AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I think it's more than a glitch. They seem intent on steam rolling ahead with these changes and will only realise what they've done to private sellers, buyers, and small businesses when it's to late.

as i understand it (and i am more than likely wrong because i find it very confusing), the buyer pays for the postage and when you do not use the label they get refunded so the seller is only paying once (out of their own pocket - but they should have included that (in their minds at least) in the price. For example, something that they would normally charge £10 they actually put on at say £14 which allows for the postage, of course that makes the item way more expensive! You then have the buyer expecting it to go through SD when it does not. Also the there would be no record of tracking as you would not be able to do that so anything goes wrong it is at your own risk. Also as far as EVRI go the seller could opt out of them so only RM would be the option.

No idea whats going on with ebay surly they can read all the anger they have caused? I have also realised that using my private account - while funds are released after a week or so of items being delivered, if someone buys an item and then cancels they take the funds to refund the new buyer from my released funds? so I then have to wait a further week or so. WHAT A JOKE EBAY COME ON

Just type ebid into your browser search box. Read all the selling options if you decide to have a go there. Don't just jump in the deep end and pay the up-front fee.
The whole place and pace is slower and more basic. I'm 72 and definitely struggle with techie stuff, but once I got used to the different format I found it easier to use. It is in some ways like ebay was when I first started here. A basic List it - Sell it - Get paid (through Paypal) site. Their boards are friendly and helpful towards new members.🙂

Kath, if you sell in SD with "Free Postage", the seller pays for the postage.
If the seller then uses his/her own postage method, the cost of the unused label will be refunded to the seller (unsure about timescale - have seen some say 7 days, some say 30)
Obviously this means a slightly higher price, but if buyers search by "Lowest Price plus P&P" you should still be in the same place in the searches. (Incidentally, will they change "P&P" to just "P", as there is no allowance for the other "P" in SD?)

I think everyone is, possibly including CS and ebay's Community Team.
I've given-up even trying to follow the daily(?) revisions, glitches and un-announced changes.
I don't understand how anyone can even attempt to sell anything while getting purchases to buyers seems to be in a state of utter confusion.
My advice is "Don't Panic", sit back and wait for the fog to lift. I wouldn't list anything until there is clarity. Sales are probably few and far between at the moment as buyers are probably as confused as everyone else. If one of your items sells just do your best with whatever ebay throws up on the screen at the time.
You might lose out if you get it wrong but it's not the end of the world and at least your buyer will be happy to get their purchase.

Well, they're definitely taking the P here, anyway you look at it.....

thanks, never knew that, probably got lost in my general confusion with it all!
24-04-2025 11:51 AM
but it is not that one, it is the one very similar to e bay, just last two letters are different!

.....and due to their taking the P they're going to be getting a lot few p's from a good many sellers.
Serves them right!!!

That sounds really nice, thanks for that.
