AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have looked at the Simple Delivery option but for Large Letter 48hr Tracked doorstep collection up to 1kg in weight including RM bringing the label costs me £3.
I trust RM so much more than ebay and SD.
Plus if someone tried to scam me I would have a good level of control if dealing with RM directly.
Also, I don't want to keep checking my listings to make sure they've not been fiddled with.
I'd rather be able to apply to opt out of SD and pay Sellers Fees because of lack of trust here anymore.

Last month, I had one item sell & changed to SD, & sent it successfully. Another (also listed with Custom Delivery) sold with SD, so off I went to the same shop - "Our Evri things nor working. Post Office do it." I was going there anyway, with my 3 stamped packages - They said "No, we don't do Evri, as they demand we must be open till 6 on a Saturday." Fair enough, don't blame you, many of us just want to send using stamps. Ebay are forcing this on us", sez I. So my 3 stamped ones went off hither and yon, & the Evri one is back here with me. My poor old knees will not take another trip out till tomorrow, when I'll head in the opposite direction in the hope of getting the Evri one off my hands.
Meanwhile, I guess because I had accepted the QR thingy, the Evri one is marked on ebay as dispatched, which it AIN'T!!

I have just discovered that whenever I try to list an item, in any of the categories that I have selected in Collectibles, even when copying an existing listing, I am now automatically included in 'boost your item' at a cost of 35p. Is this the latest scum bag trick to extract money from private sellers? I was ok until an hour ago, now it boosts every listing I try to make, with no option to opt-out.

Perhaps it's another of those things that ebay has automatically enrolled you into. You might have to un-enroll yourself in your preferences to get rid of it ???

Well it has only just happened as I was listing without charge and without boosting until about an hour ago

It's my fault! I have just contacted eBay and it appears that I have reached my limit for 300 free listings which I don't normally get anywhere near. The 35p listing fee doesn't actually say why the fee is there, and I'd wrongly assumed that because my item was illustrated in the boost section just above (even though not switched on) the fee was for that. So I must take back my criticism in my earlier post.

Oh they do like putting users into things without any notification beforehand.
I was enlisted into the Global Shipping programme this year even though I stopped selling things abroad last year, and I've not listed anything since the end of March this year.
I don't like sneaky things like that.

Doesn't only having 300 free listings contradict the "it's free to sell" because I've not seen that mentioned on any of the adverts.
Another thing to add to the reason why I'm not selling, with Simple Delivery being the main reason and a couple of others things.
28-10-2025 5:09 PM
Exactly how long do you want the adverts to be?
28-10-2025 5:16 PM
Long enough to state facts.
But of course actually stating it's only free up to 300 listings would effect saying "it's free to sell".
Like I've previously said, people want transparency, just like knowing Simple Delivery doesn't actually benefit everyone like we were originally told.

T&Cs apply. Fairly common in TV spots I'd say. Exceptions are anything finance related - where terms are often small printed.

But of course they'd have to be exceptions.
There are so many T's & C's now, that to be honest, just shows how far away it is here now from what was a great site for private sellers to sell and buy on, and it was actually fun.
US sellers have still got it good, like it used to be here before the changes this year.
Anyhow, Simple Delivery was the final straw for me after 20 years on here, without even mentioning a few other things that I won't mention because I won't go off topic.

Yes, those photos on the boost part arrived on mine a couple of weeks ago, you have to make sure not to touch anything as you flick past it!
