I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes, I've contacted her, which can only do before sold on simple delivery, then eBay take over all contact!! She has messaged back and she is in London, just hasn't changed her account setting. Phew.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You do need to keep a eye on your account because ebay enrolled me onto the Global Shipping Programme without checking with me first.

The crazy thing is that they did it after I ended what items I still had listed, and it was done after I said i will not sell anymore because of Simple Delivery.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

With all the info and control ebay have on it's users now, i don't trust or believe them at all.

I'm just glad I stopped selling because of Simple Delivery, and they only have minimal info because I rarely buy on here now.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I used to find with myself and other sellers , Ebay would tell the buyer who had multiple purchases that I/they  did not combine postage  when I had clearly stated that I would . It was a setting buried somewhere that I never found and I got around it  most of the by asking the buyer  to wait for an invoice

There are so many permutations of setting and  Ebay will specify default setting to their advantage .

Strangely I didn't mind global shipping but there was a  hidden catch , is the seller gets charged an additional  fee , I would be interested to know if that is still the case on "free to sell" Ebay , as if Ebay  are still charging and GSP is the default then that's a  contradictory  hidden selling fee .

I am actually considering selling some things to clear up space but proceeds to going to charity , if can find the motivation 🙂

Yes, the 3% International Fee still applies.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I live in a rural spot with the only neighbours being various members of my family!  Apart from which no one should have their parcels shoved in a dustbin unless it is specifically indicated that that is the delivery location.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Is that 3% of the total including the postage we don't get the money for? I sold an item to California that was £8 and the fee taken from it 35p.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

All eBay state is…

This fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, postage, and any applicable taxes.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Which isn't fair as I only get to set the item price and have no say on the amount for postage and taxes. EBay should be paying any international fees on their postage as they get the postage money, not me.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

@gjalp I'm sorry to hear that. I think how Simple delivery penalises disabled people is one of the biggest flaws. Paying more to select RM only so you can get the item collected is a disgrace and something that eBay has refused to address. It is such a backward step for disabled/ less abled rights and understanding.

I thought it was April the first for a second. This is how SD is showing on my tablet today. I suspect they are toying with us.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I went to edit one of mine. Clicking on custom brought up the simple delivery price of £2.72. Clicking simple delivery put it back to my set postage.

Same, I won't be selling again until custom delivery options are available for private sellers again.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

@gjalp I hear you on the disabled side as I am as well. Unfortunately, 95% of the carriers/couriers charge a fee to collect from door instead of us being able to drop off at whatever location. I do have a car so normally can drive to a drop off point, but the last few weeks my car has been off road needing repairs so have had to opt for the collection instead.

Perhaps RM and other carriers along with eBay can have an option to tick to verify you (me as well) are disabled and can easily be proven somehow without completely compromising your privacy. I do think it needs to happen for so many people especially with all the cuts we as disabled people are facing at the moment.

I wish you well on Simple Delivery though. I switched to a business account to avoid it.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have a business account but I need to keep business and personal separate (easier accounting). That said, Ive been selling a few of my stamps from my personal collection (needs must and all that, heating bill is going to hit hard) and my stamps over £20 are now being pushed to simple delivery (so Ive not listed them). Today a combined order I had for 4 low priced stamps (custom delivery) came to £16 and I wanted to send them tracked due to it being private account and busy season suddenly went from letter being highlighted when I went to purchase a label to small parcel! Small parcel…for 4 stamps. I mean really???? That is absolutely ridiculous. That is how a simple delivery combined order will work if Ive sold stamps on an order over £20. Im not going to bother. I’ll stick to single things I can pop in a box in future.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

On V I have sold single stamps, usually the understanding from everyone is it makes sense to bundle and buy plenty so the postage cost is more palatable. However I have had a fair few buyers who will pay £4/£5 all in for £1 stamp or FDC.

I don’t have to use simple delivery on eBay but I’d take my experiences over there and happily list any value stamp here. It doesn’t always make sense to me but buyers will pay postage costs that we would consider unnecessary if the platform forces that on them as the only option.

The short way of saying this is it’s better to list the items and if the buyer is prepared to pay the tracked postage let them do it. That has to be better than not listing the item at all.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

They won’t pay it on ebay. I sell stamps as a business and have done for over 20 years (been collecting for over 40 years) and some buyers can get really huffy over postage costs as they know it can go as a letter with a stamp on. Stamp buyers also tend to prefer stamps on their envelopes - I trialled labels years ago and got a LOT of complaints. I literally did a ‘you said, we listened’ thing on the postage format and changed it back to stamps.

I won’t sell stamps on v either as it requires a post office visit and I can’t do that (unless v do RM collections) plus I can’t deal with listing on another platform. As it is Im packing orders on 4 ebay ID’s, a website and e**d although the latter is slower. The former are fast paced so I need my 3 day handling time as sometimes I need to take timeout (can’t physically do it or have appointments - next week Im losing the best part of 2 days due to having 2 mri scans so won’t be able to work those days). Simple delivery in general is making my life difficult and I spend more time sorting orders on that ID than 2 of the others together that I sell more on!
