AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I DID NOT ACCUSE YOU OF WANTING TO ERASE THE THREAD … I REMINDED YOU, THAT YOU MADE THE STATEMENT YOU WANTED eBAY TO CLOSE IT DOWN !!!
YOU ARE ALSO NOW STATING THE THREAD HAS BECOME WORTHLESS.
As mentioned previously and I repeat, you are in the minority (please read other replies in the last hour).

"I'm unsure what the signs will be when I'm converted. Will I be able to know, other than waiting for a sale and finding I can't do postage as normal?"
I’ve got a few items listed that are still with custom postage. Under postage it says "Free delivery in 2-3 days” and there’s no mention of tracking. I presume if it was switched to SD, it would say something about tracked delivery.

Me too I am afraid. Had over 300 private listings all custom postage, noticed whenever I relist , the listing reverts back to simple delivery, so I have to do the listing all over again. How time consuming and just not worth all the extra work. Cannot keep doing this. Ebay obviously hates us sellers.

The thread should at the very least should stay in place until Ebay come true of their promise and implement SD across the board for private sellers
That was supposed to have been April 15th and its now June 8th , and it is still not done. That just goes to re-emphasise the point of this thread in the 1st place . SD is croc of ****. that is no good for anyone and definitely not the cash cow Jamie Iannone has promised his investors .
Given this thread is constantly read by Ebay employed moderators etc It would be wrong to close it until Ebay actually recognise the concerns and annoyance raised .

It's more camaraderie now, all hanging on together on a log when the ship has sunk.

😂camaraderie indeed

Have you ever seen Hitchcocks Lifeboat?

Well I've been reading from the beginning and found a new bit of info from Kath today, that we might know that we've changed to SD when we relist, a blue banner appears to tell you it will be SD. I have been wondering how to tell and it's the first time anyone has said that!

Post 6508, I found a new answer today from Kath.

Yes I have, and I have never read the community threads before.
As has been said, and yes repeated, I have followed this to see others experiences of something that will effectively end my ability to sell (no printer/no smartphone) and try to keep up with a programme roll out that has largely happened in the shadows with its shifting timelines and quiet tweaks; things I would not known/been fully aware of without the knowledge pooled here.
As ebay are still not clearly and openly communicating what is unfolding this makes the thread a continuing important resource for me, as ebay seems to be carrying this 'process' out with either a lack of direction, technical ability or (bizarrely, if true) an active disinformation campaign; if not you fair enough, but no-one is forcing you to read this thread.
Additionally, and most personally helpfully, information and work-arounds posted here have allowed me to re-list and even sell a couple of items when I had pulled all my listings months ago, y'know when all the changes were supposedly happening right away.
I would respectfully suggest if you feel the need for the thread to discontinue and condense itself to some sort of useful list you realy should at least (perhaps with others who think the thread has run its useful course) come up with the such a listing rather just work towards the shutting the thread part of the suggestion, which ironically just adds to its length.
I am not meaning to be rude or start a 'flame-war(?)' here but as someone who has followed this thread for weeks, the posting rate seems to have increased this weekend largely due to posts calling for the thread to be shut (and the responses), which do not realy add new vale/information or advice to the subject.
Finally as repetition is a theme I would just like to re-iterate my point made in my only other post (made back on 10th April) for folks to contact the CMA/Competition and Markets Authority over the SD programme on the grounds that it not only restricts free competition (postal services), but undermines the operation of a free and open market ('special' pricing tariff that is reduced from that which is available on the free market) as well as (just in case) non-compliance/undermining of the equality act (through the removal of the Royal Mail 'bring your label' service in the restrictive practices that ebay is bringing in with SD).
Strength/accountability in numbers, hopefully.

Bit's of it, I'm easily scared in films, I much prefer knowing there is going to be a happy ending! Which I don't think we are going to get here!!

Hey Colin it would appear you are aufait with the workings of this organisation. Can you not draft a letter with the salient points and post it on here. With the address to send it to. Then us mere mortals can just copy it and print it off and post it to the the relevant address I'm sure if they got hundreds of letters from different people they may take a look at it??? Just a thought
08-06-2025 9:38 PM
If Colin did draft a letter for people to copy.... Might be an idea to create a Thread for it, as it might get this one closed down
08-06-2025 10:13 PM
Well said!! Totally agree.

My latest gripe…yay, I got to request a collection on SD. Didn’t see anything about bringing a label or collect from safe place though (I always ask for safe place collection because I can’t get to the door fast enough, same reason I always have deliveries to my safe place too).

Unfortunately I am not versed on these forums or what can or can't be posted or how to start a thread, if anyone can message me on how/where to do it I would give it a go, although I assure you I am no specialist on the Competition and Markets Authority I am just aware they are the supposed be watchdogs/police for.
Otherwise if you message me I would be happy to reply with what I submitted to them, it can all be done online via the gov [dot] uk address and searching for their section/pages, which explains what they do which is where I sort of lined up what they 'oversee' with what ebay was/is introducing.

I'm not surprised that you'd like this thread to be closed down.
This thread shows the strength and discord that PRIVATE sellers have against the draconian measures that this platform has introduced and implemented as policy changes.
As a business seller with a private account if you feel that the thread I created has run its course then why not unsubscribe or create your own threads.
If I wanted this thread to be of great interest to business sellers I would have created it on the business boards.

Thank you for supporting the thread i started.
I know it is still fresh because users are still joining it and posting on it.
I also believe that for a rollout that was initially due to start on the 15th April it is now 9th June and it is still a shambles.
A thread like this deserves to stay open so that users can see how unpopular and see the mess that this platform has created with such draconian measures.

That is a great post.
So much of what you've said is so true and I'm glad some posts on here have been useful to you.
I'm sure most users on this platform especially PRIVATE sellers just wish there was more transparency and better communication from the powers that be regarding such a mess that these changes have created.

Thank you 🙂
