable with this, then you have the option to refund them and relist it.

Bank details for payment are only your account number and sort code, people use this method all the time to send money and there are no security concerns around it..
