AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

If you mean the photo of the damaged Steelbook box set then I can guarantee you that isn't a partial refund.
Steelbook sets cost more than standard sets simply for the bling factor (artwork mainly but sometimes due to limited production runs). The discs themselves are nearly always identical to the standard releases that cost significantly less.
That is a really bad sign for sellers here. If eBay tried that *bleep* with me I'd never buy another dvd/Blu-ray/UHD on the platform again.
This will seep through to all of us.

I have always been paid the value of what I sold the item for when RM have lost items have provided all the relevant details .
However I can recall that RM saying stating would only refund what the seller had paid for it . So it could be if RM have there doubts about the adjust the value

I am still able to do so??
The roll out is gradual. I think you’ll find that you won’t be able to in the near future, as ebay have stated that SD will be the only method available to private sellers.
If you don’t believe me, that’s fine.

I tried to list a new item on there and yes,it comes up with the SD nonsense, then if you press the arrow to change the postage,I get a blank screen with grey squares.
However,if I use my laptop, again you get a SD box come up for postage. But underneath that box ,in very small type it says 'switch to advanced options'.
Click that and you get another box with SD on the right highlighted in blue, but 'advanced options' box on the left,at the bottom of the box.
Click the advanced one, then you get a new postage page with a 'Custom postage' highlighted outline box.
Your previous postage options should be underneath as before, saving that (and you can change it if needed),and yr listing should be as before with no SD.
A lot of my listings were changed to SD on Tuesday, but they are all back to my postage settings now.
Of course,we are left in the dark as usual,as to what is going on,or will be done, but that's how it seems to be for most atm 😞
Have taken all mine off with the Holiday effort thing, just while I decide who to use as ebays replacement.
No. I use(d) the webpage on an ipad. I don’t have a smartphone.

Seems to be a hell of a rigmarole to avoid 'Simple Delivery', possibly only to find that when eBay decide, they will change it all back. I'm glad I no longer list on eBay.

This seller successfully completed an order. Blythe Doll Clothes Bundle, Two Handmade Shetland Wool Hats for Blythe Dolls (#186710665430) | eBay automated Feedback £21.00 | Past year |
This seller successfully completed an order. American Duchess Edwardian Button Boots UK size 5.5 (#186702361634) | eBay automated Feedback £85.00 | Past year |
Just a bit curious how you as a seller have automated feedback which isn't recent and as far as I understand has been rolled out yet ?

I’m not trying to avoid simple delivery, I stopped using ebay a week ago, I’m amazed at all the people here trying to get round it and hanging on to the last minute watching the settings to see if they’ve changed….I just can’t be bothered.

As I mentioned in a previous post, BPF took a full two weeks to reach some categories - so if the SD rollout follows a similar timeframe, why not use the opportunity to sell a bit more before the ship capsizes?

My listings were changed to SD last Friday and I lost ‘Advanced Options’ on Sunday. So I can’t.

Just a bit curious about why you’re looking at my feedback?

Now I'm really cheesed off. On the order details of my last sale, Ebay are actually telling me how to pack my item. Do they honestly think I can't even pack anything without their help??? I have managed that for over 14 years without their help!!!!!

‘Ensure your package looks professional’? *bleep* (saved you the bother there mods 😇)
Such detailed ‘advice’ looks like a set up for refusing to cover the seller for damage in transit.

Hi Andy.
I've read somewhere ( I lost it amongst all the other thousands of comments lol ) that ebay can change our live listings to SD, do you know if that is true? I have been able to custom the postage on my listings which I took down on Sunday, but as there was so many saying that they could still custom the post I decided to list my items again. If its true that they can interfere, then I will definitely be taking them back down! TIA

My live listings were changed to SD last Friday. I lost my ability to list using advanced options late on Sunday just before the ‘official’ roll out so yes, it is true.
Sorry, I’m not Andy… hope it still helps.

I rarely have anything go missing with RM but when it has and I have contacted RM about it they have wanted all the proof of how much I paid for it when I bought it, i.e a receipt or a price tag on the item (which i have from my listing photos) . Without these they have only paid out the postage cost and they won't pay out on jewellery unless it is sent by special delivery . They want your proof of postage too . They allow either the seller or buyer to make a claim but not both . They want the item number too from the ebay listing .. I used to post items at post office standard delivery and say that they were only worth £20 even if it was more because I felt sure that the RM would deliver the item , but more recently I have noticed the tracking number barcode/QR code not being scanned on delivery to buyer ,who could then claim the item as not received through ebay ,so i now send everything tracked 24 /48 which costs just 20p more than standard delivery and the item is covered up to £150 for loss or damage and the extra 20p seems to guarantee that the barcode /QR is scanned on delivery so it stops the buyer claiming the item hasn't been delivered . So for the extra 20p I find it is worth paying for that peace of mind ,even if my postage cost on the listing says free or it looks like the item is being sent standard delivery I pay the extra myself so i know my end I am covered .

They still haven’t explained how we do this without any payment for packaging materials.

I too post with tracking 48. That way I know it's delivered and buyers cannot try to pull a fast one, which of course they never do, do they? Lol. A small parcel is now £4.05 but I'm happy to swallow the extra cost myself, for now.

My understanding, from what others have posted here and elsewhere - including jma2815's response to your question - is yes, that's what's happening. As SD rolls out into the various categories, 'live' listings are having the seller-set postage changed, in similar fashion to how BPF was added. The description for the sole listing I currently have live includes the caveat: "Please note that if this listing becomes subject to eBay's extortionate 'Simple Delivery' it will be withdrawn accordingly."
....part of the problem in this whole debacle is that the SD rate gets set to whatever eBay's not-as-clever-as-it-thinks-it-is 'AI' decides is appropriate because it has absolutely no clue whatsoever what size, shape and weight the vast majority of items actually are - and in some cases apparently even over-rides the dimensions entered by sellers. Take my current listing, for example - 21 x 14ml tinlets of model paint - which weigh 562g within a plastic Ferrero Rocher assortment box that measures 20x14.5x4cm, and will cost me £2.69 to send via Yodel. If and when SD kicks in, I'm fairly certain it's going to pick a weight and size bracket that bears no relation to reality...
