NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Hmmm wonder how much they are being paid to come on here. What's next ?. Maybe saying what a great idea BPF was. Now that would be a joke.

But nothing is clear about how it all works, where is the flexibility of wanting to send an item Special Delivery, as usual, eBays explanation of is really poor so people are just left confused. The previous system worked perfectly so why bother changing it?

Maybe a believer that fixing what wasn't broken is a great idea.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has had any of their listings amended from custom postage to SD by eBay yet? I keep checking mine but nothing yet. If I see it happening to any of my listings that my cue to delist. Before I remove the lot on the 15th, which will be my liberation day from fleecebay/greedbay.

Mine were changed on Friday night. I sold something on Friday at 6.30pm. I was not sent a label and was ‘prompted’ (pushed) to buy one from ebay. I did not, I bought it from Royal Mail as normal.

When I went back at about 10pm to add the tracking number my three remaining listings had been changed to SD. I delisted them.

I’m finished selling and buying unless and until they make SD optional again. That’s not going to happen though so I suppose I’m just finished! I don’t need to sell from my collection at this point and if there’s a special piece I want on ebay nine times out of ten its on Vestiare Collective as well so I’ll be signing up for that. Who knows, it might lead to selling there too though I don’t know much about it.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We are making a change to the way Royal Mail 1st and 2nd Class Letter/Large Letter services are being shown on eBay. From Monday 21st April 2025, the following changes will take place when choosing a service in the delivery details of your listings:

  • The service Royal Mail 1st Class Letter/Large Letter is being changed from a combined service to 2 services: Royal Mail 1st Class Letter and Royal Mail 1st Class Large Letter
  • The service Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter/Large Letter is being changed from a combined service to 2 services: Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter and Royal Mail 2nd Class Large Letter.

There are no changes to the maximum weight, dimensions and delivery times outlined by Royal Mail for 1st Class Letter, 1st Class Large Letter, 2nd Class Letter and 2nd Class Large Letter. Please refer to Royal Mail’s website for more details on 1st class and 2nd class services.

This change was made to provide clarity to buyers on the service their item will be delivered with. Live listings and re-listed items will continue to use the “Letter/Large Letter” service until they are revised, so please ensure you have the correct service selected on your listings to ensure the delivery estimates are accurate for your buyers. This change will not apply when using Simple Delivery.

We hope this update provides you with the necessary information needed to continue operating your eBay business efficiently. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please contact our customer support team for assistance.

Thank you for selling on eBay.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

There was an explanation on another thread about this, which I can't remember off the top of my head, but it was only really relevant to business accounts.

Thank you for your post.

Where are you seeing this?

Am I correct in thinking that it implies that if I re-list the large letter items I took down yesterday they will remain as Royal Mail large letter items unless I change then to SD?

If so that's quite a welcome intervention.

To add - I sold 1 CD this morning that I didn't take down yesterday (as a test) and was allowed to make a label with the cost of Royal Mail £1.55 as I usually would have.

I have already replied here and will also be boycotting selling and buying on ebay on the 15th, and I really hope you all will do the same, even for just a week, it will help prove a point.

Would also like to say simple delivery is not the only reason but is the final nail in the coffin.

Buyer protection aka selling fees which is confusing for buyers and sellers, the ease of fraudulent returns and the lack of any real human customer support with agents only copy pasting replies instead of looking at clear evidence has led to me making my decision to boycott Ebay.

It would be a great small step forward if this backlash has got them to actually make a few positive changes but with changing things every 1-2 days it's still much to early to think of what their final decision will be.

Another reason why I've already removed mine is holding a sellers money for longer along with BPF and now SD all happening in the space of approx 2 months is a bit much to take.

On the right hand side of my ebay page is various updates etc from ebay but I am not sure what it means ,someone said it relates to business sellers but it doesn't say that .All I can do is keep using royal mail and see if my listing gets changed to SD .My partner has been changed on some of his listings to SD but not everything

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If I was selling  collectable 50p's I might think the same as they don't really require that much packaging

I don't have an issue with Simple delivery being an option and for some sellers its not a bad thing  but it for many sellers like myself it makes what I sell and how  I sell very difficult . Only a demented  blind monkey  or an Ebay exec would  not be able to understand why  imposing Simple delivery on private sellers is so unpopular .  🙂

What I would say if 50p's is what you sell  and unless they regularly sell for over £20 then buyer protection will put a surcharge on everything you sell of 10% or more and that will deter your bidders as it is included in the bid  and that will stifle your sales .  Interesting to know how happy you are with Ebay about that. You really would be better selling these elsewhere , I would if that is what I sold !
