AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Thanks for the email address for CEO of royal mail I too have now emailed them to complain about this whole fiasco

When Ebay sales fall through the floor they stand to lose more than Ebay , for every £1 Ebay will lose they will lose £2. They could probably stop Simple Delivery by themselves . Ebay's forecasts will be for the period when they dropped selling fees , and I think an 80% drop on that is probably not that far off. RM will know precisely how many SD Ebay sell.

Hopefully it will continue to plunge and eBay will have no choice but to abandon 'Simple Delivery'!!

"Unlike Ebay RM are showing a bit more interest in complaints . CEO emaik emma.gilthorpe@royalmail.com."
Thanks for this suggestion and the link. I've sent her an email. I don't know if it will do any good, but if you don't ask, you don't get. Between Royal Mail, the Competition & Markets Authority and the exodus of private sellers, perhaps ebay will comes to their senses - you never know, stranger things happen at sea!

I don't use simple delivery at all, you can bypass it. Once an item is sold you can go to order details and just use the buyers address to book a delivery via your favourite couriers site. It's that buyer protection that's killing me.

12-04-2025 6:28 PM
That has never happened to me, maybe its down to me selecting a specific delivery service during listing?
12-04-2025 6:34 PM
you have probably been charged for a label because with SD you can't see the buyers address the label is purchased
12-04-2025 6:37 PM
That is probably it but once SD comes into force on the 15th the buyers address will be hidden . I am using the old way at the moment but then am ending everything on 14th before SD kicks in

Piper Sandler analyst Anna Andreeva is causing a stir with suggestions that an eBay and Etsy merger could be an "elegant solution" to growth struggles in a new report musing on the possibility of a compelling combo.Citing Etsy's need for frequency, data, and scale that eBay can provide, as well as eBay's investments in AI, Andreeva says she believes together to companies could reach a buyer base of about 60% the size of Amazon's.On paper, Etsy could be an attractive acquisition for eBay, especially if any potential deal kept Etsy-owned subsidiaries Depop and Reverb included rather than spinning them off separately.

Maybe someone should inform Etsy that eBay's AI ain't all that

Very sadly I think you may be right but I hope not. If enough people hit eBay where it hurts then I think they could reverse their recent changes.

“ Etsy could be an attractive acquisition for eBay”
I don’t think Etsy would NOT EVEN CONSIDERED IT !!

Even if they do what makes them think sellers and buyers would go running back after piling this *bleep* on them? Ebay has shown what it thinks of its private sellers and exactly how much it values them (not a bit), so firstly who wants to stay and line pockets of those who don't value them? Secondly, if they do reverse their dreadful delivery it will only be because someone like the RM force them to, not because they actually care about how sellers feel or give a monkeys that their hated dictatorship system is nigh on impossible for many of us to do. And thirdly, if sellers did decide to forgive and return, how long would it be before ebay screw them over again with a new scheme/idea/fee to get back the money they've lost in the meantime? My guess is about a month until they think it's all forgotten and then you'll get a new nasty dreamt up surprise in your emails.

I’ve been trading with eBay as a private seller since 2000, but all the changes they have made this year ,the buyers protection fee, the simple delivery fiasco and all the teething problems they’ve had with these new changes, I’m totally disappointed with eBay and I’ve decided to stop selling on their site , I’m gradually running down my current listings ,shame on you eBay

Great post. I imagine there are a few folk feeling like that.
