AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Now that would not surprise me. They are bound to find out.

"Unfortunately I doubt much comes of all this, I can't see eBay reversing course anytime soon."
If the Competition & Markets Authority find that Simple Delivery leads to unfair competition, ebay won't have any choice in the matter, they will be ordered to reverse course and may be fined. Plenty of people on here have already complained to the CMA about being forced to use ebay's postage. The more people make the case to the CMA about Simple Delivery, the more likely it is that the CMA will investigate.

Great post and we can only hope.

The post office are not royal mail and we have been told by staff in our main post office that they have sent people away with parcels with SD labels ,so obviously no one has cut the Post office in on the deal between Ebay ,Royal mail and Evri ,so the post office are sticking to their own rules so you can't blame them .The PO staff even said people are taking open parcels to the counter so the post office can see what is in the parcel ,but the post office said they won't get involved with that .

Kicks in on 7th for existing listings, they are going to change them!

Goos for them!

Well a couple of posties I talk to think that what is happening here is a joke and posties obviously talk to other posties so maybe things will reach their higher management and actually get them to look into what they have signed up to.

The POST OFFICE LTD as it is known in its current form came into existence in 2001. Ten years later the Postal Services Act 2011 was significant in that it led to the Post Office Ltd becoming independent of the Royal Mail Group as of 1 April 2012.
As a newly formed mutual organisation, independence from Royal Mail enabled the Post Office to make independent strategic decisions. Network modernisation, including extended opening hours and a reduction of the Crown network by moving Crown post offices into shops, is laying the foundations for the Post Office Ltd to evolve further moving forward.

Call me sceptical I guess. I think a weight of public opinion will probably be a greater force, but it largely depends on people refusing to use the platform. Whilst there's a vocal group of us who are doing just that, I just don't think a majority will move away, for example casual buyers buying from business sellers.
We shall see, but I've drawn my line in the sand and for now that's all I can really do.

I agree. But two good points are I'm a casual buyer who sells and with large numbers of sellers not selling I'm hardly buying. Plus casual buyers aren't a target audience for this platform moving forward.

I'm becoming of the opinion that ebay may be falling foul of the Competition and Markets Authority not just in respect of Simple Delivery but also in respect of their current feedback policy. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, ebay is now curating feedback so that unless the buyer drills down, what they are presented with are all positive feedbacks. So year-old positive feedbacks are promoted over recent negative ones. According to the CMA, it is a "Misleading Practice" if a company hides information which consumers need to know (it's called "Misleading Omissions"). Perhaps I should start a separate thread on this.

I hope you are right because giving misleading information is all they seem to have been doing since the changes back in February.

Let me know if you start a new thread, listings coming off but will still be active here and not just to get on their nerves 😁

@fantailsforme wrote:Watching his video, I didn't realise that you now cannot sell abroad without using GSP which of course has to be with SD.
That is misinformation. Items sent overseas are excluded from Simple Delivery so custom postage options can be used. Simple Delivery can be used for the UK leg if sending via GSP.

Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons, what's stopping a Seller in theory listing a £10 item for a price point of, oh I don't know, £750.01 with Best Offer ? You can add RM Special Delivery and additionally RM 2nd class. Then accept a £10 offer. Sure, the Buyer still pays the BPF, but only on the lower price. Just a thought !

In principle a great idea but in theory I was hardly selling as it was since the Feb changes and I don't think any buyer would even remotely even bother thinking a Signed cd was worth that price lol.

There will be workarounds
We’ll just have to see if they “check” when you’re buying postage or doing anything else
You can bypass SD (now and in the future) by using custom for FOUR exempted types of listing
to work around the system you’d have to pretend your item is in one of those to get the custom postage and then go revise your listing and see if you’re left alone after that
one problem with this company seem to have is that managers say one thing and staff say another
You can send fragile items using your own postage one says
the other says you can send them with SD …we KNOW we can send most things with SD so why are you telling us? the actual question not being answered is can we ALSO send them custom
but maybe I’m expecting too much or being pernickity and it will “all be alright in the end”

Very true. I've taken the safe option for now and removed my listings and will watch to see what happens. But the impression they are giving me is that they are making this up as they go along.

I have hardly sold a thing since christmas so not worth carrying on with all the hassel of SD and not having a printer or smart phone ,but now ebay have announced they will be issuing a 6 number code that sellers like me can take to an evri parcel shop and print out a lable that way ,every thing has become so complicated ,I really feel sorry for people who have learning dissabilities too . We have elderly neighbours in their 70s and they are struggling to get their heads around this new system and like me are not Tech minded, but i was fine taking my parcels to PO and they would put the label on the parcel for me ,I always weigh my parcels before going to PO and I know measurements for sizes so I know what postage to charge when I list my item . Now with this new debarcle I have got to double check that what ebay are suggesting for size and weight is correct and my item won't be shown to buyers until I have confirmed the postage is right . Most of the ceramics I sell are small parcel when packed and cost £3.95 tracked 48 at post office i use recycled packaging like good boxes from tesco that they put by for people to use ,or mountain warehouse boxes and mountain warehouse let me have their large sacks of polythene bags that items were wrapped in originally ,they make much better packaging than bubble wrap and i can use as many in a parcel as i want because they have not cost me anything so I don't charge for the cost of packaging on top so what would ebay bots think my Items are .
