AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Hi travelin-lite (Engager), I'll second that. It would be so simple for
ebay to allow sellers to choose simple or advanced delivery. That way all
the sellers are happy and the buyers get more choice. Ebay's recent
concesión is no good to me and I suspect most sellers as my smallest parcel
is ½Kg.
It would be simple but it would't achieve ebay's commercial objective of making a big profit margin from bulk buying postage and pushing a high proportion of items to Evri/DHL. Ultimately they are not here to help the users they are here to maximize returns to shareholders even if that means persisting with unpopular broken technologies and second rate carriers that upset, inconvenience and give problems to users.

Hi @akemp1 , I have tried to stay positive and to work with everything they have thrown at us. I have been relisting a few of Dad railway things tonight as it was all small, low value, and still on Custom delivery, but not exempt and probably so far down the search ranking that no one would find it. It's still small, low value and not exempt! I found a category to stick it in for exemption, but they have removed the "helpful" list on the help page.
Of the items I had on SD I have or will be able to change about 3 items back to Custom. Some have offers on, can't change them. Clothing, has no exemptions that I could find. Less than £10, less than 120g no change.
It sounded a good announcement in theory, but in reality it is a dud.
I always buy through Packlink, why couldn't Ebay monetise that? Seller pays £1.55, Ebay takes X%, RM takes the rest. I have no problem with Ebay monetizing postage for revenue purposes, but inflating prices to unsellable levels has clearly had an impact which this change will not address.

It's not unreasonable to think that given the amount of parcels ebay can generate that it could've negotiated better terms for buyers and still have made a decent profit. Instead they've gone for a poorly devised system which over charges buyers. Given how the company has pushed sellers for years on postage it smacks of hypocrisy. They introduced the postage tax due to sellers overcharging buyers and now they're doing it themselves.

Despite not listing anything since April when the very unpopular SD came in, I like I'm sure many others who have decided to take the same stance regularly get messages/emails from eBay urging me to "have a clear out" and make some cash. It would seem to me that although some posts probably with good reason seem to think eBay want rid of private sellers the fact that they urge many of us who at this moment are not selling would seem to indicate otherwise, whether it be money from CD's or higher value items I'm pretty sure eBay are happy to take whatever they can get from a sale. If anyone from eBay are regularly reading these threads then do yourself a favour and return to the custom/SD option for sellers and let's get back to doing what we were enjoying doing before this fiasco started.

Not that simple.
After disrupting us time and time again and ignoring us time and time again.
It's now our time to ignore them time and time again while we wind down and list new stuff elsewhere.
THAT'S HOW THAT WORKS!

Here's a typical example of how eBay are fleecing our buyers. I listed two items, lightweight paper but rolled so would have to be sent as a parcel, and using Simple Delivery Tracked 48 eBay offered the price of £3.38 which is actually very slightly cheaper than Royal Mail direct online price of £3.45, so no problem with using SD there. However, a customer bought both items, which could easily have been sent together for the same postage price - £3.38 SD Tracked 48, but instead eBay combined the orders and put the postage up to £4.29 plus 86p VAT making a total of £5.15 - i.e. a medium parcel - and I have no option to change it. So that's what the customer had to pay. It's sharp practice to say the least, and one stop short of theft. And I will look as though I am overcharging on postage.

Your totally correct this simple simon delivery is beyond a total joke. I was selling an item that I would usually charge £4.95 postage for and I would send it Royal Mail tracked 24 ebay charged the buyer £12.50 for a standard tracked service with Royal Mail plus VAT !! I tried to contact the buyer to tell them but they just totally ignored me. This next one is related to ebays new buyer protection fee. I sold an item and I offered free postage and the buyer thought I had charged them postage because they thought the buyer protection fee they paid to ebay was the postage I had charged them !! Its beyond belief that current ebay buyers havent got a clue about simple simon delivery and the buyer extortion fee !!

Perhaps someone should suggest that Ebay put out a survey to all buyers and sellers on their current opinion of so called "Simple Delivery" . I think they would struggle to get more than 10% approval as not only do they make is sellers far more difficult they are now ripping off buyers at the same time .
Ebay have you got the guts !!!

Does anyone know if Ebay have backed down on the price rise outline below
The announcement is no longer visible on featured posts and looking some recent listing I can't see any that quote these postage prices .
Have all potential sellers just selected both Evri and RM or have Ebay realised how deeply wrong this kind of price manipulation is ?

These prices showed on my items before the 1st sept. I managed to block it with the workaround.

I changed all items to collect only.
I just posted the items after sending the buyer a message.
EBay have now turned around and are allowing people to send up to Large letters by ordinary stamped post.

I just tried to sell an item, my first since April, but could still only use Simple Delivery so it seems their recent message saying you could opt out for 100g and less than £20 was bogus. There was no facility for describing the item's weight. I chose large letter but the only option was up to 1kg. A joke of an organisation. I'll stick to selling my comics via a physical auction house. They take away a vanload and do all the work.

Wow! This thread is still going strong. Hadn't checked in for a couple of months I think. I see there are more and more dissatisfied punters.

It seems to be a limited offer for certain categories sadly.
But if you are lucky to have an item in a qualifying category there seems to be no weight limit.
A slap or a kiss - better luck next time in ebay's eternal quest to mislead and irritate.

I took all my listings down earlier in the year, except for one that I left up as a test. Just checked on it for the first time in months and it's been switched over to simple delivery so I've taken that down too!
Member since 2001, apart from suspending sales during holidays I think that's the first time I've had zero listings. It's quite refreshing, I recommend it.
I still check on this thread every week or so in the hope there are signs of sanity at ebay, or for tips on the best alternative. I take it as a positive sign that someone has let it stay up, there may be one or two voices that know how badly they've messed up.
