AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

You are very right. All of this is such a mess and become so awkward and confusing. It's definitely a change that I hope they really regret.

@dion5feb2016 wrote:Hahahahaha. Exactly, buy an item (dress or otherwise) from a shop and it anything is wrong take it back, get a refund, Trades Description Act etc. You don’t pay an extra amount in case it is wrong and you have to return it!
The price you pay for the item will include an amount towards the cost of providing that protection, so you are paying for it.

Payment protection is an income stream for feeBay as is simpleton delivery.

But all these changes like BPF which I wouldn't and don't need if a seller uses RM 48hr tracked. But with SD becoming compulsory that is what has made a lot of sellers remove their listings.

Good thinking Batman!

It's brilliant. Maybe these posters on YouTube know their views will be noticed by so many more than just us in the forums.

I mentioned Unjust Enrichment earlier in the thread and I’ve been looking into this further. I’m convinced now that ebay may be falling foul of the law against Unjust Enrichment.
The main elements of Unjust Enrichment are:
1. that the defendant receives a benefit, so is enriched;
[yes, because even if they don’t earn interest on it, which would be illegal, they have the use of our money for 14 days to pay salaries etc]
2. that this enrichment is unfair or unjust;
[see below]
3. their enrichment causes a loss to the claimant.
[yes, obviously! we haven’t got the use of it and we haven't been able to gain interest on it]
The other thing I’ve discovered is that whilst companies which unwittingly enrich themselves are dealt with more leniently, we know that this isn’t the case with ebay. We know, and can prove, that Simple Delivery was trumpeted as “an income stream”.
Gosh, it’s getting really difficult to keep up with all ebay’s possible transgressions, talk about a can of worms! Difficult, but not impossible 😀
eBay Commerce UK Ltd is authorised as a payment institution and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), reference number 925354.

Royal mail are putting prices up too probably to make up for the deal they have done with ebay .

Exactly, you don’t pay buyer protection from a shop do you! Some people just don’t get this buyer protection racket

Really hope their practises start getting looked into.

None of us need them, that coupled with the increase in postage for buyers sellers will be hardly seeking anything. It has declined a lot since the BP came in, coupled with the cost of living for us all it is becoming a waste of time even trying, brick wall after brick wall!

@dion5feb2016 wrote:I think you have already answered your last question! Everyone needs to read the terms and conditions of prohibited items, if you send by Evri vis their website your items which are fragile, glass, ceramic etc are NOT covered for loss or damage. How is that going to change by using SD, it is NOT!
Whether or not the items would normally be compensated for by the carrier is completely irrelevant where Simple Delivery is concerned. Royal Mail and Evri will not be providing compensation to eBay for any item, even those that are not on their exemption list.
Ebay are providing their own compensation to buyers/sellers. The only items that they have currently stated are excluded are those that are actually prohibited or restricted by the carrier although I'm sure there will be further exclusions added at some point.

I have appreciated can’t say everyone’s but most of the commentators on here and their support for each other, so nice. It’s good that others You Tube ‘broadcasters’ are putting the word out there too. Never in my 10 years on eBay have I felt so let down, stressed and incensed enough to write so much on a forum.
06-04-2025 7:56 PM
Lol. I think they'll be hiding as many of them as they can if they start being looked into. I'd love them to think their excuse that our changes benefit everyone will be taken seriously.

And have you seen the lists, literally ANYTHING that can possibly be broken!
