AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I have a purchase from yesterday, Standard £3.09 Evri confirmed today.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see 60-70% going Evri way regardless to seller selection.

Thanks, you too, I guess we all need a break now and then.
Still no meddling with my existing listings yet, although U.S. time can be 5-7 hours behind so guess there is still time.
Think I also saw a post somewhere today that said they could still list with custom postage.

Which listings have £2.94? I'm only seeing a lot of £2.99, which is apparently RM tracked 48. Each thing of yours that I looked at was tracked 48.

I'm wondering if they are still making last minute amendments. Whatever way you look at it things are still a mess.
15-04-2025 8:21 PM
Thanks for the info, yes could be a higher percentage going to evri which will please a lot of people! I can see the evri £2.94 in the table below but can't even see a £3.09.

Just had a look and *up to 1kg 61x46x46* via RM only it comes up here as £3.44 and combined with Evri it says £2.94
Did you change it postage preferences?
Sounds like its worth checking all your listings in case you get caught out.

I've relisted a few items today to 'test' SD - on all I've been able to use custom delivery.
If / when SD is applied to them the items are all being removed.
15-04-2025 8:25 PM
Thanks for the info, yes the same with me, if sd is applied I'll take my listings down.

I've been checking out local auction houses. We have quite a few round here. Whilst none of them actively promote that they specialise in one thing or another, it does seem to be the case that some auction houses attract stuff like furniture and expensive paintings, whereas others attract “table top” stuff like china, jewellery etc, which is probably more suited to my items. I think I might sort out some suitable stuff and give them a go.

Like the man said you need to read the room.
I've witnessed no end of postings which suggest strongly that this mess is the fault of private sellers who should be registered as businesses. Quite erroneously in many many cases. Not so much on this thread because the weight of opinion supports the privateers.
Do you know what? Many people buy and sell in the course of their hobbies. This does not make them businesses. And if they sell 30 items a year they get reported to HMRC anyway so I don't know what business sellers or know-it-all mentors beef is with the privateers or the reason for the undoubted animosity.
Ebay should have kept the original seller's fees and delivery options instead of messing things up. The only one to blame for all this controversy is stupid ebay.

That's not something I've thought of but could be worth me looking into auction houses that sell collectibles.

Unfortunately I've witnessed many a time that a poster has gone off on one telling a new poster who came for help that they should be registered as a business after only a cursory look at their listings only to be proved wrong. For some reason they go quiet then and slink off the thread.
Still doesn't matter, the next first time poster still gets the same...

..... so I don't know what business sellers or know-it-all mentors beef is with the privateers or the reason for the undoubted animosity .....
Perhaps because these pseudo-private parasites chancers have never had to pay the same level of fees?
15-04-2025 8:31 PM
What comes up here for *up to 1kg* - combined couriers £2.94, - Evri only £2.98, - RM £3.44
Guessing who you brought from must have had both selected, kinnda like a crab shoot to keep you on the edge of your seat.
15-04-2025 8:31 PM
But…how is that animosity towards genuine private sellers?
business sellers, mentors or otherwise do not care or have an issue with people selling off their own items. Only those who are clearly a business.
i don’t see how this is so difficult to understand to be honest.
15-04-2025 8:34 PM
Your remarks just show you have no respect for private sellers as in your opinion they are 'chancers'.
Animosity pure and simple.
15-04-2025 8:36 PM
Thanks for that, from the prices in the table above they are different but maybe it's out of date already.

Em, I used the word pseudo?
That doesn't refer to honest genuine private sellers.
If that's your interpretation of my post, then so be it.
Who is showing animosity now?
15-04-2025 8:38 PM
ONLY THOSE WHO ARE ACTUALLY CLEARLY BUSINESSES! Not all private sellers!

I think you're failing to see the point that perspectives aren't facts. So whilst one of you may look at a series of data and come to a certain conclusion, you completely fail to allow for all the things you can't see. So your conclusions are inherently biased based off previous closed view experiences. Of course, some times you may be right, give you the benefit of the doubt, say 90% but there's still wrong left in that.
Your argument is that your opinions are the same as fact and I, like others have seen examples of when that type have been wrong.
As I've said before, many times. I view it as a complete waste of time and the only group that benefit from these arguments are eBay themselves. At a minimum they often derail threads that started with completely different purposes.
The fact that it's allowed certainly says alot though. Almost like derailing conversations was the intent ..
