Introducing automated positive feedback

The great service you provide to your customers deserves to be recognised. This is why we are excited to introduce automated positive feedback.

Starting late April, automated positive feedback will be added to your feedback profile 7 days after tracking confirms successful delivery, provided the following criteria are met:

  • Tracking shows the item was delivered on time
  • The buyer hasn’t left feedback yet
  • The buyer hasn't reported an issue or opened a return on their order

There’s lots of benefits of automated feedback too, including the fact it contributes to your feedback score and improves your positive rating percentage. When you receive the feedback it’ll display the message on your page, “Order completed successfully - tracked and on time”, offering reassurance to prospective buyers that you offer great service.

It's just an insulting bribe/distraction they have thrown out there in the hope it will deflect attention from how terrible SD will be for buyers, private sellers, post offices and maybe business sellers.

Feedback should be genuine and this will distort the data and make people trust it even less.

The people running ebay don't seem to have a clue how long term buyers and sellers think.

I'm staying 'on strike' from buying and selling.

I had one item sell quickly after the announcement and I regret that as ebay got a share and they they don't deserve a penny for how they are treating everyone. I have turned down multiple inquiries from buyers who are asking if I am really away for a month explaining why I am not currently selling on ebay.

I am fortunate in that I don't need the money from selling and it's actually saving me money as I tend to spend more than I sell on ebay. Next month's credit card bill will be great.

About time!

Considering the vast majority of buyers don't bother, sellers need something to keep their feedback score being updated.

I have sold over 19K items & only received 4387, yet left 8931, so approx. 20% of my customers can be bothered. Obviously if they aren't happy, they are quick to let us know!

Something good from eBay for a change 😂

'Feedback should be genuine and this will distort the data and make people trust it even less.'

What will happen if problems arise after 7 days? What happens if a buyer wants to leave their own feedback - is it going to be possible to overwrite the automated fb?

'The people running ebay don't seem to have a clue how long term buyers and sellers think.'

Depressingly true. And this will mean more & more buyers won't bother to leave feedback, because eBay will do it for them.

If you read the policy you can see buyers can leave negative feedback or positive feedback after the automated feedback is posted. This feedback will overwrite the automated feedback.

Dunno maybe Ebay will find some way of charging buyers 99p to change the automated feedback? Then they could email the seller and offer to change it back for another 99p? They could call it Simple Feedback and it would all be a great improvement as integrity doesn't matter on this transformational journey anymore as long as everyone's getting screwed and ebay are making tons of extra money.

Surely monetising the feedback system must be on the todo list after postage?

Nah, the would never charge 99p for revising feedback.

They'd put a 75p+4% feedback protection fee on it and charge £1.77 to make you feel safer.

AAh for that you would need to also buy their Evri service to deliver the change.

Why are eBay always "excited" about everything? It may be exciting or even thrilling to be on the runaway train. But I'm glad I got off at the last station.

They did get one thing right though: "The great service you provide to your customers deserves to be recognised". ~ Yes eBay, it deserves to be recognised by you. But instead, you shaft people.

Probably because some of them will be on bonus plan if they can persuade us this 'transformation' is not a bad idea.

As I said before, exceptionally bad idea as it will mean more bed feedback for sellers.

There many time when a buyer thinks it's not worth bad feedback, but certainly not worth good feedback, so they leave none.

Now they will leave bad feedback

Have you ever been in a work situation where things have gone so badly wrong you move past being stressed into embracing the absurdity and somehow find the joy in it? Even the ebay uk decision makers might be reading these messages and having a chuckle with us. After all they are human, probably.

Yes, whenever you see the 'excited' word in an eBay announcement, you can bet it precedes unwelcome news...

Nah we've got the power to make choices and stop selling/buying  - they're the ones whose careers are stuffed if this goes wrong.

I am excited to announce that ebay will be using American corporate buzzwords in all announcements for synergy and streamlining.

Using these exciting words allows us to focus our streamlining efforts towards creating synergy with our exciting sellers, thus dynamically creating a synergistic, exciting environment for the sales space we operate within.
