AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Standardised Tracked Delivery

People seem to have had varying experiences with SD, so I thought I'd have another go, after having sworn never to list any more of my old stuff on this platform. So I listed a vintage camera-case, and got a custom shipping option (besides the SD option) - good - I was able to choose the service I want! Then I listed a vintage lamp-dimmer, and only got the SD option - bad! So I wonder what criteria define the options offered.
But at the end of the day, I suppose eBay gets most income from business sellers, with a million or more feedbacks, and we poor private sellers don't carry a lot of weight when the eBay high-ups decide how to run their business. E-commerce has evolved a long way from the original eBay idea - it's all terribly unfair, so we'll just carry on complaining . . .

I think if Ebay offered sellers LSD many would happily take it.
Less so STD.

What’s the issue with Simple Delivery tho?

'You're also assuming that those apparent 'teething problems' being described by sellers are not actual SD features, like the 3 times hike in letter postage costs or not being able to opt out when it's needed (valuable or signed-for items) or simply having their excess postage costs refunded?'
Yes, many of these 'teething troubles' are at the root of the problem, so it will be a very long time before Simple Delivery baby gets a full set of gnashers... in the meantime, it's just going to carry on using UK private sellers as rusks... 👶
Sadly, new sellers won't have the opportunity to experience the freedom of being able to choose their own postage options etc. I suppose eBay will be banking on the next generation of sellers being more amenable to eBay/AI telling them what to do, and how & when to do it. Spoon-fed Simpletons... 🙄

eBay is dead. I am nearly 60 and eBay is seen as old hat now.

The price for one.
anything under £20 is covered by standard delivery and is easily reclaimed. I’m trying to sell a £2 comic for £4.90 to cover buyer fee and cover unnecessary unwanted expensive tracking, instead of the £3.60 I was listing it before this garbage policy.

They don’t get much funds from this business seller, or my husband. Since the BPF came in, my business sales are in a downward spiral, even on slow summer months Im down £1k+ on my seasonal average and that average is taken over more than 20 summers. Many of my regular buyers are MIA. These are the buyers Ive had for years. Im seeing a few new buyers however.

That is because of the knock on effect of people refusing to sell anymore because of Simple Delivery, I don't sell, and I definitely refuse to buy anything from eBay anymore like so many others, I used to sell stuff, and use the money in my eBay wallet to buy other stuff off eBay, and I don't do that anymore, I can not see how eBay is not seeing this happening, loads of people are refusing to buy or sell on here anymore, people I speak too in the street,. don't have a good word to say about eBay, most people say they don't buy anymore because of Buyer Protection Fee's,and the other say they don't sell because of Simple Delivery, especially where I live, there is always a problem if something is sent by Evri, so people have given up with eBay, and it must be incredibly frustrating if you are a Business Seller, paying for the privilege of having your Listings ignored....!

On Click and Drop it states that standard 2nd class is covered for up to £20. Every time I claim they just send me some stamps that I have no use for.

I don't see what Royal Mail are getting out of this contract:
Roughly half of their customers are now being pushed over to Evri.
Ebay would be getting a big discount from Royal Mail so that will be lost revenue from over the counter Post Office customers paying full price.
The stamp collecting hobby is being destroyed so whats the point of buying first day covers etc., and/or buying stamps that would never be used.
The only benefit I can see for Royal Mail is that it doesn't matter if parcels get lost or dropped with contents broken as it will now be ebay paying the compensation.

RM must be getting quite a few upgrades too? Letters and large letters that would have been posted for 87p or 155p are now all being sent tracked. And it's Ebay via SD pushing these upgrades their way, and presumably sharing the additional revenues too?
That's IF any buyers were tempted to pay well over the odds anyway?

Who has marked this as a solution? Looks like a question to me!!
22-08-2025 4:04 PM
It's not the first time that someone, somewhere has tried marking a post as a solution.
It certainly wasn't done by me.
It's so annoying when a post on a discussion thread that people find useful gets marked as a solution.
Most probably someone with a itchy finger in a position of a bit of power.
22-08-2025 4:17 PM
THIS THREAD SHOULD NOT, AND HAS NOT, HAD A POST THAT SHOULD BE MARKED AS A SOLUTION.
22-08-2025 4:35 PM
I have only been refunded in stamps once, and that was for a couple of pounds. The last time I claimed I was sent a cheque.
22-08-2025 4:36 PM
WILL THE PERSON WITH THE BUTTON HAPPY FINGER WHO MARKED THIS THREAD SAYING A SOLUTION HAS BEEN RECEIVED PLEASE REMOVE THAT TOTALLY FALSE STATEMENT.

How does a post get marked as a solution anyway?
