Option to send invoices disappeared

Option on sold listings to ‘send payment details’ has disappeared and I’m unable to send people invoices for combined orders like I normally do. I did a live chat with customer service, but I don’t really think they knew what I was talking about.

I have buyers waiting to pay, but are reluctant to pay for the entire postage cost in one go and have me refund due to the amount of money they would have in limbo. 

anybody else having the same problem? Anyone at eBay able to confirm it’s being looked into so I can tell my buyers?

There was another post earlier about the same thing but I don't think anyone from eBay replied yet.

The problem seems to be BPF related if you are a private seller. eBay charge a fee for each item, but you cannot refund that, as it's theirs.

Also with their new terms and conditions if you cancel the orders and relist together you could fall foul of their new "any attempt to circumvent BPF fees could result in sanctions" policy. I'm paraphrasing there but that's basically what it means.

In truth it really needs someone from eBay to come out and give a definitive response to this.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply, you seem far more knowledgeable than the customer service team. 

It makes sense to a point with the BPF being the culprit and explains why I’ve had no problems up until now (since 2008 I might add). 

I’ve messaged all my buyers, but understandably the chap that bought 15 items doesn’t want to send an extra £50 in postage for me to refund, so looks like I’ll lose those sales. Starting to wish I’d listed with free postage to simplify things. I’ll do that and have to lose out I suppose.

Free postage actually makes it more expensive for the buyer. If you include it in your charges of course. 

There are a few threads here that explain the algorithm. Right now it seems like charging more for postage is the best way forward.

I'd suggest having a read of some of the BPF threads.

Also, in case you haven't run into it yet, Offers are now a nightmare.

If you agree via message with a buyer for £10 you will both find out it's impossible afterwards.

If seller sends that to buyer, the buyer pays more. If the buyer sends it to seller, the seller gets less.

I see what you mean, I’ll just have to start listing elsewhere until eBay sort themselves out.

Nobody human will reply because they all know nothing. I am more convinced every day that a giant bot runs the whole thing. They want to make more money? Remove the people who constantly pass the buck, what are they costing

Me too today has been a disaster 7 auctions being watched none bid on which is just as well as was probably the same person who would have asked to cancel anyway when they realised that i could not combine postage as i always have 😐

I'm not saying you can't. What I'm saying is considering the wording in their new terms and conditions it may be wise not to, until eBay comes out and categorically says whether it's allowed or not.

If it's not and you do it, they left their options fully open for reprisals.

If it is, all we need is for someone from eBay with authority to put that in black and white where everyone can see it.

This is the same problem I’m having, luckily I have had mostly repeat buyers who know I’m trustworthy, but get the sense from some of the replies I’ve had from new buyers they think I’m trying to scam them. 

Hopefully they sort this out, but I don’t hold much hope.

Hopefully they come out with a new invoice where it only lets you change the postage with no other changes or something, but even that is open to abuse I guess. I don’t know what other solutions they might have I’m just thinking out loud at this point haha. 

Getting some sort of response on what’s happening might be good, but unlikely I suppose.

I have people buy multiple items without even asking for combined then i refund anyway, they owe me loads taken from my available balance not pending as they promised. Am absolutely tired of it all now, was goign to carry on until SD forced on us but if we can no longer invoice people who ask then i had just as well give up now tbh

A Mentor might be able to call them into this. Not sure what the protocol for that is here.

I’m exactly the same, some sort of solution is needed, I’ve spent twice the amount of time tonight messaging people and processing refunds that I really can’t be bothered with the effort. Initially an easy way to shift my personal collection has become a nightmare in the space of a week.

I want to know too. It's a big part of the Warhammer model market. I'm not selling right now but that's purely because I didn't want to be eBay's Guinea Pig.

If I start again then it has to be functional. If it isn't there's no point starting. Might as well just go somewhere else.

Absolutely agree, I’ve left the hot wheels community and wanted to sell my collection off (unfortunately at a loss as I bought in the height of popularity), it’s gone great and I’m nearly there, but will just look at alternatives now for what’s left.

The beauty of invoicing was encouraging people to buy more than one item and hot wheels collectors always buy more than one (I know from personal experience haha).

You have only ever been able to alter the postage when sending a combined invoice plus the Buyer Protection Fee is not affected by the postage so just needs to be added to the invoice somehow.

Not on the ones I send, you can discount the items by an amount or percentage as well as adjust the postage when combining the orders. Well, I have always been able to at least.

Mentors are also able to speak to Ebay staff on a board that non mentors do not have access to.
