AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I think they will only stop when Jamie Ianone ( Ebay CEO) say they can . This is likely to be his brainchild with the vision of Ebay processing every packet this way globally across al seller. I.E an Ebay branded delivery service where Ebay get a significant cut of every package .
I think all Ebay staff are under pressure not to say anything negative and big up SD as much as they can ,like or not .
For an Ebay delivery service to work you need to offer a collection and delivery service with some branded . If this does take off , which currently is impossible to imagine , I think they could end up buying out a courier company such as Evri and perhaps that is what they should have done 1st

I have just taken my listings off "Time Away" and they all still have the postage (Royal Mail) option that I selected when making the listings. No mention of Simple Delivery anywhere (not that I want it). Is this the case with anyone else or does SD only apply to new listings?

My listings still have the postage option that I selected when I listed them.
Originally ebay said existing listings would change from the 7th April, then mandatory for all new listings from the 15th April.
Neither of these things happened in my experience and I believe they found that the original deadlines were too optimistic and couldn't be met. They now say that simple delivery will be mandatory by the 28th April, which I am totally ignoring and carrying on until something actually changes on my listings.
When ebay take over postage on my listings I will probably take them down as I don't want to be in the position of their AI deciding what postage label is correct and getting it wrong, leaving me with two choices - sent the item anyway with the wrong postage label on it and force the post office to accept it, or pay for another postage label out of the proceeds of the sale, which in certain situations would mean I make a loss.

Right first SD sale listing shown post as £3.44 but go to order details buy pays £2.87 + vat £0.57 = £3.44 so all postage as VAT on it ,i never know that and the big boys can claim it back ! is there a fiddle going on ?

I believe I have seen it posted on here that royal mail tracked postage services include VAT and so that might be why ebay have to show the breakdown. Hopefully someone else may come along who knows more about this and whether what I remember seeing is accurate.

Just looking at the latest Royal Mail tariff and I can’t see £2.87 or £3.44
in the prices quoted for any delivery price??
RON,
I believe the £2.87 is the price without VAT and the £3.44 includes it and seen in the updated version of the simple delivery postage prices. Confusion can occur when at one point the postage price shows £2.87 and another it shows £3.44. Hopefully ebay will make this more consistent to avoid confusion.

Odd why you get a few pennies of for some when specify both , is that deliberate or just yet another SD quirk

There is an increase in price when a seller deselects either royal mail or evri, ebay's explanation was something to do with it limiting the buyers postage choices or something, can't really remember, but it seems to me like a punishment for the private seller who does not allow both royal mail and evri, increasing the postage cost a buyer will pay and making it less likely that they will purchase.

I have just posted a parcel at our local small independent post office and the owner told me she is still getting people going there with SD parcels that are the wrong weight or size for the label ebay have told them to use ,so he has had to send people away with their parcels ,as she is an independent post office she doesn't have to accept these parcels from SD and she also said it is a nightmare because she is losing money through it too . Also first thing this morning when I was sending parcels in our main post office in town again they told me that they have had so many people upset and cross with this SD . This post office is now accepting SD parcels but the kick in the teeth will be when ebay chase sellers for money because the label they used was not correct . This is ebays fault not sellers, people selling on ebay are more professional than ebay .

If your SD listing had buyer pays postage, when the buyer purchased, including the postage label from ebay, maybe ebay put the tracking code of their postage label against the item and marked it as dispatched.
This would be very wrong to me if it has happened because a private seller can specify how many working days they need to dispatch.

That's interesting that some post offices are still rejecting simple delivery packages with the wrong postage label on them. If the sd label is wrong and the private seller let ebay's AI decide on the postage label, apparently ebay will pay the extra from their rm business account, but who knows, they may find a way to wriggle out of it as if the AI is rubbish it's going to cost them a pretty penny.
