AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

No I'm just watching minions and ignoring the sarcastic pops they want to make. Certain posters just aren't worth the effort

If you "Follow the money" it supports that all this may well be a "revenue stream".
How many items go missing/ need a compensation pay-out.
That against how many have paid the Customer Protection with no resulting pay-out.
Leaves quite a healthy balance, I would think..

It could also be their way to stop certain post notifications attracting more users and their attempt to silence the negativity their getting in the forums.

In 22 years, I have had very few items go missing & needing compensation.
Low-priced items not requiring Tracked etc shipping, & covered by RM Compensation up to £20 RM put in their price booklets.
RM used to be reasonable about this if you could prove you sent it, which I could with Proof of Posting receipts. Had one recently & RM wanted proof of what I had paid for it. I bought it 30-40 years ago, so, surprise surprise, I haven't!.. so no compensation..
Question - if ebay are now covering losses/compensation, will they meet with the same response from RM when they obviously will not have a receipt to produce?

There used to be a counter you could watch of sales, but not seen it for at least a decade.

Under the contract ebay has with RM they will not be required to provide 'proof of posting' for items that go missing.
I would expect that there will be a way for the software to report undelivered parcels and match them to the sales for compensation purposes, or alternatively, and simpler, part of the fee structure was predicated on an estimate of the value of the refunds ebay would have to make under SD.

I am keeping 100g/under £10 on as normal depending on letter or/and large letter, rest changing to collection only so won't sell anything but hey ho.

I always used my spare cash to pay for the postage at the post office, but it seems like another way of reducing the use of cash..its like we are employees of ebay now., maybe we will get a set of overalls to wear with the ebay logo .

I’ve now removed all my listings from eBay except one.
Although eBay have said that they would change all existing listings to “Simple Delivery” from 7th April (whether you like it or not) my one remaining listing still has the custom postage amount that I set when I listed it.
I wonder if anyone out there has had a listing changed for them?
I’m also wondering why there is an eBay community area such as this if they’re not engaging or listening to the people posting stuff on it!
I’ve recently put a load of stuff on another auction site - eBid, but have yet to sell anything. It’s such a small site in comparison to eBay so just doesn’t get the visits that eBay does but I live in hope!

I wrote to the eBay UK Executive Office and received a very boilerplate reply which didn't address any of the points I raised and just listed the supposed benefits. One of the "benefits" for sellers is:
You’ll typically get your funds 2 days after delivery has been confirmed when you use our prepaid labels.
Have they already forgotten we used to get paid before delivery?

It all seemed to go down the drain after they ditched pay pal for payments..ha when ebay was simple to use back then , now its just a complicated mess.

I suspect you're right.
Seems a bit two-tier, given the off-hand way RM rejected my claim (If they had have paid out, it would have been for my original purchase price, not what it would have sold for now) - but "Hey! Ho!" ..that's the wonderful world we live in these days.

I think many businesses will treat their retail consumer customers differently to their commercial ones. A bit like ebay treats private accounts differently to business ones.

I do often use local Nextdoor dot co dot uk which is 100% collection only. Had quite a few sales over last couple of years and not just large & heavy items. No fees and no FB once paid & accepted at the door.

They'll grow in size with the new users their gaining.

That's how many of us feel.

This WAS a great platform. In 20 years of being here I've never known it to be so unpopular.

I did get a reply from Ask eBay on Twitter saying that you could still have custom delivery for items under 100g and under £10 - but never mentioned if they will force you to use tracked delivery. Nor how I can blanket apply that option to multiple listings.
I'd have been happy to carry on as we were but there seems no point. The sales have been so poor since they introduced buyer protection fees, that it's not worth the hassle. I used to sell a few items a week, yesterday was my first sale in two months. With the delivery lottery, it's no longer easy, rewarding or enjoyable to sell on eBay.
I hope they change their stance, or at least make it easy to export listings to a platform that wants small value item sellers.

So very true. There are 2 other places I'm trying out. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
