AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Asked about large letters in this weeks chat and received this reply:

The manager at our main post office said because of simple delivery people are paying alot more to send items than the Royal mail charge ,she said yesterday that there had been a lot of people sending items really cross with SD and are going to give up ebay .My partner listed a small book on pedal cars but the ebay AI said it was a full size pedal car and said the postage would be xx amount for a pedal car . This SD is all so time consuming so much to have to think about and alter and double check . Simple delivery was before this Simple delivery was thrown at us . you could list an item put the postage cost in and when the item sold ,take it down to post office and they would put label on parcel ,take your money and job done . I know some sellers put extortinate prices on for postage £5 on something that would really be just £3.49 ,but then more fool the buyers who paid it . Not every one has a printer or smart phone and not everyone is mobile ,I know royal mail will collect from your house but you have to have labels already on the parcels ,if not they will only bring one label to you .

If it's true, it's good to hear that large letters, i.e. a DVD, no longer require "simple' delivery and thus the postage costs aren't unnecessarily inflated from £2 to £2.70. Unfortunately, it's too late now for me and I have already removed all my listings from eBay. I have no intention of putting them back though because of the so-called buyer protection fee which still makes the price uncompetitive - increasing a £2 DVD by 41.5% to £2.83. eBay's continual faffing around with the rules, and dates, means the whole process is a complete muddle and I want no part of it. They should have thought through the processes well in advance of launching them on their customers, but instead they have chosen to 'try it on', and simply alienated us.

On the community chat today at 2pm it was said that simple delivery is still being rolled out and that it hasn't reached all private sellers yet .

Based on available information from the Royal Mail website, and eBay, yes!

Please note Royal Mail Large Letter is NOT EXCLUDED FROM SD.
It would appear we were given an INCORRECT reply from Marco on eBay chat this pm.

You really couldn't make it up. It becomes more of a shambles by the day, and the eBay staff don't have a clue either. I'm glad I've delisted EVERYTHING.

Are you any clearer now?

I came away thinking marco had confirmed that large letter items are excluded from simple delivery but this appears to be at odds with previous announcements, so not sure what to think.

I'm sure Marco knows, but just got confused when he was posting. The screenshot he included certainly didn't suggest that large letters were excluded.
Sadly, I'm pretty sure they are not excluded, and, as I said, marco@eBay was just a little confused, and made an error. It would be good if he could clarify what he actually meant.

I end up being more confused after posting questions on the talk to the community team thread than I did before today.
I just wish that I came away feeling that my questions had a satisfactory answer. That's 1 hour of my life I'll never get back again.

Plus I think they'll still be many more changes to come before it reaches all private sellers and is set in stone.

We have recently been told on our mentor forum that contrary to previous information, LLs are not excluded from SD.
23-04-2025 4:19 PM
So very true. The main decent thing was being able to deal with RM direct and that option has been taken away. With so many private sellers leaving and not posting it will take so long to repair this mess. That's if it is repairable.
23-04-2025 4:21 PM
So what's happening?
Can we have a definitive answer? .
Are LL covered by SD?
Can we have a statement from Ebay clarifying.
23-04-2025 4:22 PM
It's not clear at all, i got Schrodinger's answer regarding private sellers sending prohibited items, the answer is yes (and no)
Clear as mud

I'm only delaying my move there until next month when I would have been here for exactly 20 years and then it'll be so long, farewell.
23-04-2025 4:35 PM
It will take them so much longer to ever repair this mess compared to how quickly this mess has taken to get this bad.
